Story
Meet Gunner! A gentle and loving six-year-old Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix from Simsbury, CT, whose heart is as big as his 75-pound frame. With his mostly black coat, hints of brindle, and a charming white patch on his chest, he’s a strikingly handsome boy who carries himself with the calm confidence of a true companion dog. Whether he’s lounging by your side or trotting happily on a walk, Gunner’s easygoing nature makes every moment feel warm and effortless. A certified “big teddy bear,” Gunner is the definition of low-maintenance! He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and completely content to relax when left alone—though he’d certainly prefer to be where you are! His favorite activities include leisurely strolls, car rides with the windows cracked just enough to enjoy the breeze, and receiving endless affection. If you’re looking for a dog who will happily follow you from room to room, Gunner is your guy! He’s incredibly friendly with strangers, great with young children, and loves meeting new canine friends. He hasn’t spent much time around cats, but his sweet and gentle nature suggests he’d adjust well with proper introductions. Gunner thrives in a home where he can be part of the daily routine. His schedule is simple—breakfast in the morning, a few potty breaks throughout the day, and dinner in the evening, followed by one last outdoor trip before curling up for bedtime. He isn’t demanding but truly enjoys quality time with his people, whether that means a backyard play session or just lying at your feet while you relax. While Gunner would love to be adopted alongside his brother, Luka, he’s also ready to bring joy to a new family on his own. If you’re searching for a calm, affectionate, and deeply devoted companion, Gunner is ready to be your loyal best friend! Could he be the missing piece in your home? Story
Meet Murphy! A goofy and affectionate two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix currently living in Westminster, MA, whose floppy ears and golden coat are just the beginning of his charm. Murphy is a big-hearted pup (weighing in at 70 pounds) who greets life with playful energy and happy tail wags! He’s a silly guy who often “talks” with little playful noises, making it feel like he’s really trying to communicate with you. He thrives on the simple joys of life like long walks, breezy car rides, chew toys, and full-throttle zoomies in the yard. But don’t let his silly side fool you, Murphy is a smart cookie who responds beautifully to clicker training and is eager to continue learning through positive reinforcement. He’s already mastered sit, lay down, and is working on stay and recall with promising progress. Murphy is wonderfully social with other dogs and would flourish in a home with a confident canine pal to show him the ropes and help him feel secure. Doggie daycare is one of his favorite places, where he truly comes out of his shell. At home, he settles into a steady routine, curling up on his bed or couch for snuggles and quiet time, his version of winding down after a day of play and exploration. Murphy does have some anxiety, especially in unfamiliar or chaotic environments, and has shown fear-based behaviors when feeling trapped. He’s had three incidents where he nipped or bit. Once with a visiting family member entering the home and twice with men in public settings. These moments stemmed from fear, not aggression, and his guardians have worked hard to create structure and help him feel secure. Murphy can be a little nervous around some men, though he does well with many, and has made great progress through consistent training, patience, and love. Because of this, he’ll thrive with a calm, experienced pet parent who understands anxiety and reactivity and can continue supporting his confidence. Slow introductions to new people and surroundings, along with consistency and gentle guidance, will help him blossom. A home without children is recommended. Murphy also benefits from a mindful diet, it's suspected that chicken may contribute to his skin sensitivities, so it has been removed as a precaution, along with regular soothing baths to keep his skin comfortable. With the right care, his golden coat shines almost as brightly as his personality! Are you the kind, dog-savvy companion who can help this smart, sweet, and slightly silly pup thrive in a loving, peaceful home? Story
Meet Jade! A tender-hearted three-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in North Haven, CT, whose peaceful blue coat is as soothing as her quiet spirit. Jade is a gentle girl who thrives in a calm, predictable environment where she can feel safe. Life in a bustling household with children has proven too overwhelming for her sensitive nature, and she’s now searching for a new loving home. She’s beautifully crate trained and finds comfort in cozy nooks when things get too noisy or unpredictable. Stormy weather, unexpected visitors, or loud sounds can stir up her nerves, but with the right structure and gentle support, Jade shows just how deeply she can bond. She’s currently managing anxiety with daily Paxil and benefits from an environment that honors her need for routine and softness. Despite her timidity, Jade is incredibly affectionate with her trusted people, there’s nothing she loves more than curling up on the couch for snuggles or walking calmly through the neighborhood at your side. While Jade is incredibly affectionate with those she trusts, her heightened sensitivity to noise and sudden activity has, on rare occasions, led her to nip when startled or overwhelmed. Most recently, she nipped during a morning interaction with a child, an incident that did not break the skin but served as a clear sign that high-energy environments can be too much for her comfort. This behavior stems from anxiety rather than aggression, and she communicates her discomfort when she feels cornered or overstimulated. Jade would benefit from a calm, adult-only home where her space is respected and her stress signals are understood, allowing her to feel safe and build trust at her own pace. This medium-sized companion (about 50 pounds) also has a soft spot for Nylabones and playtime with dog friends. Jade’s warm, dog-friendly personality means she could flourish alongside a confident canine companion, especially one who can show her the ropes and help her feel more secure. She’s had formal obedience training and responds to “sit” and “stay” with thoughtful focus. Her next family will ideally have a fenced yard, minimal visitors, and lots of time to offer her reassurance and love. Jade would be most compatible with a home where she isn’t left alone for long stretches and where she can continue to grow in confidence through positive reinforcement and consistency. She is still learning the ropes when it comes to house training and will thrive with a patient caregiver who can help guide her with encouragement and routine. Are you the kindhearted, experienced pet parent who can offer Jade the calm, nurturing environment she needs to shine? She’s ready to meet you, melt into your side, and show you the deep loyalty and love she has to share! To learn more or welcome Jade into your home, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com! Story
Kobe is a energetic dog, he loves to be pet and often seeks for your attention, he loves to play in the snow and with his toys. He loves the squeeze toys that makes sounds but he tends to tear them apart and they don't last very long with him. He likes sweet potatoes, loves cheese, carrots, watermelon, peanut butter and treats. He doesn't like very much car rides as he seems calmly nervous but as soon he gets out of the car he gets happy and excited. Loves to go for walks at the park to play fetch, he loves to swim too. He got some training for SD. He likes to bark at the mail oor Amazon man but he never had bite anyone. He needs a home where his new owner will be able to take a good care of him, give him a lots of love and cuddles. He needs a fenced yard where he can be running free and enjoy outdoors frequently. The fee that I put on is to make sure the owner can afford his basic needs. I want a lovely home that ensure me he is in greats hands just like I did with him.
