Story
Meet Mong-sil! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! She is a 6 month old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Mong-sil and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app January 21, 2026, 5:38 pm

Story
🐾 Background William was rescued from a slaughterhouse in Ilsan in the summer of 2021. It was a terrible place, but he survived. After his rescue, he spent four long years in a local shelter without finding a family of his own. Knowing how gentle and friendly he is, we moved him to our partner boarding house this winter to give him a better chance. Since then, William has been living peacefully with other dogs and settling in very well. 🐾 Personality and Socialization From the moment he arrived, William has shown himself to be very gentle and friendly. He was not afraid of the new environment and adjusted surprisingly well without any issues. With a medium energy level, he is calm and polite around other dogs. He especially enjoys being around gentle dogs, but he generally gets along well with everyone. If another dog is too bossy or overly energetic, William simply walks away quietly. With people, William is social and not shy. He is comfortable with both men and women and enjoys calm human companionship. He is a mellow boy who prefers a quiet and peaceful environment. Although William has no experience with cats, he may be able to live with one given a slow and proper introduction. 🐾 Behaviour William walks well on leash and enjoys spending time outdoors. He can feel a little nervous when cars pass by, but he recovers quickly. He does not require a lot of exercise and is happiest with relaxed walks and time exploring outside with his people. He does well during bath time and rides calmly in the car. Indoors, William is quiet, well mannered, and easy to live with. He prefers to do his potty outside and overall has a very calm and gentle nature. 🐾 Health and Diet William is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and up to date on vaccinations. He receives monthly parasite prevention and has shown no allergies so far. He eats dry kibble twice a day. 🐾 Ideal Home William is a smart, loving and gentle boy who would do well in many types of family settings. He would be happiest in a home that enjoys a quiet and relaxed lifestyle but also values daily walks and outdoor time together. Whoever adopts this mellow, gentle, and loving boy will be very lucky to have him. 🔗 Become his forever family today through link below: https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/william-2/

Story
🐾 Background: Imagine a sweet, gentle soul, rescued from a dog meat farm, now ready to fill your life with quiet companionship and unwavering loyalty. That’s Samdol. In May 2022, we discovered this beautiful boy at a dog meat farm in Siheung, Korea, one of 101 lucky dogs saved that day. While his past left him understandably traumatized and fearful, his gentle nature shone through even then. See his rescue here: https://www.freekoreandogs.org/our-work/ The first two years after his rescue, Samdol lived in our boarding house, slowly learning to feel safe. Recognizing his potential, we enrolled him in training school for a year, and he blossomed! He graduated, a testament to his resilience and his desire to connect. He currently lives at our boarding house with other dogs, waiting for his forever home. 🐾 Personality and Socialization: Samdol is a wonderfully gentle, submissive, and quiet boy with medium energy. He’s a great player with other dogs, large and small, puppies and seniors. He’s mindful and never pushy or aggressive in his interactions. While he’s a little shy with new people, Samdol’s love of treats makes it easy to gain his trust and affection. Once he warms up, he is sweet, gentle, and friendly, and very easy to care for. 🐾 Behaviours: Samdol is pretty easy-going and low-maintenance. He’s non-destructive and doesn’t bark. He enjoys relaxing, often sitting quietly to watch the world go by. He loves his playtime with other dogs. He handles car rides, baths, and vet visits well, accepting them with quiet grace. He walks well on a leash and enjoys outdoor time, though he can be a little nervous in new environments. 🐾 Health and Diet: When rescued, Samdol had severe skin diseases, but he has fully recovered and is now healthy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered, and receives monthly parasite prevention. He eats dry food twice a day and has shown no allergies. He does have some worn front teeth from chewing the wires when he was at the dog farm, but our veterinarian has confirmed this doesn’t affect his health. He will undergo a dental checkup one more time before he leaves Korea. 🐾 Ideal Home: His ideal home is with someone who has experience with dogs, especially rescue dogs. While Samdol is incredibly gentle and sweet, patience and guidance in a new environment will help him settle in. A quiet home, where his people are often present and appreciate a loving dog companion, would be perfect. He would thrive in a single-person household just as well as in a family setting. This amazing boy has been through so much; we want his forever home to be one where he is spoiled with love and lives a wonderful, happy life. Samdol is a very charming, cute, goofy, and lovely boy. With the right family, he will shine, and his adopter will feel so lucky to have him in their life. 🔗 Become his forever family today through link below: https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/samdol/
