NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY APPLIED TO ADOPT FAUNA. Please do not apply if you are retired and over the age of 70. Fauna is only 3 and we’d like to guarantee she spends the rest of her life with her next home. Fauna is a 3 year old (April 2023) Australian Labradoodle who is about 18-20 lbs. She generally has a calm temperament, is relatively quiet, and will find every opportunity to sit on you. She enjoys both stuffed and rubber toys and is quite treat-motivated when it comes to training. She is flexible in energy levels - she can stay home all day or she can run laps at the dog park. She is likely the best fit with someone with a younger household with similar energy levels as her and who doesn't mind a slightly anxious dog. We love her and would love to spend the rest of her life together, but unfortunately, some medical issues on our part have arisen and we can no longer keep her. She has no known major medical issues aside from some mild seasonal allergies.

TJ is almost 2 years old, about 60 pounds, and has been waiting far too long for his forever family. He is blind, though he can see some shadows, and he navigates the world with an incredible amount of confidence, trust, and joy. Once he gets familiar with his surroundings, he does amazingly well. The best thing about TJ? He is just pure love. He is affectionate, goofy, gentle, and deeply people-oriented. He loves attention, loves being close, and has the kind of happy, grateful personality that makes everyone who meets him fall a little bit in love. TJ is also wonderful with other dogs. He enjoys dog friends, is social, and has a playful, silly side that is incredibly endearing. He is one of those dogs who reminds you every day how resilient and joyful dogs can be. Because TJ is blind, he will do best in a home that can give him a little patience and consistency as he learns the layout and routine. He does not need pity — he just needs someone kind enough to give him a chance. TJ is well-adjusted, loving, and so ready to settle into a real home of his own. After 265 days at the rescue, TJ is more than ready for his happy ending. He has so much love to give and will make an incredibly loyal, affectionate, and rewarding companion for the lucky person or family who chooses him.

Story
Meet our Mexican rescue, Canelo. 🐾 Canelo is a 7-month-old Lab mix weighing about 30 pounds, and he’s expected to grow into a medium-sized dog of around 40–55 pounds. Not every puppy gets a second chance. Canelo almost didn’t. At just a few months old, he was found alone on the streets of Jalisco, Mexico after being separated from his siblings when they were abandoned. He was miles away from them, painfully thin, suffering from bronchitis, and so weak he could barely stand. Every rib and bone showed. No puppy should ever have to start life that way. Today, thanks to months of love, veterinary care, and dedicated fostering, Canelo is finally healthy and safe in San Francisco. Now all he needs is the one thing we can’t give him—a forever family. Canelo is a happy, goofy, active puppy with a huge personality. He loves playing with other dogs but also enjoys winding down in the evenings with a favorite chew or toy. He’s sassy, playful, and guaranteed to make you laugh as he navigates his rambunctious teenage puppy phase. He loves rolling in the grass, chewing on toys (he’s still teething!), going for car rides, visiting dog parks, and joining every adventure. He’s food motivated and eager to learn. He already knows sit, paw, high five, and twirl—all in Spanish! He’s house-trained and thrives with structure, continued training, daily exercise, and enrichment. He would make an incredible hiking, running, or adventure companion. Canelo would do best with an active, dog-savvy adopter committed to positive reinforcement. A home with a confident, well-socialized larger dog would be an excellent match, and a yard or active lifestyle would help him burn off his puppy energy. Because of his prey drive, Canelo cannot live with cats or other small animals. Due to his mouthy, excitable teenage puppy behavior, he’s also not the best fit for homes with young children. Canelo has overcome more in seven months than most dogs experience in a lifetime. While his siblings’ stories remain unknown, he was one of the lucky ones who survived and made it to the United States for a chance at a better life. But his journey isn’t complete yet. He survived. He learned to trust again. Now he’s just waiting for someone to choose him. Please help us find Canelo the forever family he’s been waiting for. ❤️
