Story
My name is Lucas and I am 7 years old and very sweet. I love cuddles and will follow you and be by your side. I love being a faithful companion. I don't bark much. I love chew toys, balls, and my big bed. I am trained to stay in the yard with no fence, you just have to show me my perimeter and practice it with me. I don't chew things up or destroy stuff, my mom says Im a pretty chill and well behaved guy . I do sometimes resource guard with bones and sticks in the yard so my mom no longer give bones. Im on monthly preventative for fleas and ticks( Simparico Trio). I have disc disease in my back so I take gabapentin daily for pain management. Over all I manage fine I just cant rowdy play and I go for shorter walks. I need a home with no young kids and no other dogs. My mom is only rehoming me because I am struggling with the arrival of a new baby. So for safety reasons, we are making changes. If you would like me as your companion, send my mom a message and we can meet!

She's wonderful with kids, making her a fantastic addition to a family looking for a loyal four-legged friend who enjoys being part of the action. She also gets along great with other dogs, so she'd be thrilled to have a canine sibling to romp and play with—or she'd be just as happy soaking up all the love as your one-and-only.     Apply today and open your heart and your home to this wonderful girl—she'll show you just how much love a rescued dog can bring. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
We have received a large number of applications for Ella, and are not accepting new ones as we work our way through the ones that have come in. Ella may have been born in South Carolina, but she was made for the Chesapeake. This tiny, one-year-old chocolate doodle is happiest anywhere there’s water, whether she’s paddle boarding, soaking up the sun, or taking a dip in the pool. She is an absolute dream with the sweetest, most gentle personality. Ella loves dogs, cats, kids, and every grown-up she meets. She’s fully house- and crate-trained, rides beautifully in the car, and is the kind of easygoing companion who fits right into any adventure. If you’re looking for a lovable little sidekick who will happily join you on the water and then cuddle up at home (after you’ve dried her off, of course!), Ella is ready to make every day a little brighter. 🤎 My Profile Age: 1 year old Weight: 33 pounds Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Yes Fenced yard: No Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Yes House trained: Yes. Story
If you are interested in adopting or fostering this dog. Please visit our website - www.cockeradoptions.org   There, you will find the current status of the dog, the links to our adoption and foster applications, and detailed information about our adopting and fostering procedures.   MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Melon, and I arrived at CSAC from a shelter. I was taken to a shelter by my former owner. The CSAC volunteer said that I was very sweet and loved to sit in her husband's lap or on his feet during my freedom ride. I need a home that will help me lose a few pounds, but as a senior girl, my walking will be limited. I do like to stand up and dance around on my hind legs. I want a calm household that will love me for the rest of my days and become my new cuddle buddy. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished pet. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. FRITZ'S TURN!Sweet Fritz has been waiting far too long for his chance, and we are determined that one way or another, this boy is getting out!Fritz's journey with us started 6 months ago when we first met him alongside another shelter dog, Blizzard. While Blizzard was eventually able to move on to a new life, Fritz had obstacles to overcome before he could follow. Before arriving at the shelter, Fritz lived a heartbreaking life. He spent his days chained outside with a collar that had become so deeply embedded in his neck that the skin had literally begun growing around it. The wound required extensive healing, and for months Fritz patiently waited while receiving the care he needed.Through it all, Fritz never stopped being the sweetest, happiest boy. While other dogs came and went, Fritz waited. He watched others leave for homes while he stayed behind and healed. Through it all, Fritz remained hopeful, greeting everyone with a wagging tail and that unforgettable smile. But now, at long last, Fritz has completely healed and is finally ready for the life he deserves. At approximately 1-2 years old and around 55 pounds, Fritz is everything you could want in a companion. He's incredibly friendly, loves people, and greets everyone with kisses, cuddles, and the biggest smile you've ever seen. He has tested wonderfully with several dogs at the shelter and enjoys canine companionship. As always, dogs in the home should be introduced properly. Cats are an unknown. And here's the best part: Fritz isn't just sweet he's smart!Fritz is crate trained, fully housetrained, and will likely need a brief refresher on house manners as he settles into home life after spending so much time in a shelter environment. The good news? He takes redirection beautifully and is eager to please. He already knows 'sit' (even without a treat in sight!) and comes when called. He's a smart boy who wants to learn and be part of a family. We can't wait to see Fritz discover things most dogs take for granted a yard to run in, a comfy bed, toys of his own, regular meals, and a family who loves him. His whole world up to this point has been far too small. He's ready to explore, learn, trust, and be loved.Fritz is currently being fostered in Alexandria, Virginia, and is available to meet approved adopters. We believe Fritz to be 1-2 years old. He is fully vetted and neutered. His adoption fee is $275. If you think Fritz might be the missing piece in your family, please complete an adoption application today:www.tinyurl.com/adopt-shprFritz has waited long enough. Let's show him that the very best chapter of his life is about to begin.     Melissa Unverferth, Adoption Coordinator Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (MAMAS)/Safe Haven Puppy Rescue   Check us out on Facebook and 'like' our page!  https://www.facebook.com/mamasanimalshelter https://www.facebook.com/groups/2234295296791180 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 28, 2026, 2:28 pm
