Story
Charlie is a shy, but a loveable guy looking for his forever home. Rescued from a rural shelter in Southeast Colorado and now looking for his special family. He may need time to warm up to new people and new things can be scary for him. He builds confidence fairly quickly. After warming up, he is the sweetest and most gentlest dog- very loving & affectionate. He likes to play with his toys and other dogs. He is a snuggle bug, that thinks he's a lap dog😅 CHARLIE is dog and cat friendly. He really loves playing with his toys and other dogs. He will do fine with kids. He knows how to sit and walks well on a leash. He is potty and crate trained. He would love to have another dog in the household- He enjoys having other dogs around him, it makes him feel more at ease, helps with confidence and is more comfortable with other dogs around leading the way for him to learn. He will need someone who is patient and sensitive. Charlie is an awesome guy! He is a true diamond in the ruff! Charlie has come a long way since first coming to the awesome Foster that he's with. He was broken down and pretty scared of everything. He has now came out of his shell and found his voice. He was an unpolished jewel that is now polished off to show people he can be the best dog he can be! Charlie's backstory: Healthy pup that came from a Southern Colorado shelter, where he was sentenced to death just to free up space. Not a lot is known about his past, but it was obvious he came from an abusive environment. Adoption application:⏬ https://form.jotform.com/202544773175054

Looking for a bottom of the bed heater? A snuggle bug? A perfect pup pillow? Rudy is the guy for you! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.  Personality Rudy has had a very tough go of things over the past year but he is so very sweet and gentle.  Once he relaxed enough in his foster home to start wagging his tail it now almost never stops!  He can be shy with new people and will often  bark at them in the house but it's important to emphasize that he is not doing this out of aggresion. He obviously has lived in a house before as he is house trained and not destructive at all.  He jumped rigght up on the bed the first night and was so very happy!  It would be great to find a home for him where he can sleep next to his humans.   He is INCREDIBLY sweet and so happy to be in a home again.  He needs a place that will spoil him rotton!    He also LOVES the water!!!  Notes from the shelter volunteer - Rudy’s sad labby eyes and soulful demeanor stopped me as I was going down the row. Rudy is a little timid, however he was nothing but pleasant for me! He happily took my treats with a very soft mouth. Rudy let me leash him easily and is definitely potty trained! He also accepted my pets. He was too distracted by all the new sights and sounds to do much else outside, but he perked up when he saw his friend Jake through the kennel. Rudy definitely felt safest back in his kennel, and happily went back in. He posed for my pictures and gave me the saddest puppy eyes. Taking treats - https://youtu.be/alaPTwiUuEs Outside - https://youtu.be/LfdUpvOE6TA Inside his kennel - https://youtu.be/2rQnQw1cTRQStory | Max, Rudy, Jake and Rocky have a very sad story. They were abandoned in the streets by their owners, and when contacted to let them know their 4 senior dogs were at the shelter, the owners said they no longer want them. Unfortunately this put them at immediate risk of euthanasia at the shelter due to their age and limited capacity.Other Dogs | Friendly. Rudy enjoys being around other dogs. He is gentle and sweet during introductions.  He has tried to initiate play with his foster sister pup several times.  He is not great with smaller dogs and puppies. until he has spent a fair amount of well supervised time with them.  Cats | Unknown but he does seem to have a strong prey drive with squirrels, rabbits and ducks.  Children | unknown but he can be shy with new people and sudden movements (not aggressive) so older kids would be best.Training | House trained and well-mannered! Takes treats nicely.  He knows the basics very well! He can be a bit of an escape artist (ask me how I know!) so a very secure yard would be a good idea.    Leash | Walks nicely on leash. Enjoys to stop and sniff.  LOVES going on walksActivity Level | Medium-low. Health Notes | Rudy is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Rudy!  He also has lost a fair amount of his teeth, most likely because of the time he spent in the wild.  He also has some arthritis and hip issues.Thank you! | Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. April 23, 2025, 1:12 am

Story
Finn - is a handsome boy, who doesn't have a lot of reference for humans. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, but he is just not sure about the people taking care of him. He loves his dog friends and hasn't met a single one he doesn't like... and they are teaching him that trusting the 2-leggers is OK. Finn is looking for a long term relationship with that special person who has the patience he needs, and is willing to slowly gain his confidence. If you have another dog that could help show him the ropes, that would be great, but not necessary. ##2234670##
