Apply to Adopt Me! Duke was born in January 2026 and is 42 lbs. He is in an ideal stage of puppyhood: full of energy and curiosity while already showing signs of intelligence and eagerness to learn. This possible lab mix responds when called, works for treats, and responds well to positive reinforcement. Duke knows “sit” and is learning more commands. He is leash trained, potty and crate trained, and sleeps through the night consistently.   Duke successfully completed rehabilitation following FHO surgery on his back, right leg, and he has gleefully embraced being allowed to run at full tilt. While he is able to run and play , he must still work on exercises to continue to strengthen his leg - but those exercises are just more ways for him to play. Duke will have delayed neutering (at age 1) to give his leg a full year to build muscle. Duke enjoys people and does well with other dogs. He warms up quickly, seeks out human companionship, and prefers to stay close to his people throughout the day. He has plenty of typical puppy energy and especially enjoys toys, balls, sticks, and chew toys. He loves swimming in his foster's swimming pool.   As with any young puppy, Duke is still learning manners and boundaries. He would do best around dogs with stable temperaments and patience for normal puppy behavior while he continues training. And as is typical of a pup, Duke can be mouthy, so a family with young kids must be aware and have a plan for this.  Why he’s special:  He’s got a head start on training, a heart full of love, and a quiet, thoughtful nature that makes his affection feel earned and genuine. Add in his resilience, and you’ve got a pretty incredible companion.  Since he still needs leash training, we are requiring a secure fenced yard for him. Duke will be adopted with a delayed neuter addendum, which means he will be neutered at a later date at one of our vet partners in the Orlando area and the cost will be covered by the rescue. Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Mater, a 9-year-old, 79-lb. Labrador Retriever mix who is basically the definition of a gentle, easygoing love bug. Mater is house-trained, super chill, and incredibly sweet. His favorite place is right next to his human, preferably with someone giving him all the belly rubs he can get! He doesn’t ask for much—just some affection, a cozy spot to lounge, and the occasional adventure. We’re also slowly helping him shed a few pounds so he can stay happy and healthy. He gets along well with other dogs and is comfortable around his canine foster brother. He’s friendly, confident, and has absolutely no guard-dog tendencies. In fact, Mater’s philosophy is that everyone who walks through the door is a potential new best friend! He isn’t a big barker and is happy to greet just about everyone. Mater enjoys his walks and is a good walking companion. He also loves car rides and gets especially excited when it’s time for walks or mealtime. At home, though, he’s perfectly content lounging around and keeping his human company. He doesn’t need a yard to be happy, although he does love rolling around in the grass when he gets the opportunity. He’s not particularly interested in toys, although every now and then he’ll happily chew on a tennis ball. He’s also a little mouthy when excited—not in an aggressive way, but he sometimes jumps up with his mouth open when he’s happy or excited. He does have a chipped, sharp tooth, so adopters should be mindful of that during his enthusiastic greetings. Because of this excited, mouthy behavior, he may not be the best fit for a home with very young children. Mater isn’t a fan of the vacuum cleaner or very loud noises and would much rather retreat to another room until the commotion is over. Otherwise, he’s an incredibly low-maintenance guy who is happy to simply hang out with his people. Mater is the kind of dog who doesn’t need a lot to be happy. Give him a loving human, a few belly rubs, some walks, and a comfy place to relax, and he’ll be perfectly content. He truly doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and would love nothing more than to find a forever family to spend his golden years beside. Online Adoption Application Sweet girl came into the shelter as a stray and was going to be euthanized after being there for 4 months. She is a beautiful black lab with the sweetest personality. She loves everybody very playful but respectful with other dogs. She ignores the kitties loves kids. She is around 8 to 10 months according to our vets best guess. Luna is a 7 year old, petite, medium sized lab/terrier mix girl. She is housebroken, crate trained and a very well mannered, calm girl at home with her people. Luna can be timid and particular when interacting with new people and other dogs, she is best with calm, polite humans and calm polite dogs - her ideal home would have a quiet household with no small children and calm, patient humans taking things slow. While we would prefer to place her in an only dog home to reduce stress on her, a calm, very polite other dog could work okay. No kitties, please.  Luna is spayed, current on vaccines and healthy.
