We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have.Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | BONDED WITH MABEL - Adopt a Bonded Pair! Meet Betsy, the super sweet girl who defines the term "nanny dog"— including raising her best friend's puppies! (Just see the photos ; ) She is adoring of others, wonderfully patient, and has the most gentle, vigilant nature. Betty thrives when she is close to other dogs, offering quiet comfort and companionship. If you are looking for a loyal, nurturing, and incredibly tender-hearted companion who will shower every member of your family with devoted attention, Betsy is ready to be your most caring co-pilot. Personality | Betsy has been learning how to trust people and how to enjoy being a dog and she has been improving steadily! . She loves cuddling up in your pillows, or on your couch. She has learned how fun stuffies are and loves prancing with them around the yard. SHe is very very sweet adn LOVES meeting new people. Story | Found in the bush in TX!Other Dogs | She adores Mama Mabel and also is friendly with the other dogs in her foster home! She has interacted with many off leash dogs at the huge Chatfield dog park and has been great.Cats | Good with cats! She was fostered with a kitty in Texas and ignored him! SHe is not curretnly living with any cats Children | Great with kiddos once she warms up!Training | She is very smart and has been quick to pick up on the basics. She also is housetrained and is good in a crate.Leash | Betsy initally was not comfortable walking on leash but after some patience and a good harness she is excellent and loves going for walks!Activity Level | medium. She loves playinfg tag and going on walks but she is also hapy to crash out and cuddle.Health Notes | Betsy is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education and care. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians, and has already started her treatment process. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting this sweet gal!Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in.
