Story
🐾 Meet Wiley 🐾 In seattle. 📌 Basic Profile 🐶 Name: Wiley 🐕 Breed: Jindo mix 🎂 Age: 3 years ⚖️ Weight: 23.6 kg (52 lb) 🚹 Gender: Male (neutered) 🎨 Color: Cream beige --- 💛 Personality & Charm Wiley is a smart and charming boy who truly enjoys learning. Training keeps him happy and mentally engaged, and he quickly picks up new skills. He already knows many commands such as sit, stay, come, lie down, quiet, and shake, and he’s always eager to learn more. Because of his past, Wiley needs time to build trust. Once he feels safe, he forms a deep bond and shows affection in his own gentle way. He is soft in play and has a goofy personality that often makes his people laugh. Wiley is happiest outdoors — especially if he has space to run or wildlife to observe. He could spend hours quietly watching squirrels and birds. He’s curious, intelligent, and content with a routine-filled life that includes outdoor time and peaceful surroundings. He is cautious with new people at first, but once he warms up, he becomes affectionate with both men and women. He takes treats gently and is very sensitive to human emotions. If someone close to him feels upset, he will wag his tail and try to comfort them. --- 🩺 Health & Care Wiley is in excellent health and fully up to date on vaccinations. Takes a monthly oral flea and tick preventative (he is uncomfortable with topical applications). Occasionally may vomit if his stomach is empty too long, so he receives a small snack after waking and before bedtime. Maintains dental health with special treats, toys, and food. Uses a scratch board for nail care when given the command “paw” — he has not needed traditional nail trimming in over two years. Naturally clean and keeps his coat tidy on his own. He has never required a bath. Still building comfort with brushing and ear cleaning, but has made great progress through cooperative care training. --- 🐾 Compatibility 👶 Children: Best suited for a home without young children. While he enjoys affection, if he does not want interaction at a certain moment, he may respond by snapping. 🐶 Other Dogs: Does well with calm, respectful dogs. Not comfortable with overly energetic or pushy dogs. Should be fed separately due to resource guarding with food and treats. 🐱 Cats: Not recommended due to high prey drive. --- 🎓 Training & Behavior ✔️ Potty Training: Fully trained — no accidents in over two years. ✔️ Crate Training: Not crate trained; prefers open areas. No separation anxiety and can stay home alone for hours calmly. ✔️ Car Rides: Calm and improving. Previously had motion sickness as a puppy; still takes preventive meclizine for long trips. ✔️ Leash Walking: Calm and non-reactive toward people and dogs. May become excited when spotting squirrels or cats, so a firm grip is helpful. ✔️ Barking: Rarely barks; usually only to alert. ✔️ Energy Level: Medium — enjoys two walks daily and plenty of nap time. ✔️ Destructive Behavior: None. --- 🏡 Ideal Home Wiley would thrive in a peaceful, patient household with people who understand and respect his independent nature. A secure yard or safe outdoor space where he can explore and watch wildlife would make him happiest. To the right family, Wiley will offer deep loyalty, intelligence, and quiet companionship. 🐾💛

Meet Maria – A Gentle, Affectionate Girl Looking for Her Forever Home!   Name: Maria Age: 4 years Sex: Female (Spayed) Breed: Jindo Mix Colour: Black & Beige Weight: 12.3 kg (27 lbs) Height: 52 cm (20.5 inches)   Maria’s Rescue Story   Maria was rescued from a municipal shelter in April 2026 after being placed on the euthanasia list. Now safe, she’s ready for a fresh start with a loving family of her own!   Personality & Socialization   Maria is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and people-loving girl! She warmly approaches both familiar faces and complete strangers, happily leaning against them for affection and snuggling close.   She loves being petted and will even roll over to show her belly to someone she’s just met! One of her favourite things is simply lying beside her people and enjoying some gentle attention.   Maria is friendly with men, women, and children under 13. She’s also very food-motivated and happily accepts treats from new people.   She can be picked up, although she may initially wiggle or jump to avoid being lifted. Once she’s comfortable, she settles nicely in your arms.   With Other Dogs   Maria politely approaches unfamiliar dogs to say hello but isn’t particularly interested in playing. She’s more of an independent girl around other dogs and generally prefers doing her own thing.   People are definitely her favourite companions!   With Cats   Maria hasn’t been tested with cats yet, but testing can be arranged.   Energy Level & Walks   Maria is a calm, low-energy girl who enjoys relaxing and taking it easy. She becomes more enthusiastic during outdoor activities and, of course, when food or treats are involved!   She may pull on the leash at the beginning of a walk, but after a little while, she settles into a comfortable pace and walks nicely beside her handler.   Maria absolutely loves sniffing and exploring the world through her nose. You’ll often find her with her nose close to the ground, investigating all the interesting smells!   Good to Know   • Rarely barks, although she may bark to let you know it’s mealtime! • Shows no food guarding toward people or other dogs. • Remains calm and quiet once inside her travel kennel. • Feels nervous about getting into cars and currently needs to be lifted in. • Currently does her potty breaks outdoors.   Maria’s Ideal Home   Maria would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle, affectionate, and easygoing dog.   She doesn’t need constant excitement or endless playtime. What makes her happiest is spending time with people, enjoying leisurely sniffing walks, and relaxing beside someone who loves her.   If you’re looking for a sweet girl who has plenty of affection to share, Maria might just be your perfect match! Story
Meet Bonnie A gentle little soul who blossoms with patience and love.   Age: 5 years Sex: Spayed female Breed: Mixed Colour: Cream Weight: 9.3 kg / 20.5 lbs Shoulder height: 32 cm / 12.6 inches   Her rescue story Bonnie was rescued from a municipal shelter in March 2025 when euthanasia was taking place. Her shy nature made it harder for her to find a home, and she joined the AKR centre in December. Since then, she has been gently practising becoming comfortable with touch and handling.   With people Bonnie can be a little shy at first, but she will accept treats and usually allows gentle petting right away. Being picked up takes a little more trust. She does not struggle or nip when lifted, and with practice, she no longer has nervous potty accidents during handling. In a new home, however, she may feel unsure again, so a slow, gentle approach will help her feel safe.   Once Bonnie opens her heart, she loves staying close to her person—and often rolls over to show her belly! She could be a lovely companion for someone living alone. A quiet adult home or a home with calm, respectful teenagers would suit her best, as sudden movements and squeals from children under 13 may frighten her.   With other dogs Bonnie will approach unfamiliar dogs to say hello, but she usually saves playtime for friends she knows well. She tends to feel most comfortable with dogs her size or smaller. If another dog provokes her, she generally chooses to walk away.   With cats On walks, Bonnie stays focused on her person even when she sees cats. She has not yet had a formal cat test, but one can be arranged.   Energy & walks Bonnie has a low energy level and enjoys spending much of her day resting calmly. Occasionally, she celebrates a happy moment with a little burst of zoomies—usually over in less than a minute!   She enjoys sniffing and exploring in quiet areas. Busy, noisy places can make it harder for her to relax. Passing children and joggers generally do not bother her, but cars and motorcycles can frighten her, and she may cling to her person for reassurance.   Life at home • She has shown no food guarding around people or other dogs. • She rarely barks. • She settles quietly when placed in a kennel. • Getting into a car worries her, so she currently needs to be lifted in. • She currently does most of her pottying outdoors, though she may need patience and guidance in a new home.   Bonnie’s ideal home A peaceful home, a gentle routine, and someone who will let trust grow at her pace. Once she feels safe, Bonnie’s favourite place is close to the person she loves.   Could you be Bonnie’s person? Story
Meet Cocoon Age: 2 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Brown Weight: 16 kg (35 lbs) Height: 49 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story   Cocoon was rescued from a small mountain village where he had been confined in a raised wire cage, kept for meat purposes along with two other dogs. A kind individual began secretly taking care of them. Around Boknal (the traditional summer days associated with dog meat consumption), the two other dogs disappeared. Determined to save the remaining dog, a report for abuse was filed, and after significant confrontation with the owner, Cocoon was finally rescued in October 2025.   He is now experiencing life outside of a cage for the very first time.   ‍‍‍ Social with People   Cocoon is affectionate and friendly, not only with familiar people but also with strangers. He happily approaches for pets and leans his body in for affection.   He currently lives with children under 13 and does very well with them.   When his people return home, he can get overly excited and may jump up enthusiastically — younger children could accidentally get knocked over during these moments. With structure and training, this can continue to improve.   He allows being picked up (arms under his belly) and will show his tummy once he feels comfortable.   Social with Other Dogs   Cocoon is generally friendly and curious with other dogs. He approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and initiate play, especially those similar in size or larger than him.   If another dog challenges him, he may respond, so careful introductions are important at first.   With dogs he knows well — especially confident “big brother” types — he can be submissive and even roll over to show his belly.   On walks, he wants to greet every dog he sees. His enthusiasm can be overwhelming for shy dogs, and if another dog reacts defensively, Cocoon may stand his ground rather than back away.   Cats   Cocoon has not been formally tested with cats. However, he does show interest in birds and small movements outdoors and may try to lunge toward them. While manageable on leash, he appears to have some prey drive. A cat-experienced home would be safest.   Energy Level   Having lived confined for much of his life, Cocoon is now discovering the world with curiosity and excitement. He is highly interested in everything happening around him.   Previously, he would become very excited when seeing other dogs during walks, but he is gradually becoming more stable and regulated.   With sufficient outdoor activity and enrichment, he settles nicely at home.   Walking   Cocoon can pull on leash, especially at the beginning of walks due to excitement and curiosity. After about 30 minutes, his energy noticeably decreases and he walks more calmly.   With consistent daily walks and routine, he continues to improve.   He enjoys sniffing much more than fast walking — expect lots of stop-and-go sniff breaks.   Other Behaviors   • Does not guard food from humans • May growl if another dog approaches while eating • Accepts treats politely when sitting side-by-side • Can be vocal when playing with other dogs • Calm in a kennel • Jumps in and out of the car independently • Primarily eliminates outdoors • Marks frequently during walks   Ideal Home   Cocoon would thrive in an active home that can provide: Consistent structure and leadership Proper dog introductions Continued leash and impulse control training Plenty of outdoor enrichment   He is a resilient, affectionate survivor who is learning what it means to be safe and loved.   After everything he has endured, Cocoon deserves a home where he will never be confined again — only cherished. Story
Janggo Age: 2 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Beige, Black, White Weight: 15 kg Height (shoulder): 50 cm   Rescue Story Janggo was rescued from a wildfire-affected area in 2025. She had been taken by a household to be used as a wild boar hunting dog, but because of her gentle nature, she was deemed unsuitable. Instead, she was tied up and left to guard a field.   ‍‍ Personality with People Janggo is naturally affectionate and enjoys being around people, but due to her past of being tethered and isolated, she can be cautious and a little timid with strangers at first.   If someone nearby has treats, she will approach on her own—sometimes pawing gently to ask for them . When approached for petting, she may briefly step back, but once she feels safe, she lowers her body and comes closer, even lying down to be petted.   In open spaces, she may initially avoid being caught and run before settling. However, once she bonds, she becomes very affectionate—approaching first, rolling onto her back, and asking for belly rubs   It took her about three weeks after rescue to fully trust her caregivers at the center. She can be picked up by supporting under her belly, and once comfortable, she happily shows her belly.   She also knows basic commands such as sit, down, and wait.   With Other Dogs Janggo is very social and friendly with other dogs. She approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and play, regardless of their size. Even if another dog provokes her, she tends to avoid conflict and shows a gentle temperament.   With Cats She may try to chase moving cats during walks, but shows little interest in cats that are stationary.   Energy Level She has a moderate energy level. After sufficient outdoor activity, she settles down calmly to rest. When she has compatible playmates, she enjoys running and playing, then resting in between . If there are no playmates, she is content to relax on her own.   Leash & Walks Janggo is both curious and a little cautious. On calm, familiar routes—or when following interesting scents—she may pull slightly in the direction she wants to go.   In busier urban environments, she tends to stay close to her handler. She often walks with her ears slightly back, showing she may feel a bit uneasy in crowded areas. Sudden loud noises can startle her at times.   Other Behaviours • No food guarding toward people or other dogs • May bark to ask to come out when other dogs are being let out • May show demand barking before meals • Tends to bark along if other dogs bark at unfamiliar people • Settles in a kennel after a brief period of whining • Experiences motion sickness in the car • Primarily does outdoor potty • Tolerates baths well and is calm during nail trimming • Overall gentle and easy-going temperament   Janggo is a sweet and gentle girl who just needs a little time to build confidence. Once she feels safe, her affectionate and loving personality truly shines Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram!
