Story
Max is a wonderful loving dog that we have to part with due to human medical reasons. He is turning two years old and was raised on a small homestead and is great with other animals and kids. He is an inside dog that has a large yard to play in currently. He needs to be with other pets or a human to be happy. He will not do well if left home alone without a cat or dog to keep him company. He does not like car rides, but I'm sure the right owner can fix that. Because he was raised outside the city he is wary of adult men, but has never bitten or acted in a way to make someone scared. He generally growls or paces for a few minutes until he can sniff their hand. He generally accepts women and children without hesitation. He is every bit a Labrador and is good-natured, but will do better with an experienced owner who hopefully has a pet. He is a big dog that loves to play so please be aware of his size. Most importantly please give him a good life.

Story
Awesome family dog. Unfortunately I no longer have enough time to make his life awesome. With mine and my wife’s type of work we’re gone a lot. He’s great with my kids. I really would prefer him to go to a hunting family. He has a great bloodline and does well hunting birds. Primarily waterfowl. The last two years I haven’t been able to take him more than once. As long as he goes to a family that will love him and take him out for fetch I would be happy.

Story
Patches came to the shelter very shy and shutdown. She has made amazing progress and is ready for her forever home! Patches takes her time to get to know other dogs, but she may do better once she gains more confidence. Patches would prefer a home with older or quiet children, and we are not sure how she feels about cats. Interested in adopting? Visit our shelter during open hours and ask about Patches A051331April 28, 2024, 5:19 pm

Story
Meet our darling Dakota! She is an almost 2 year old, 65 pound, black and white, Labrador/Pit bull mix. This beautiful girl is great with kids and cats but would prefer to be the only dog in the home. She is fine with farm animals: caged chickens, goats, horses and cows. Dakota is being rehomed because she has too much energy for her family existing elderly dog. She is an active girl and will need daily walks. She is the perfect size for an active family that hikes and runs. She loves the water and she loves to jump in the lake! Dakota wants to join you on all life's adventures. She LOVES chew toys so please have lots of toys available! KONG Brand last longer than most. She walks well on the leash and rides well in the car. Dakota knows the commands "sit" and "stay" but needs some more training, as she likes to greet you with jumps. She is housebroken and will go to the door to be let out and if you don't pay attention she will nudge you. Going outside with her and using the command "go potty" will reinforce good habits and a new routine. She can CLIMB and JUMP so please have a securely fenced backyard. She is spayed, microchipped and currently vaccinated. Dakota is waiting for a her forever home. Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5. For Adopt a Pet (scroll way down past “Ask about me”) you will see the biography and underneath that will be the adoption questionnaire link.
