Story
We adopted Maya 10 years ago from a shelter in Stanaslaus County. She was a run away and lost her family so we took her in as we wanted to get a dog for our two young boys at the time. 9 years ago, unfortunately my ex husband and I divorced and I got sole custody of the kids and Maya. She has been a great companion all these years. My life over those 9 years is now very different than when we first got her and she is now older and requires more companionship. My boys are now grown adults and not here so it is solely me taking care of her. I am still working full time and need to go into the office during the week. As she gets older, this is starting to bother her and she is developing separation anxiety. There is just no way I can be at home with her all the time and she is not happy. I would love to find a loving home with a family who can be home with her and interact with her often. She is a very sweet dog and has a lot more love to give.

Story
Life is pretty amazing when you’ve got a loyal companion like me by your side! My name’s Kirby and I'm 8 years old. I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but if you give me a bit of space and patience, I warm up quickly. As a distinguished older gentleman, I’m perfectly happy lounging on the couch, enjoying short strolls, and soaking up all the pets and cuddles you’re willing to give. Interested in adopting? Visit our shelter during open hours and ask about Kirby A063285March 8, 2026, 3:02 pm

Story
Meet Hazelnut!  This 1 year old cutie pie is so ready for a home of her own.  She enjoys meeting new people and is a happy joyful girl.  She loves other big dogs and would love another playful dog in her home.  Her foster home does not have cats but we’re guessing she would not do well with them, as they would be too much fun to chase.Hazelnut came to our shelter with her 1 day old baby boy.  They soon went to one of our foster homes that specializes in moms with litters.  Hazelnut was a great mom to her puppy (he’s been adopted) and now it’s her turn to enjoy the spotlight and be the center of her adoptive family’s heart.  We’re just starting to learn about Hazelnut’s true personality now that she’s not a mom anymore.  On her first outing outside the home, she enjoyed hiking at the lake, met a couple of dogs on leash, including one 20 pound dog, and did very well.  She enjoyed her time and was well behaved.  We have not seen her around kids but we will update her information as we learn more.  She loves wrestling and chasing with all the dogs in her foster home.  Once everybody has finished playing, she’s happy to lay down and chew a Benebone.  She loves car rides and does very well in the car.  She has good house manners and has not been destructive in her foster home. She is potty trained and sleeps all night in her crate with no fuss or accidents.  We always suggest keeping new dogs on a consistent potty schedule until they’re well acclimated into their new home.  She’s shown no signs of separation anxiety in her foster home.  Hazelnut loves other dogs, she loves to play with the dogs in her foster home, and she also participates in our shelter playgroups.  Check out her playgroup videos here:If you’re interested in adopting Hazelnut, please email her foster family at lori.woodward@comcast.net.
