Story
Fireball is a doll! Five-months-old, he is a cuddler. Fireball is a laid-back dude (for a puppy). He loves everyone he meets and offers his belly frequently for belly rubs to anyone who happens to have hands. Loves: PEOPLE, FOOD, and TOYS! Like most dogs, Fireball is very food motivated, but he’s also a people pleaser! These things together are helping his training to move along rapidly. He’s mostly learned to wait for his food bowl while the bigger dogs are fed (sometimes he gets over excited towards the end), and is hitting the potty pad a good percentage of the time (he’s not housebroken, and will need to continue to work on this). He’s also working on his sit command. Fireball will definitely benefit from a puppy manners class, and seems like he’d really enjoy training, especially spending time with his human. He is still learning not to gnaw on fingers when playing. So far, Fireball has not been around cats or toddlers, but has done very well with his foster siblings. He shows no sign of resource guarding, and isn’t snappy. He does well with getting his nails trimmed (with the distraction of peanut butter). He has not been tried on a leash yet, but is expected to do well. He tolerates crates, but doesn’t sleep in one at night currently — he and his brother have a penned area of a room so they can use their potty pads at night. So far this has gone very well (although he’d love to be promoted to the big bed by his new owner). Fireball will probably do best in a house with a fenced-in yard, as he’s part Jack Russell and LOVES to run. He’s extremely social — another young dog (or still energetic older dog) would be a good fit for him, or a house where someone is around most of the time. Fireball is all about companionship!

**JACK IS AVAILABLE FOR A MEET & GREET TO APPROVED ADOPTERS ONLY. YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION TO BEGIN THE ADOPTION PROCESS** Jack is all puppy! Five-months-old, he is a ball of energy and love. He weighs about seven pounds and is a total sweetheart. Jack has a wonderful temperament and a very friendly personality. loves: PLAYING and FOOD! Jack is extremely food motivated, which will come in handy for training. He loves toys and other dogs, including his brother (Fireball) and foster siblings. When no one is available to play with him, Jack can often be found throwing toys around or chewing on a Nylabone. Because he’s part Jack Russell, he loves to run, so a fenced in yard would be best for him. He’d also be happiest with another young dog (or an older dog who still loves to play) or someone who is around most of the time, as he’s very social and doesn’t like to be alone. Jack is a little bit of a wild child at meal time, but is quickly learning how to wait his turn for food. He is also working on potty pad training, but is not yet house broken. He’s good about getting his nails trimmed (peanut butter is a great distraction). He hasn’t had exposure to cats or toddlers, but does fine with other dogs. So far, he’s shown no signs of resource guarding (although he has not learned manners yet, so he can be pushy when it comes to food, treats, and toys). Jack tends to jump on the backs of legs when he’s very excited, which is a terrible habit, but Jack is smart — he will do very well with training classes and has been receptive to learning new behaviors. We haven’t tried him on a leash yet, but have every expectation he’ll do fine. When he gets tired, Jack is an absolutely wonderful lap dog. All he wants is to be curled up on his human. He will seek out your lap and make it his own. Jack sleeps at night with his brother in a penned off area of a room (not in a crate), and is fine with this arrangement. This has allowed him to practice his potty pad training during the night! Jack would love to be invited to the big bed, if his new Mom or Dad is willing to let him in once he’s house broken! Jack is available for adoption in Massachusetts with a fee of $650.00. Please contact Christine at christine@coaldr.org or 617-448-7012 for any questions about Jack.

Story
If you are looking for a sweet older lady, I am the one for you. I love everyone I meet, people and dogs. I love attention, sleeping under the covers in the big bed and spending time out in the yard laying in the grass soaking up the sun. Living in an apartment all my life I never had that luxury. My life is so much better now. I have a fenced in backyard I can go in all the time and someone who understands slow casual walks are best for me because I love sniffing everything. Long hikes are not my thing. Also, I am not an early riser. I like to go out for my walks after the grass has dried. I’m hoping to find a place where I can enjoy life as I do now. I am the princess in my foster home. I get lots of kisses, good food and treats, and belly rubs galore. I wouldn’t mind living with another dog, but it isn’t necessary if you are home most of the time. I would love to meet you if you will commit to loving me unconditionally for the rest of my life. If you have any upcoming life changing events coming up in your life, please do not think of adopting me. The last person who I loved got rid of me because she was getting married. That is not right in my eyes. I deserve so much better. Please be sure you are ready to commit to being my everything. In return I will give you unconditional love for the rest of my life 😊

Story
**MALIBU IS AVAILABLE FOR A MEET & GREET TO APPROVED ADOPTERS ONLY. YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION TO BEGIN THE ADOPTION PROCESS** Malibu is a sweet and spunky 6-month-old JRT puppy. She is very friendly and loves people and dogs of all sizes. She has all the confidence in the world and doesn’t realize she’s a petite 12 pounds. Her days are filled with playtime, naps and belly rubs, yet there’s always time for kisses and cuddles. Malibu loves to be outside soaking up the sun or trying to catch flying insects. She loves doing zoomies, is very fast, and can jump high. So a fenced-in yard is a must. At nap time, if she’s not laying right next to you, she will curl up in a nearby doggie bed with a soft blanket. Malibu loves her people. She loves to be picked up and will give kisses to any face she can find. Her smart, curious side will call for a vast assortment of toys on hand to occupy any idle time. She is just about all trained to go potty outside, but can have an occasional oops inside. As with any puppy, she would benefit from puppy training and should do very well. She patiently waits for her food. She loves healthy snacks, chew toys, and fur friends. She doesn't nip or bite, and has lost all of her baby teeth. She will go in the crate at night, but prefers to cuddle at nap time. Malibu is adorable and is the total package! Malibu is available for adoption in Massachusetts with a fee of $650.00. Please contact Christine at christine@coaldr.org or 617-448-7012 for any questions about Malibu.

Story
Meet Otto 🐾 A nice man in the country was feeding Otto and a couple of other stray dogs for several months. He tried to catch the dogs but they were afraid and elusive. One day he came outside to find Otto sitting alone in a chair defeated. 😔 The other dogs were nowhere to be found. They probably met a terrible fate. Otto allowed the man to bathe him, feed him, and love on him. 🩵 Then Otto found his way into the Dixie Girl Dog Rescue system. He has been happily living in a foster home for a couple of weeks. Otto is believed to be two to three years old. He is a stocky little muscle man at 20 pounds. He might be a Jack Russell Terrier mix. Now that Otto has no fleas or ticks and he is getting quality food, his skin, fur, and nails are almost back to normal. Otto has the cutest personality. He doesn't run, he hops. Sometimes he gets excited and flips around in circles. When he gets really excited he twists, twirls, and bucks like a foal. He loves to play with dogs his size or larger. Otto isn’t leash trained and needs a fenced yard to enjoy his outdoor time. ❤️ If you adopt Otto, you will truly be rescuing a dog in need. He needs to continue to be loved, cherished, and treated with kindness. Then he will thrive and be your best friend forever. 💙 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
