Bella

Labrador Retriever

Female, Adult
Rancho Cordova, CA
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with cats, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Bella is a 5 year old Cream lab mix (half lab, the other half is a mix of Australian Shepherd and Border Collie). She is a sweet, goofy girl that loves to be around her people. Even though she's a mix of higher energy breeds, Bella is the opposite of a high energy dog. If you take her on a mile and a half walk, you'll be dragging her home the last half mile. Bella is also an anxious girl, who spent a lot of her first year at the vet, so she's extra timid around new people. Once she warms up to you she will be giving you her paw nonstop and asking for pets. Bella is crate trained and has lived well with cats in the home. She has behaved well around other low energy dogs as well (though she does like to chase/play with smaller animals.) She walks well on a leash and can follow basic commands. Bella also has food allergies that require her to be on a prescription diet. She should also be the only dog in the home with no small children.

She is an incredibly sweet, gentle girl who truly wants to be a good dog. She’s wonderful with other dogs and walks beautifully on leash without pulling. She doesn’t chase cats, listens really well and already responds to her name. She’s almost fully house-trained and already cries at the door when she needs to go out. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her crate and settles in with no fuss. She loves chasing a ball and playing, but she’s not mouthy at all—just happy, joyful energy and great manners. Overall, she’s an easygoing, affectionate pup who would fit seamlessly into just about any home with continued exercise and proper training. Maya is an all-around fantastic dog who’s ready to be someone’s best friend. *All Itsie Bitsie Puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, started on vaccines, dewormed, and vet-checked. IBR requires landlord permission for renters and a yard check for all puppies. We do not adopt out siblings. Please allow volunteers a few days to look over applications. An adoption fee applies. Volunteers will CALL if your application is selected for a phone interview.

Story
Meet Hazelnut!  This 1 year old cutie pie is so ready for a home of her own.  She enjoys meeting new people and is a happy joyful girl.  She loves other big dogs and would love another playful dog in her home.  Her foster home does not have cats but we’re guessing she would not do well with them, as they would be too much fun to chase.Hazelnut came to our shelter with her 1 day old baby boy.  They soon went to one of our foster homes that specializes in moms with litters.  Hazelnut was a great mom to her puppy (he’s been adopted) and now it’s her turn to enjoy the spotlight and be the center of her adoptive family’s heart.  We’re just starting to learn about Hazelnut’s true personality now that she’s not a mom anymore.  On her first outing outside the home, she enjoyed hiking at the lake, met a couple of dogs on leash, including one 20 pound dog, and did very well.  She enjoyed her time and was well behaved.  We have not seen her around kids but we will update her information as we learn more.  She loves wrestling and chasing with all the dogs in her foster home.  Once everybody has finished playing, she’s happy to lay down and chew a Benebone.  She loves car rides and does very well in the car.  She has good house manners and has not been destructive in her foster home. She is potty trained and sleeps all night in her crate with no fuss or accidents.  We always suggest keeping new dogs on a consistent potty schedule until they’re well acclimated into their new home.  She’s shown no signs of separation anxiety in her foster home.  Hazelnut’s ideal home would have an active dog buddy for her to romp with, and an active family that wants to include her in fun outings.  Hazelnut loves other dogs, she loves to play with the dogs in her foster home, and she also participates in our shelter playgroups.  Check out her playgroup videos here:If you’re interested in adopting Hazelnut, please email her foster family at lori.woodward@comcast.net.

Story
Hi, I’m RousyI’ve been through a lot, but my heart is still full of love. I came to the shelter a little roughed up, yet kindness is still what I want most. I’m an affectionate girl and happiest when I’m close to my person—soaking up love and giving it right back.I adore treats, gentle attention, and feeling connected. Sometimes I bark at other dogs to get their attention, and I can be a bit vocal in my kennel too. I’m just being honest about how I feel about shelter life. I do currently live with another dog and do well. One of my favorite days was when a volunteer brought me to a quiet room while she did laundry. I felt so calm. I took naps, played with toys, and kept checking in for pets and reassurance. It felt peaceful… like home. I could really picture my life that way.I’m not asking for much—just a safe place, a soft spot beside you, and someone to call my own. I promise to love you with my whole heart.Rousy has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in her new home.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out her playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm.
