Meet Hagi – Your Future Best Friend!  Follow his journey on Instagram: @mariasfosterfriends Update 7/21/2025 He’s come so far and is so close to being ready for his forever home! Here’s what’s new: Getting comfortable with new people, especially women (approaches them on his own terms!) Plays well with dogs outside his foster pack and thrives around other pups Wears his collar confidently — leash training is up next! Loves structure + routine, especially with other dogs to learn from Needs a home with another friendly dog and a patient female adopter Still cautious with men, but has made major progress with foster dad Total goofball with toys — obsessed with fetch, tug-of-war, and running zoomies Hagi’s goofy, gentle spirit continues to shine. With the right home, he’ll keep growing into the playful, confident pup we know he’s meant to be. 06/2025 Hagi is a 6-7 month-old Jindo mix who traveled all the way from South Korea and is slowly blooming into the quirky, cuddly pup he’s meant to be. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and a total pro with other dogs—big or small! In fact, he needs a doggy sibling to help show him the ropes and build up his trust in humans. He’s still a little shy around people (especially men) but is making sweet progress every day. Hagi’s not quite ready for walks just yet—leashes are still a little scary—but once he fully trusts his people, we’ll be working on that. For now, he’s happy to hang out at home, toss around a chew toy, or get in a solid nap while you work. He’s not the snuggly-in-your-arms type (yet!), but he’ll plop down next to you, sneak in some kisses, and lean in for scratchies when he’s feeling brave. And when he does feel brave? He’ll invite you to a game of fetch or tug like it’s the best day ever. Quick facts about Hagi: Potty trained and crate trained Loves dogs—big, small, and everything in between Knows basic commands like “sit,” “inside,” and “outside” Must go to a home with another friendly dog Favorite toys: balls, squeaky toys, and... socks! Loves stretching out by the window and soaking up the sunshine If you’ve got a pup looking for a gentle playmate and the patience to help Hagi grow at his own pace, he just might be your perfect match. Backstory: These two adorable puppies were rescued from the streets of Korea, where they bravely survived by scavenging for scraps and even eating newspapers. Tragically, their mother was euthanized at the shelter they were taken to, but these resilient siblings have shown incredible strength and love despite their tough start. ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States ##2265763##

• Rescue Story: Meet Liam👋 Liam was found in the mountains with his littermates when he was just 3 months old, and was rescued right before the scheduled euthanasia. He’s been living at the shelter ever since, and sadly hasn’t had a single chance to be fostered. With his adorable freckles, Liam is patiently waiting for a chance to finally experience the comfort of a loving home and a warm meal🙏 • Personality: Affectionate, Gentle, Friendly Liam doesn’t shy away from new people—even adult men! He absolutely loves being around all the volunteers and getting affection. He’s a sweet, charming boy who’ll melt your heart with his cuddly nature and the way he asks for pets😍 / His energy level is moderate! He plays gently with toys without destroying them and knows how to rest quietly in his own space without showing signs of separation anxiety. • Affinity with - Dogs: He gets along really well with dogs who share a similar play style, but may have minor squabbles with those who don’t match his play style. - Cats: Not tested - Adults/Kids: Great with adults / Not tested with kids • Walking Manners: Although his walking experience is limited due to life at the shelter, he follows the handler’s lead well and walks calmly on a leash! • Housetrained: He will need some time and guidance with house training as he adjusts to a home environment. He will probably prefer the outdoors once he has regular walks. • Bathing/Brushing: For brushing and baths, he’s super cooperative—he stays close and makes it easy! • Car Sickness: Not tested • Separation Anxiety: None. • Barks/Howls: He may bark when he hears unfamiliar or sudden sounds, as they can startle him. • Appetite/Food Allergies: Eats well. No food allergies found so far. • Shedding level (1~10): 6 • Likes/Dislikes: He lives for pets and cuddles! • Health: A healthy pup! 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: International transportation, Customs and export documentation, Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Story
• Rescue Story : Meet Dawook👋 an adorable pup with a beautiful smile! Dawook was one of the 9 puppies found on a street in South Korea at just two months old and taken to a high-risk shelter. They were luckily saved right before euthanasia by the rescue team, but Dawook had to be hospitalized due to the mange treatment while all his siblings found their foster homes. Even long after he got a clean bill of health, he is still in the private shelter without a single chance to live in the loving home he deserves. This friendly pup is more than ready to find a forever home! • Personality: Friendly, Easy-going, Active Dawook's endearing and bright personality shines through with his charming smile and playful demeanor even in the shelter. We would like him to have a family who enjoys outdoor adventures so that Dawook can experience many activities he has been missing while staying in the shelter. • Affinity with -Cats: Curious about them -Dogs: Gets along with other dogs in the shelter, but due to his play style, it would be ideal as the only dog in the house. -Adults/Kids: Good with all people, including men and kids, but he hasn't lived with kids in a house before, so it will be necessary to watch him being around kids at the beginning. • Shedding: 5-6 • Food Allergies: No. • Walking Manner: good on a leash! • Housetrained: He would prefer to potty outdoors when adopted with regular walks. • Bathing/Brushing: tolerates both well • Separation Anxiety: None. • Bark or Howl: No. • Carsickness: No. • Like & Dislike: LOVES people, attention, and treats! • Health: a healthy boy! Story
🩷 Rescue Story Yeonji was first noticed near my home on two separate occasions after escaping from her leash. Each time, she appeared timid but showed strong affection toward people—wagging her tail, staying close, and following me quietly. Knowing where she lived, I walked her back to her home and politely asked the owner if he had lost his dog. The owner was a man in his nineties, living alone in a severely dilapidated wooden house, and he had noticeable difficulty communicating. Although Yeonji had willingly followed me until then, she immediately ran away the moment she saw him. Assuming she had simply wanted to stay outside longer, I gently took her leash and handed her back. The owner then tied her to an extremely short chain. Feeling uneasy, I stayed nearby instead of returning home. Shortly after, I heard Yeonji screaming. I rushed back and witnessed the owner striking her repeatedly with an iron rod while she lay on the ground crying in pain. As it was late at night, I intervened verbally and stayed outside the property for some time to ensure the abuse stopped. The following day, I returned in daylight and, with the owner’s permission, removed Yeonji from the property and secured her safety. She has been living in foster care ever since. 🌿 Temperament & Behavior Yeonji has limited experience with cats, but in brief encounters she showed no aggression and little interest. She is highly social with other dogs. During first meetings, she engages calmly through sniffing and exploration without any aggressive behavior. She is well suited for a multi-dog household. With people, Yeonji is initially shy and does not approach strangers right away. However, within about one to two hours, she relaxes significantly and begins to show affection. She is particularly fearful of adult men and may bark once or twice from a distance. This behavior is fear-based and not aggressive. 🚶 Walking & Daily Life When first rescued, Yeonji was very timid on walks and stayed close behind her handler. As she settled in, her young and energetic nature began to emerge, and she now shows some leash pulling. She is currently in leash training and continues to improve. Her shedding level is moderate, around 6 out of 10. She has no known food allergies and eats well without being picky. 🏡 Habits & Training Yeonji defecates exclusively outdoors. She may urinate indoors, but when a designated potty pad is provided, she uses it appropriately. Occasionally, she may mistake white rugs or similar items for a potty pad. She may whine briefly when someone leaves the house, but this does not last long and she shows no other signs of separation anxiety. She barks only occasionally when startled or frightened, such as hearing unfamiliar noises or someone suddenly entering her space. These barks are brief and non-aggressive. 💛 Likes & Personality Yeonji is extremely affectionate with people, especially with her caregiver. She enjoys playing with other dogs and likes toys she can hold and manipulate with her front paws. She does not have strong dislikes, though unfamiliar objects or situations can make her cautious at first. She is currently living in a foster home and has been with her foster family for approximately two months.

Story
Dubu’s story is one of quiet endurance — and remarkable recovery. * Rescue Story : She was originally adopted by a family with four children who, without fully understanding the responsibilities of raising a dog, brought her home on impulse. From the beginning, Dubu did not receive the basic care dogs need. She was never taken on walks and spent all of her time indoors without proper stimulation or exercise. As she grew bigger, the family moved her out to the balcony, where she lived in isolation. Eventually, she was tied up in the parking area of their villa, spending her days confined to a short tether. During this period, Dubu became infected with heartworm. In 2023, when the family moved to a new home and could no longer keep her tied outside, they brought Dubu to our shelter. They covered only the cost of her heartworm treatment, and she was officially surrendered into our care. Dubu then began a long but necessary journey to recovery. She underwent six months of heartworm treatment and made a full recovery. Afterward, she remained at our center for over a year and a half, where she was given the structure and care she had never experienced before. During her time with us, Dubu learned how to be a dog again. She developed healthy social skills with other dogs, learned proper leash manners, and became fully house-trained. With consistent care and routine, her true personality began to emerge. *Personality : Dubu has a gentle and patient nature, especially with children. She is affectionate and warm toward people, enjoying human companionship. When it comes to other dogs, however, her personality becomes much more playful—she is energetic, lively, and truly comes alive during playtime. Despite her energy, Dubu is not a frequent barker and tends to be relatively quiet. * She is currently staying in a foster home(South Korea), but as it is a multi-dog household, we hope to find her a home where she can receive more focused attention—either as the only dog or with just one other companion. Dubu has spent much of her life adapting to circumstances she did not choose. Now, she is ready for something different—a home where she is not overlooked, but truly seen, cared for, and loved.
