Meet Oates Nine-month-old Oates has spent nearly his entire life waiting for someone to choose him. Oates came to rescue when he was just one week old, and while all of his littermates have long since found their forever homes, Oates continues to be overlooked. We can't quite figure out why, because Oates is truly a wonderful dog with so much love to give. For most things in life, Oates takes a pretty easy-going approach. New people, new dogs, new experiences... very little seems to ruffle his feathers. However, after spending his entire life in his foster home, he's become deeply attached to his foster mom and the comfort of his familiar routine. Because of this, Oates will need a family that understands transitions take time. When Oates moves to his forever home, he'll need patience, reassurance, and the opportunity to settle in at his own pace. As a cattle dog mix, Oates isn't afraid to use his voice. He isn't a constant barker, but if he has an opinion, a request, or thinks you're taking too long with dinner, he'll happily let you know. We prefer to think of him as an excellent communicator. Oates absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. At the same time, he adores one-on-one attention with his people. Because of this, we think he would thrive either with respectful fur siblings or as the center of attention in a home all his own. One of Oates' sweetest qualities is his sensitive nature. If another dog corrects him, he seems more concerned that he disappointed them than bothered by the correction itself. The same is true with people. Oates responds wonderfully to gentle guidance and redirection and does not need harsh corrections. He wants to do the right thing and tries very hard to make his humans happy. Oates lives peacefully with cats. He firmly believes they all want to be his friends and play with him, though the cats don't always share that opinion. Thankfully, he's gentle, respectful, and easily redirected when needed. His future family simply needs to be willing to guide him rather than assume a few normal adjustment behaviors mean he isn't a good fit. Like many young dogs, Oates is still polishing up his house-training skills. He occasionally has accidents in his kennel, especially if he's expected to hold it longer than he's able. We believe a consistent routine and the calmer environment of a forever home will help him succeed quickly. One of Oates' favorite things in the world is spending time with his people. Whether that's joining you for walks, tagging along on adventures, or simply being included in daily life, Oates wants to be part of the family. Not just a dog who lives in the home, but a true member of it. After waiting month after month while others were chosen, Oates deserves a family that sees him for the incredible dog he is. His future adopters must understand that he may need a little patience and grace as he adjusts to a new environment, but we have no doubt the reward will be worth it. This handsome fellow is Jackson! Jackson is an approximately 5 year old male Labrador mix and weighs around 70 lbs. He was rescued from a small rural shelter in Oklahoma. Jackson is so sweet and affectionate (maybe a little too affectionate for small children). He is a strong boy. He is such a goofy boy and just wants to love you! His best life would be with an active individual or family to help him burn energy and get his playfulness out, then he is a mellow boy ready to just relax and be by your side. Adequate exercise is essential for his success. He would be happy to run, walk or hike with you. Jackson plays with an assortment of dogs in doggy daycare, but a playful dog close to his size would be ideal. He loves to play with other dogs, but he is also very people orientated, so in the right situation (active home, with plenty of exercise), he would be fine as an only dog. He is crate-trained, keeps a clean kennel in boarding, and would do best with an Easy Walker type harness and leash. He rides very well in the car. This very good girl is Kate. Kate is an approximately 3 year old female mixed breed best guess is a Retriever mix of some sort. She weighs around 80 lbs. She was rescued from being chained under an old truck and had just given birth on the cold ground. She's a trooper and holds no grudges. She is the sweetest thing. Although she is on the bigger side she is very gentle. Great with kids, other dogs and cats. The perfect trifecta. She is a bit of an attention seeker and would love to be a lap dog. She currently sleeps with her foster mom and is a big snuggler. Kate needs a secure stockade fenced backyard. She would love another playful dog in the home, but given plenty of attention and exercise she could be adopted as an only dog. This sweet girl is Pumpkin! Pumpkin is an approximately 3 year old female Labrador / Shepherd mix who only weighs 37 lbs. She was rescued after giving birth in downtown Oklahoma City under a shed. Her puppies have found homes and now it's Pumpkin's turn! Pumpkin is very friendly and affectionate! She would love a home where she is included in activities and gets lots of love and attention. This stunner is Raven! Raven is an approximately 3-year old female Border Collie/Labrador mix and weighs around 50 lbs. She was rescued from a local shelter. Raven is very playful, high-energy dog, who will need an active individual or family to give her plenty of exercise, physically and mentally. She is super smart and catches on to things quickly! She has even been through puppy training class, and we recommend continuing her training. Raven is unsure of people in public situations and will bark at strangers. Once she is in a home and comfortable, her affectionate and playful side comes out. She will make someone a very loyal and fun dog! She plays in group with an assortment of dogs.
