Story
Cookie is a sweet 9-year-old Labradoodle weighing 45 lbs. We brought him home from a breeder when he was just 8 weeks old. He's well-trained and doesn't require much exercise—just a pleasant 15-20 minute walk in the morning and evening. Over the past year, we've faced some challenges that prevent us from caring for him as we would like. We're hoping to find someone who can give Cookie a loving home, preferably someone who stays at home and can spend quality time with him.

Meet Auto! Auto is a handsome 5-year-old Lab mix who has already shown us just how much a little patience and kindness can change a life. Found wandering around a Pick & Pull, Auto arrived feeling scared and unsure of the world. But over the past couple of weeks, this sweet boy has made tremendous progress and is now ready to find a family of his own! At first, Auto was understandably nervous and overwhelmed. He was hesitant about leashes, handling, and new experiences, but he quickly learned that his people could be trusted. Today, he`s much more confident and loves staying close to his handlers, often leaning against their legs for reassurance and affection. He`s even shown that he can relax and cooperate beautifully with handling and restraint. Once outside, Auto`s playful personality really comes out! He enjoys exploring and spending time with his people, and he has even started showing interest in playing with other dogs. During his most recent dog introduction, he was a little enthusiastic about getting close, but when the other dog gave him a correction, Auto responded appropriately, disengaged, and remained neutral afterward. He may enjoy having a canine companion, but a dog-to-dog introduction is required to make sure everyone is a good match. Auto is still learning the basics and will benefit from an adopter who can provide continued training, structure, patience, and positive reinforcement. He is a work in progress, but he`s already demonstrated that he is more than capable of learning and growing when someone gives him the chance. Auto`s journey from a frightened, unsure dog to the sweet and increasingly confident boy he is today is truly special. He`s got all the pieces to become an amazing companion—he just needs someone willing to help guide him in the right direction. If you`re looking for a loyal buddy who will happily stick close by your side and are ready to help a deserving dog continue his incredible transformation, Auto may be your perfect match!

Lucky Charms is the definition of a sweet, cuddly, eager-to-please good boy. He loves being close to people, soaks up affection, and has that special kind of loving energy that just makes you want to keep him by your side. He’s also a smart and willing learner who truly wants to please. Once he’s fully healed, we think he’s going to thrive as an active companion who enjoys training, learning new tricks, and joining you on life’s adventures. Right now, Lucky Charms is on bed rest while his leg continues to heal from a fracture—and he’s been doing great. We also believe Lucky Charms may be deaf in one ear, but it doesn’t slow him down at all. Dogs like him are incredibly resilient and often build even stronger connections with their people through communication and trust. Lucky Charms came to Oakland Animal Services before coming to Heart Dog Harbor. Despite everything he’s been through, he has remained incredibly loving, gentle, and trusting. He’s truly a special dog—so sweet, so loving, and so ready for his next chapter. He is the very definition of a good boy!
