Story
Meet Nugget! Nugget (dob 7/11/25) is a sweet mixed breed puppy (best guesses - Lab/Pit/Carolina Dog?) who’s as lovable as he is adorable. This little guy has the perfect balance of playful energy and snuggly charm. While he can be a bit timid with new people at first, with patience and love his true personality shines bright. He does love other dogs so another dog in the home may help him adjust to new home. Nugget’s favorite things: • Rolling in the grass and soaking up the sunshine • Chew toys and tasty treats • Snuggling up for naps (he’s a champion cuddler!) • Playing with other dogs and even cats • Running, climbing stairs, and zipping through the doggy door like a pro • Calm bath times and mealtime excitement He’s adventurous too. Nugget even gave swimming a try! While it’s not his favorite, he didn’t hate it either. He’s agile, curious, and learning quickly. Potty training is going really well! Nugget would do best in a home filled with patience, kindness, and love, where he can continue to build his confidence and blossom into the amazing companion he’s meant to be. If you’re ready to add a loyal, affectionate, and playful pup to your family, Nugget is waiting to meet you! ***PLEASE NOTE*** This pup has not yet been altered and requires an extra $100 spay/neuter deposit. JCAPL will pay for the procedure at a partner clinic and once completed, the deposit will be refunded to the adopter. However, a non-local adopter is required to pay for the spay/neuter at their own veterinarian by a specific date. After proof of the procedure is provided, $50 of the adoption fee will be refunded with the deposit. *** Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be submitted online, or sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, or faxed to 919-300-5524. We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. *** Thanks for thinking adoption! ***

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DOB: 05/30/2022 “I like big dogs, and I cannot lie”  Hello, my name is Peach/Peaches/Peachie, I will respond to any of the above. Just like the fruit, I can be sweet and bitter. I am such a cuddly happy girl who loves to play, go on adventures, go on walks, and even cuddle with you in your lap or at your feet. To get to know me, you must know a little bit about my past...I was adopted in 2022 but recently returned due to some issues I was having in my past home. This is time to address my bitter side. I am a resource guarder when it comes to food/treats/bones but only to those on my level (little kids, cats/dogs). I have had no issues with adults and older kids when it comes to this. I wasn't always like this, but something happened in my old home that triggered this resource aggression. I have not bitten or hurt anyone at all, but I will growl and snap at dogs/cats/little kids who come near my food/treats/bones. I still play well with others and would do fine living in a house with dog and cat friends, but best if I wasn't in a home with little kids. I am smart, playful, have manners, and am well-trained, I am just quirky. My foster mom has had no issues with me or handling my food/treats/bones. I will say she has experience in managing resource guarders, but it truly is not difficult to manage. One of my foster moms' personal dogs is resource aggressive too, and that doggie eats her goodies in her crate by herself too, with no issue, and she happily coexists with other doggies and cats when away from those things, much like me! I feel safe in my crate and I prefer to eat my food/treats/bones in my own space away from others (dogs/cats/little kids). This is a really confusing time for me with all the changes that have happened after 2.5 years of being comfy and cozy in what I thought was my forever home. This is all new to me, new people, new foster siblings, new routine, why did my world have to change?   I am looking for someone who will be patient and understand me and my needs, even better if you have experience with resource guarding. I am a wonderful companion and I know I will make someone very happy. If you are interested in meeting me or adopting me, please fill out an application and I promise we will make some SWEET memories together.  Up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Adoption Fee:  $100.00  (AF/KG*)     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 7, 2025, 9:45 pm
