Story
Whitney was found as a stray dog in the Korean mountain. Her mom gave birth to 4 puppies under a container box in November 2022. One day, people noticed 2 puppies died and 2 remained. They were tied up to a post and fed by a local woman. Eventually, our rescue partners were alerted and were able to save mama and the 2 pups. One of the pups being Whitney. Whitney is incredibly smart and knows many basic commands. She’s pretty good on the leash as well. Her favorite thing is to go for walks! She’s around 27lbs and full of love. She’s ok with dogs she’s met and scared of cats. Foster family has a cat and she runs away or sometimes tries to chase. Whitney completed Heartworm treatment in November ‘24 and is healthy now. She has started finally warming up to people and trusting they will not hurt her. Whitney was let down her whole life and deserves a true forever family. She is currently being fostered in Los Angeles. If you live in the USA, specifically the west coast, please apply!

Story
Dori and his sibling Hagi (also adoptable!) were rescued from the streets of South Korea, where they survived against the odds by scavenging for food—even eating newspapers to stay alive. After being taken to a shelter, they tragically lost their mother, who was euthanized. Despite this heartbreaking start, both pups have shown incredible resilience, love, and strength. Now safely in foster homes in New York after flying over from Korea, Dori is continuing his journey toward a brighter future. Over the past five months, he has come such a long way—learning to trust humans, gaining confidence in his environment, and even beginning to engage with some dogs. Though still timid, Dori is very smart and continues to make steady progress every day. Personality & Characteristics Okay with: some dogs, people, and kids. When he is home in his space Noise level: quiet pup; may be reactive to certain noises Training: fully potty trained/ crate-trained Walking manners: adapted to leash walking. He still a nervous pup when walking by people and some dogs Energy level: 6/10 — flexible depending on the time of day..think playful zoomies balanced with lots of naps, like a little kid Appetite: healthy and food-motivated Coat: unbelievably soft with some shedding Dori is a gentle, loving soul looking for a patient, understanding home where he can continue to blossom and become the loyal companion he’s meant to be If you’re ready to give these survivors the love and security they deserve, apply to adopt today! Story
Meet Hagi – Your Future Best Friend!  Follow his journey on Instagram: @mariasfosterfriends Update 7/21/2025 He’s come so far and is so close to being ready for his forever home! Here’s what’s new: Getting comfortable with new people, especially women (approaches them on his own terms!) Plays well with dogs outside his foster pack and thrives around other pups Wears his collar confidently — leash training is up next! Loves structure + routine, especially with other dogs to learn from Needs a home with another friendly dog and a patient female adopter Still cautious with men, but has made major progress with foster dad Total goofball with toys — obsessed with fetch, tug-of-war, and running zoomies Hagi’s goofy, gentle spirit continues to shine. With the right home, he’ll keep growing into the playful, confident pup we know he’s meant to be. 06/2025 Hagi is a 6-7 month-old Jindo mix who traveled all the way from South Korea and is slowly blooming into the quirky, cuddly pup he’s meant to be. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and a total pro with other dogs—big or small! In fact, he needs a doggy sibling to help show him the ropes and build up his trust in humans. He’s still a little shy around people (especially men) but is making sweet progress every day. Hagi’s not quite ready for walks just yet—leashes are still a little scary—but once he fully trusts his people, we’ll be working on that. For now, he’s happy to hang out at home, toss around a chew toy, or get in a solid nap while you work. He’s not the snuggly-in-your-arms type (yet!), but he’ll plop down next to you, sneak in some kisses, and lean in for scratchies when he’s feeling brave. And when he does feel brave? He’ll invite you to a game of fetch or tug like it’s the best day ever. Quick facts about Hagi: Potty trained and crate trained Loves dogs—big, small, and everything in between Knows basic commands like “sit,” “inside,” and “outside” Must go to a home with another friendly dog Favorite toys: balls, squeaky toys, and... socks! Loves stretching out by the window and soaking up the sunshine If you’ve got a pup looking for a gentle playmate and the patience to help Hagi grow at his own pace, he just might be your perfect match. Backstory: These two adorable puppies were rescued from the streets of Korea, where they bravely survived by scavenging for scraps and even eating newspapers. Tragically, their mother was euthanized at the shelter they were taken to, but these resilient siblings have shown incredible strength and love despite their tough start. ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. Story
Meet Nana | Apply Here This sweet girl is Nana, a 3 year old and 40lb Jindo mix that we rescued from Gangneung Shelter in South Korea. As soon as we spotted her, she was wiggling her entire body and simply so excited to see our team. With the overcrowding in provincial shelters, Nana was kept on a chain in a covered outdoor space alongside other medium sized dogs. Since her rescue, her sweetness has only gotten stronger. Nana is eager to please and full of affection, often giving little kisses anywhere she can to humans she trusts. She can be a little shy at first and cautious but once she knows you’re safe she’s an absolute love bug. Nana has been navigating the snow with curiosity and confidence! It’s almost like she’s never seen this much snow before, but nothing stops her from climbing snow banks and trotting along the cleared paths. Inside she’s doing very well with crate and house training - she does prefer a large blanket to lounge rather than a dog bed though. Nana would do best in an adult only household. She would be so excited to meet you, and will probably do a full wiggle if you call her name! Pre-approved applicants can set up private meet and greets with Nana, or any of our dogs, throughout the week! View her story here.    You don’t have to wait for an adoption event. Story
Meet Dorori | Apply Here Dorori is 5 years old and just 28lbs and has quite the remarkable story. Last year during the widespread wildfires in Andong, South Korea, our team and partners braved the flames to rescue as many animals as we could. Dorori was one of many pups that survived, but was left with scars from the fires. Though it’s painful to think of what she went through, we’re glad she’s with us now and her scars are only proof of her bravery! Now in the states, Dorori is continuing on her upward journey. She may be a little shy and timid at first as she adjusts to the hustle of the big city. Once she’s had some time to ground herself though, this lovely lady is curious and ready to explore with you. She loves her downtime in her crate - and we love a dog that loves their independence! She’s slowly but surely coming out of her shell; little playful moments and sweet glances let us know she’s ready to find her forever family. Dorori is also eligible for our Jindo Journey Training Stipend! This means she and her future family are eligible to receive $300 towards their training package - an opportunity to fully thrive for the long haul with guidance and support from trainers that know our dogs well!   You don’t have to wait for an adoption event. Bud | Apply Here | Videos Bud is 1 yr old and already a stunning, sleek Jindo mix weighing in at 39.7 lbs. Bud was originally rescued from the Korean wildfires last year, but his love for fun shows how resilient he is. He’s an absolute riot in his foster home rolling around without a care in the world and sleeping with his mouth wide open. We’re sure he’ll even snore once he gets really comfy. He’s not all looks either; Bud has some real brains! He’s great on the leash and is taking kindly to the icy sidewalks.
