Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. I am Charlie, a young 7 year old black lab mix, weighing apx 60 pounds.I am looking for an older, calmer environment. I walk well on leash and will not bark at orher dogs. In fact, I am well behaved.I grew up from a puppy, with being the only dog with my human brother. A couple years ago our family grew. We moved in with two more  teens, 1 small dog, and 3 cats. I was fine with my new family. I have been with children 10 years and up. I get along with dogs and cats too. I am an easy going guy. However, as time went by, the cat's vomit was my hors'oderve. I became territorial over it. For the full household, it was too hard for my family to always spot the vomit. I couldn't let it be and  became protective of it. I come with a free training session, to be sure I don't become that way again.. I had to move into the rescue.I am house trained and can be alone without issue. My Dad loved me truly and this broke his heart. However, I am ok Dad and I will be getting a new home, that will be my own again. I am a nice, loving boy. I don't even need a fence, because I learned to stay with my people. I like to fetch and be at your side. Will you consider me for your home? **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Steven. I'm about 10 months old and I weigh about 45 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound as a pup in October. When i first came in, it was very apparent that I had never been treated well in my life. I was fearful of everything and I was struggling with fear based aggression. After many months of work and positive reinforcement, I am gaining confidence and I'm finally ready to start looking for the perfect family. I will make an absolutely wonderful dog for someone that is patient and will continue working with me on my training. I've met lots of people lately and I even had a night away from the pound with one of the employees and I have been such a good boy. I can be a little nervous around new people, but once I've met them and get to know them, I am a sweet boy. I even get to go on long off-leash walks here at the pound because I don't try running away from my people. I have been really good with all of the other dogs that I've met. Even if they don't like me, I don't act aggressively, I just walk away. I also do great with the 2 cats here at the pound. I will need some work with potty training, but I am very smart and should pick up on it very quickly. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Rossco is such a handsome boy and loved by everyone here at the rescue, he is such a lover, loves to go for car rides and play ball in the front yard, he will need a fenced in yard for his activities , he loves to sit on the porch with you and climb on your lap any chance he gets. He would do great in a home where he is the only fur child, he has done well with older kids and would be an awesome addition to your home ,great for cuddling on the couch and he loves belly rubs, hates to eat alone lol he would make a great security guard for a single lady, escort you on car rides, and be a cuddle buddy to keep you warm at night

Story
Lilly is such a beautiful girl. Sweet and so good natured. You cannot help but fall in love with her. She loves her playtime outside but also loves being a pampered pooch. She also loves her best friend at the rescue. His name is Winter and we'd love nothing more than the two of them to be adopted together. They are so sweet together. Of course, adopting both is not a requirement. She's an amazing beautiful girl and would be a blessing to any home.
