Story
I got Beau 6 years ago from a breeder in High Point at birth. He is 6 years old and full of life. We live in a neighborhood with a small backyard where he stays at. He is an extremely playful and loving dog. He just wants to lick and love on everybody. We recently have a new baby and between the baby and work I am not able to spend much time with him, and my wife is not a huge dog person. I want him to have someone who can love on him more and play with him. He is full of energy and loves to run. He is registered, and has an incredible pedigree with numerous field trial dogs is his lineage. He's been around kids a couple times and seemed to be great with them. I feel like there is a home out there where he can get more love and attention.

Story
Bambi came to us when her owner was evicted.  She is a wonderful dog, but sometimes does get nervous with new people.  She is low energy and is very loving with her family.  Please give her a chance and see how sweet she is.  Bambi is housetrained and gentle and loves to cuddle!  ##1227982##

Are you looking for a friendly lovebug?  Apollo can be shy for about the first 2 minutes, but then he really wants to be with You.  He is great with other dogs, and is just a super sweet boy.  He does not like to be crated for long periods of time, but really loves to be out in a yard with you or playing with another dog.  He weighs about 35 pounds, and seems to be housetrained.  His face will melt your heart! ##1981885##

Story
Milly is a sweet dog that would do well with someone who could be more involved and keep her active. She does best with one owner, or a couple with no children. I have had her for ten years along with my cat, whom she tolerates. Am no longer able to care for her due to tragic events in my life and no time.. She is house trained but needs to be leash trained and would do well with someone who knows how to give her lots of attention. She is fine around my grandchildren, but is never around other children much. She does not respond well to men or strangers at first, but with time adapts to new people.

Story
Paradise is here to wrap up Tongue Out Tuesday. This pretty brindle girl is about 3 years old and she has been waiting very patiently for someone to come adopt her. She was surrendered due to no fault of her own and lived with another dog in her prior home. She is a sweet, loving girl and she is ready to start a new life with you!Dog Day Out notes, 11/3/23:Paradise is the sweetest dog ever! She will just lay by your side and is a great hugger! She is great with a lot of people around her and was friendly to everyone she encountered. Paradise will make a great companion and has the cutest smile. Dog Day Out notes, 9/2/23: When I arrived at BAS Saturday for dog day out, the staff had picked Paradise for me as a great dog to take out for the day, citing that she loved to hug and was a lot of fun. They were absolutely right, Paradise has a LOT of love to give and isn`t bashful about showing her affection. She likes to sit close on car rides once she gets her fill of wind in her ears. Wasn`t afraid to put her torso in the breeze, either! She did great on the leash and loved exploring and smelling all the trails at Davidson Park. Paradise is sure to make some lucky adopter very happy. Never barked, never lunged other than at one squirrel, just an overall sweetheart. I was also impressed at how well she would listen when we had a short visit at my house. We only encountered a few other dogs on the trail and Paradise was not fazed by them, just kept to her business of walking and sniffing.Dog Day Out notes, 8/19/23: I took Paradise to Great Bend Park and on the Glencoe section of the Haw River Trail. Paradise was a lot of fun! She was excited to be on the trails! She pulls mostly because I was not fast enough for her so she would probably be a great running buddy. She was very good at staying on trail and we let her get in the river a few times along the way so she could cool off. She loved the water! The more time we spent with her she started to slow down to my usual pace and when I stopped to let my friend catch up to us Paradise nicely waited with me while looking at me to see when I’d say - okay let’s go! She would do these cute gallops when she started going again. She wanted to meet everyone she saw and loves to give hugs. She would sit for treats and is food motivated which would probably help with any training. She has such soft fur. Paradise has so much exuberance being outside it made me happy to see her enjoying herself. She

Story
Foster notes, 12/5/23:Rockafella is a good boy. He is a senior guy who has done well to meet and continue to greet the neighborhood children. He is anxious around unknown people and pets. So far, I have been unable to do much about his dislike of cats. It seems to be one of the only things that set him off. He takes 2 walks per day (am and pm), and gets to go out off leash in the back yard as often as he asks. He is arthritic in his joints and cannot jump, so he doesn`t get on the house furniture because of this. I have a ramp for him to get in the car. He doesn`t seem to mind riding in the car. He does get anxious about first time adventures. He does not know how to play with toys, but he will sit for a long time for a good petting. He is a smart dog and a fast learner at most times (except for cats). No house training was required for Rockafella! He knows `come` and will ask to go out. I find his behaviors easy to read when he needs or wants something. He is a quiet dog and barks only at cats, alerts me that he wants to come in, and at unknown strangers and reactive dogs on our walks. He has learned to ignore and walk past yappy dogs in our neighborhood. He does not pull on leash and is mostly a loose leash walker (slow to medium pace). I`ve had no problems leaving him at home alone for up to 4 hours. He likes to go out as soon as I get home. The only time he has gotten into things - he was hungry and was rooting for food. And that was only the first week I had him. Can`t leave bagged dogfood on the floor where he can get to it! He sleeps all through the night. He is developing cataracts. He can see but not clearly at a distance . He will stand and stare at something. If it moves he may lunge after it. If it doesn`t move, he will move on. This can be funny when he stares at a bag or toy, only to discover it isn`t a cat he`s looking at. He also will miss verbal commands, so his hearing may not be 100%. He doesn`t react to thunder or fireworks. His nose works fine! Rockafella would be a wonderful untrained service dog for a vet or older adult. He loves to be around me and will just either sit facing me (he wants something) or sit with his back to me(wants to be petted). Otherwise, he is sleeping. He doesn`t like to be outside for long periods.

Story
New foster notes, 2/21/24:Dixie is almost finished with her heartworm treatment and is doing well but isn`t allowed to get excited or play too much for another couple of weeks. She`s sweet but doesn`t want anyone but me to take her to potty. She loves my great grandkids who are 2 years to 10 years old. She barks when anyone comes to the house but will stop after about 2 minutes when she starts feeling comfortable. She looks out the storm door at other dogs walking by and will bark. She is house trained and will stand in front of you and just look until you ask her if she wants to go potty. I`m trying to train her to get her leash. She knows different words like sit, come here, get your donut(toy), let`s go, let`s eat, and many more. She has never shown any hostile behavior, but she does have a very stubborn streak. If she wants to check out something, you can not divert her attention to listen to you. She does great left alone in the house and does not need to be crated. She listens well and loves my great grand children. She will tolerate other dogs but always on guard when they are around her. I don`t know about cats but she tries to chase squirrels and deer. Foster notes, 1/3/24:Dixie is showing her personality more every day. She loves the toys she received from BAS in her Christmas stocking. She loves the squeaky toy donut, and wants me to throw it and she will bring it back. When first meeting a stranger, she will bark until they sit down. Then, she wants to sniff and wants you to rub her! I haven`t had her around other animals. She will watch the dogs in our neighborhood, but does not bark at them, just looks! She is housetrained and has had no accidents. She is great on the leash, too, always watching me to know which way to go. I take her out about every 2 hours and she will pee every time. She sleeps on her doggie bed in my bedroom all night, and goes out around 7 A.M. on the leash. Dixie thinks she needs a treat every time she comes in from her walks! She does great unsupervised. I tell her I will be back in a minute and she understands that and will go lay on her bed or on the couch. She knows the commands, sit, down, give paw, give me kiss. Still working on other commands. Dixie has a short attention span and is energetic! My daughter plays with her to help with her energy. Dixie gets along with anybody once she gets used to them. (About 5 minutes or less)! Other notes:Dixie, hot pink is definitely your color! This
