Story
Meet Luna !! Very sweet and low-key girl that is looking for a lap to sit on. Despite her breed she is not extremely active. She was adopted back in 2021 and sadly her adopter has some significant life circumstances preventing her from giving Luna the life she deserves. I can tell you Luna has been loved so much in her first home. She is ready to share that love with her new family. Luna is an approx 7 year old female Jack Russell mix. She currently weights 10 pounds and is full grown. She is already spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. She is heartworm negative. She was a bit difficult for the vet as she has some trust issues with strangers trying to restrain her. She is a very sweet and loving dog once she has a day or two to trust you. She is fearful at first and needs some space. After that she is very good about things. She would love a home that is not gone as often but has been able to handle a foster home where the family works a full day. Just as long as she gets lots of love and attention when you get home. Luna has done okay with smaller male dogs but really doesn’t care much for doggie friends. She is fostered with a male dog her size and does well but doesn’t really want much to do with him. Smaller male dogs that leave her alone would be the best match or a home without other dogs. She does not do well with female dogs. She has lived with cats in the past and done fine. ***The dog in the photos with her is Juno. We also took her back in to rescue. They have lived together however Luna is not always nice to Juno so they aren’t the happiest together*** She would do best in an adult home. She has never lived with kids and really doesn’t like a high energy household. She is fun and playful if you want to take her to do stuff but really likes to just lounge around on the couch with her family. We don’t think she would do the best with young children. Possibly teens that can leave her alone when she isn’t interested in being messed with. We were told she has some anxiety when left home alone and not crated. She has so far done really well crated at her foster home. She has also done great left out in the house to roam all night while her foster family sleeps. She will pull things through the crate and rip them up if she can reach them. Luna does decent on the leash when she is not scared. If she is scared, she will try to stop walking or pull away. She is fine on car rides. She is somewhat potty trained. She has been doing really well using puppy pads inside. She has not wanted to potty on the leash outside but may do better with a fenced yard. She has only had two accidents not on the puppy pads since she arrived and those were on the first day. She has had no trouble sharing food, treats or toys with other dogs or humans. She likes to sit on the couch and watch everything. You need to take it slow with her at first. She can get scared easily and try to bite for a day or two if you push her. After that she will love you and be comfortable with you. She does prefer women but is currently fostered with a male and adjusted to him quicker than we expected. Luna is going to make the right family very happy. She would love a low key home that would give her all the attention. She would prefer no other dogs or kids but may do okay with the right dog and the right age/temperament of kids. She really is a sweet girl that is ready to settle down in her forever home. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application.‼️

Story
Meet Juno!! Okay listen, this dog is the greatest thing ever. Everyone that meets her just loves her personality. A fun little dog that is just the right amount of everything. Great size, great level of energy, agreeable to whatever you’re doing. We just love her to pieces!! She was adopted back in 2021 and sadly her adopter has some significant life circumstances preventing her from giving Juno the life she deserves. I can tell you Juno has been loved so much in her first home. She is ready to share that love with her new family. Juno is a female, approx 6-7 years old. She is very overweight right now which we are working on. When adopted she was 34 pounds and now she is 46 pounds. She should be back to 30-34 pounds to be her ideal and healthy weight. (The last photo on the post show her at ideal weight when she was first here prior to adoption) We never really figured out what breed she was. She kind of looks like an oversized Jack Russell but we really aren’t sure. She has the cutest speckled belly and the greatest attitude. She has been spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines already. She is thankfully heartworm negative. Juno is a lover, she can be a bit obnoxious with her love at times. She LOVES to give kisses. She doesn’t have any concept of you not enjoying them. You’re getting the kisses lol, she is determined. She likes to cuddle and wants to be as close to you as possible. She will wiggle worm all over the couch to see if it’s possible to get any closer to you. She has been good with other dogs so far but isn’t fond of hyper dogs that run up into her face. She will growl but hasn’t done anything more. She has been fostered with cats and she ignores them. She pretty much ignores other animals in the home as her goal is to be her humans shadow. She will do best in a home with calmer dogs. Juno has not lived with any young kids yet but with as loving as she is we think she will do great. She would need to be treated properly by children in the home. Meaning no laying on her, pulling tails and ears etc. That goes for any dog. She’s had no issues sharing food, toys or treats so far with other animals or people. She was an angel at the vet. They said she flopped over on the table and got belly rubs while they did all her vaccines. She rides well in the car and is pretty good on a leash. She is happy to go on adventures with you. She doesn’t really like being crated but does very well being left out in the home. She can be crated you just have to tell her no initially when she starts to bark or whine and she eventually figures it out. You will have to put her in the crate as she won’t go in when asked yet. She has done really well with potty training so far. She may have a few accidents when adjusting to a new home and routine. Juno is fairly calm and really likes to lay around in her dog bed all day. She gets a little hype about sharing her love with you at times. Once you calm her down she goes back to relaxing. She has a slight amount of separation anxiety but it’s been easily manageable. If you go outside she may whine or bark at the door. When gated in another room she will do the same but it’s short lived if you ignore her. She can easily jump a 4ft or shorter fence/gate and she absolutely will do that to get to where her people are. She is a lot of love in an adorable package. If you’re into cuddles, hugs and tons of kisses then she’s your girl. She’s easy to have around the house and wants nothing more than her love to be returned. **She will need a family committed to helping her lose the extra weight as that is not healthy for her. She appears to already have a bit of arthritis and the extra weight is making that worse. ** Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application. ‼️

Story
Meet Roy!   Roy’s journey is one of resilience and hope. This sweet boy was rescued from tough conditions in Puerto Rico. On Labor Day, our rescuer spotted Roy under a car, dragging his left paw. When she called to him, he came straight to her, as if he knew he was being saved.   Sadly, Roy’s leg couldn’t be saved and had to be amputated. He spent several days in the hospital recovering. He has been treated for heartworm, is now healthy, and is ready for his forever home.   Roy is:   &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 About 3 years old   &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 24 lbs   &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Neutered and vaccinated   &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Sociable and walks well on a leash   Roy is truly a wonderful companion but isn’t a fan of cats, so he’s looking for a cat-free home.   If you think you can give this courageous boy the loving home he deserves, please complete an adoption application:   [Dog Adoption Application](https://islanddogrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=7208)   Let’s help Roy find his happily-ever-after! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Complete one of our online adoption applications today!
