Story
8 year old Yesenia is a lab x boxer looking for a home. Yesenia was surviving when kind strangers might feed her, but had to be a strong resilient girl. They suspect she may have been used for breeding and was subjected to having her tail docked. When they no longer wanted her they just left her to fend for herself. Yesenia reads people well and likes to be comforted by them. Yesenia prefers male dogs and isn’t a fan of cats. She is spayed and vaccinated, weighing a perfect 45 lbs. If you think you might be Yesenia’s second chance as either an adopter or foster, she’d love to hear from you by emailing us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com or going direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (please check your junk mail in case we get redirected)

Story
Meet Kurtis!Kurtis is a big, goofy boy looking for a new place to call home!He is young and active and would do well living in an active lifestyle. Kurtis can be dog reactive on walks, but may benefit from slow introduction to other dogs in order to make dog friends. No cats or small children for this guy as he is still learning boundaries. He sadly can't be an apartment dog, as he is too dog reactive in close quarters with other dogs. This guy has a big bark!He is still working on basic manners and will need to have continued, consistent training. Kurtis is eager to please and is food motivated, which will help a lot! He loves people and he gets so excited, he can't help but show it by jumping all over you. He also has the tendency to mouth when he is overstimulated and over threshold, so patience in establishing boundaries with positive reinforcement training is a must for this guy.He is also eager to get to the destination on walks and with his strength, will pull you along to get there faster - a harness is needed to keep him paced. This guy loves brain games, he eats with a puzzle dish and enjoys a Kong or other treat game through his day for enrichment.***Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Kurtis's person? Apply today!TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Leaving these questions empty inhibits our ability to make the best match possible and effects the likelihood of receiving a call back.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting. Some animals may not be viewable due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors. Kitten and puppy meet and greets are by application only. Phone inquires and emails regarding the status of your application cannot always be prioritized. Story
Hi I’m Bunny. I’m an 8-month-old Jindo mix boy, and I weigh about 10kg—smaller and daintier than most Jindos. People always say I have the purest eyes, but the world still feels a little big and unfamiliar to me. I didn’t get to grow up the way most puppies do. When I was about 3 months old, I was taken to a shelter with my siblings. Instead of learning about the world and playing with humans, I spent my early months behind metal bars, watching the world from a distance. That’s why new places, new sounds, and new people sometimes make me nervous. But… I’m changing. At the training center, I was so shy at first. I would sit quietly, just watching, unsure of what to do. But after a few days, I started wagging my tail when I saw my trainers. I even follow them around for treats and nudge them for pets. Once I trust you, I have so much love to give. I just need someone patient enough to help me feel safe. People always tell me I’m adorable and unique-looking, different from most Jindos. But I hope you don’t choose me just for that. I need someone who understands that love, for me, takes time. At first, I might not come running to you. I might not sit beside you right away. But if you wait for me, if you give me time, one day I’ll come to you on my own—and when I do, it will mean everything. I get along really well with other dogs and love playing with them. I don’t start fights, and I know how to enjoy myself with friends. But with humans, I need a little more time and patience. I’m still learning about potty training—right now, I go outside three times a day, and I’m slowly getting into a routine. I also need extra safety precautions for walks because loud noises scare me, and my strong Jindo instincts might make me try to run back to where I feel safe. Until we build trust, I’ll need a secure double leash and harness when we go outside. I know I might not be the easiest dog at first. But if you choose to wait for me, believe in me, and love me just as I am, I promise I will give you my whole heart in return.
