Story
Ella was adopted August 2026! Ella may have been born in South Carolina, but she was made for the Chesapeake. This tiny, one-year-old chocolate doodle is happiest anywhere there’s water, whether she’s paddle boarding, soaking up the sun, or taking a dip in the pool. She is an absolute dream with the sweetest, most gentle personality. Ella loves dogs, cats, kids, and every grown-up she meets. She’s fully house- and crate-trained, rides beautifully in the car, and is the kind of easygoing companion who fits right into any adventure. If you’re looking for a lovable little sidekick who will happily join you on the water and then cuddle up at home (after you’ve dried her off, of course!), Ella is ready to make every day a little brighter. 🤎 My Profile Age: 1 year old Weight: 33 pounds Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Yes Fenced yard: No Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Yes House trained: Yes. She's wonderful with kids, making her a fantastic addition to a family looking for a loyal four-legged friend who enjoys being part of the action. She also gets along great with other dogs, so she'd be thrilled to have a canine sibling to romp and play with—or she'd be just as happy soaking up all the love as your one-and-only.     Apply today and open your heart and your home to this wonderful girl—she'll show you just how much love a rescued dog can bring. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
House trained: Mostly, with an occasional accident Energy level: High Noise level: Quiet My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Destine (Mini) is her adorable obsession with her ball! Hi, Im Destine, but since were friends now, you can call me Mini! Mini is my nickname from my foster family, and its a perfect fit for me, just like Id be a perfect fit for you! Im a super happy, playful girl who LOVES HER BALL!!!!! Seriously, my ball is my favorite thing ever! I would play with it all day and all night if I could! I cant because I have to spend some time playing with my doggy friends, eating snacks, cuddling my people, and snoozing to save up energy! Energy for more playing with my ball! My favorite games include fetch, chase and run around with the ball, hide and find the ball, chew the ball, and stare adoringly at the ball. If youre a Ted Lasso fan, you get it! Ball is life! My foster family says that Im an amazing pup who is learning more about life outside a shelter everyday! I came from a not-so-great situation, so I can be a little shy to meet new people at first. Once I warm up though, Im everybodys bff! Id do great in a family with other dogs, kids, or as an only child! Id also be happy in the city, with a yard, or anywhere with people who love me! Im a well-behaved pup, and I have a great routine down that makes me easy to take care of. Im good on leash, quiet in the house, and do amazing in my crate during the day and overnight (especially if there is a peanut butter kong involved). I currently live with a doggy foster sibling who I love, and Im learning from him all about doggy social cues, and how to occasionally turn off the puppy energy and just chill. Im a smart girl who loves treats, so Im very easy to train, and I already know come, drop-it, and my name of course! Id be a great fit for just about any family, so long as they like a game of fetch, have plenty of snacks to share, and will give me all the love! Think we might be Destine(d) for each other? Me too! Apply to adopt me today! Please visit our website www.ruraldogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other dogs available for adoption!

Story
We bought Penny four years ago from a Shenandoah Valley breeder when she was seven weeks old. Due to a recent divorce and the death of our older dog, Penny is now alone much of the day and some weekends. She loves people, and she loved playing with her “big sister”. We’re looking for a home where she will have more daily interaction with people and or pets. She’s sweet, well-behaved, and healthy.

Story
Colocho! It means “curly” in Spanish. A 2.5 year old Laradoodle with a heart of gold, very smart and supremely happy, Colocho has a lot of energy and love to give. He would make an EXCELLENT family dog, and loves kids. He is reactive to other dogs outside his “territory”, but otherwise gets along well with dogs no problem. We went to Petco and he was great. He is good with cats too.Colocho has had a bit of a rough start in life. We are not sure, but we think he came from a BYB situation. He was very skinny initially, but has put on some weight thanks to the hard work of his current owner, who sadly can no longer take care of him. Colocho is a typical smart and playful Labradoodle; he has taken well to obedience training and is working on progress with his crate. He needs a neuter (which will be sponsored), but otherwise he’s pretty much set with all “the basics”!

These pups are in Baltimore, Maryland too!

Story
Meet Rolly! This young adult Lab/Bully mix is an active, playful girl who loves being outside, playing with toys, and spending time with her people. Rolly knows sit and stay, is house-trained, crate-trained, and enjoys going for walks. She can be cautious with new people and will need a softer landing as she settles into her new home. Because she can be enthusiastic and doesn't always know her size, an older-child home is recommended. Rolly is required to go to a cat-free home. With the right environment and patient guidance, Rolly is ready for a fresh start!

Story
Breed(s): Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Mix Age: 3 years Weight: 65 pounds Vetting Status: Neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative & maintained on preventatives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for a dog that is all about YOU? A best friend, a loyal companion? Trevor may just be your guy! This handsome, eager to please fella was found as a stray, completely emaciated. He gained over 25 pounds and looks like a completely different dog! Trevor is crate trained, but much prefers having less restrictions and more freedom. His house manners have been stellar in his foster home -- no accidents or incidents. Trevor loves people, a love bug that wants to be the center of someone's world! Hanging out and being in your presence & playing with his K-9 companions fulfills his days. Stuffed Kongs are certainly on the favorites list too. This sweet boy is a highly intelligent and rapidly picked up on learning an array of commands to include sit, lay, paw, kennel, down and no. Trevor also enjoys going for a car ride & will gladly offer to ride shot gun on all your important trips... petstore, mcd's, bank with a drive thru giving out cookies, etc. Trevor has been exposed to a vast array of other dogs, both big & small. He would love to have K-9 companions, but surely would not argue with being a SHD (single hound dog) & the center of attention. Cats seem super fun to chase (eek!) and would NOT be recommended. If you think Trevor may be the pup for you, please visit the link below to fill out an application. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TREVOR is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!

Story
Harper is a sweet and lovable girl. She is used to being around just one person but has been in homes that have multiple people living in the home and children. She loves belly rubs and cuddles and lots of affection and attention. She is anxious. Thunderstorms and new environments make her nervous. Eventually she warms up. She also is a dog that is accustomed and prefers to be inside due to her nervousness. Taking her on walks can be a bit of an exercise due to her wanting to get home the entire time and she will pull at times or be stubborn about leaving the porch. With the right family and lots of patience and hopefully better training I am hoping she grows out of this. She eats twice a day. Is potty trained and goes to the bathroom at least 3 - 4 times a day. She loves snacks and is on kibble but is pretty flexible and open with what she eats and is not on a strict diet. This is not an easy decision for me at all and my hope is that she goes to a loving family or person
