**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Pappy. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs. I was found as a stray in the New Waterford area and I was brought into the pound. I have been a really good boy here at the pound. I am sweet, happy and I like to play, but I am past the puppy shenanigans. I appear to be completely housebroken and I am a good boy when I am in my kennel. I am not a dog that likes being squeezed and hugged, kissed on, poked and prodded. I am a great boy. I am smart. I know commands. I like affection. I am well mannered... But, I do not like certain things, and I will tell you NO. Children don't always understand that cue and that some dogs would rather be left alone sometimes, so I am looking for a family without children. I will also likely need muzzled at the vet for things like annual vaccines and nail trims, as, again, I am not a fan of poking and prodding. I also don't like being messed with while I'm eating. I like to eat in peace, enjoy my treats in peace, then we can talk. I have done well around all of the other dogs that I've met here at the pound. I love going for nice, long walks with the volunteers on the days they're here. I enjoy being out of my kennel, rolling around in the grass and romping around for a little bit... then sleeping for hours. I would make an excellent companion for a single person looking for a dog to keep them company and keep them safe. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My rescued name is Naomi, and I’m so glad to be out of that scary place called the pound   I’m living in a nice foster home with a smaller dog and we get along just fine, but she doesn’t like to play with me as much as I’d like.   I’m only about a year or so old, so love my playtime for sure, (I also LOVE playing with all kinds of toys!) but I also know how to relax and be pretty chill.  I’m all ready for someone to adopt me and finish teaching me all of the things a good dog needs to learn   In the meantime, I’ve learned to use the doggy door here - it’s so cool to go in and out all by myself!  My foster mama says I’m very smart and catch on to things quickly because I love getting treats!  She has a little more to say about me below… We rescued Naomi from an overcrowded pound.  She was very timid there, but settled right in to her foster home immediately.  We are guessing she is about a year to a year and a half old. Naomi is doing really well and is all ready to find her forever humans.  She still may need a little help being introduced to new people and things, but should come around quickly with a bit of patience and training.   Naomi loves to play, so another playful dog or two would also be great for her.  She would love the companionship and having a playmate, plus she would benefit from a canine sibling as a role model.  She loves playing with toys of all kinds, plying fetch or chewing on chew toys or carrying around stuffys.  She loves when someone plays with her, but she’s also pretty good about entertaining herself if she has to.  She is a young, goofy, happy girl who is just waiting for someone to make her their own.     This girl has SO much potential!!  She’s a pretty girl and a great size, too - not too big and not too small.   Our Naomi is young, eager to please, and ready to learn.  if interested in making Naomi one of your very own, you can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here:         adoption application  For anyone viewing this on Petfinder, if you are interested in adopting this animal you will need to go to our website www.rosesrescue.net to fill out the online adoption application. You can usually find more pictures of the animals there too. Click on our name "Roses Rescue" in blue above to be taken directly to our website.        Click here to watch a video of Naomi.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.     July 26, 2024, 10:08 am
