Story
Pongo / Neutered Male / 6 Months / Lab mix? / Dogs: Yes / Cats: Yes / Kids: 13+ / Location: East Garafraxa Meet Pongo (again!) This handsome boy was adopted earlier this year but sadly returned just a month later. Pongo is a truly special pup who needs an equally special home to match. At just 6 months old and 45 lbs, Pongo is full of energy, smarts, and heart. While we were told he might be a Border Collie/Lab mix, we aren’t entirely sure, what we do know is that he won’t get too much bigger and that he’s 100% adorable. Pongo can be nervous in new situations or around unfamiliar people, but he’s been working so hard to overcome this. He even spent several weeks with our friends at stylek9dogtraining, where he learned amazing skills that will set him up for success. His future family will continue his journey with a few follow up classes, already covered in his adoption fee, because consistency is key for this sensitive boy. What makes Pongo amazing: Walks beautifully on leash, calmly and politely (even sitting at stops!) Crate trained & fully housebroken Snuggle king who always wants to be near his people Playful, smart, and food motivated, he learns fast! Loves doggy friends, is good with cats, and would thrive with or without another dog in the home Because of his nervous nature, Pongo would do best with older, dog savvy kids. A yard to run, play, and chase squirrels would be a dream for him. To help him settle in, Pongo will even come with his special “place bed” included in his adoption fee, we want to give him every chance to succeed. Pongo is sweet, loving, and so ready for a family who will understand his past and nurture his bright future. Could that be you? https://forms.gle/gMSrMCVFqQ3fb5gN8

Story
Hi, my name’s Rowan!I’m a handsome boy who gets startled easily, maybe because my past wasn`t the kindest. I`m slowly learning to trust again, though, and I’ve made a lot of great progress since coming to GHS: even when scared, I’ll still cautiously approach and nudge for gentle pets. After I arrived here, it took weeks before I was comfortable going for walks! I’ve come a long way. I’m more nervous around men but will even warm up pretty quickly if they sit calmly and ignore me. With someone patient who understands that positivity and gentle socialization can help heal old wounds, I will blossom into your new best friend.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers may be ok if the home is generally on the calmer side.OTHER DOGS: Yes! I would appreciate a dog friend to play and hang out with.CATS: Yes, with a cat confident around big dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best in a home that has experience with large and timid dogs.FENCED-IN YARD: Required, given I can get quite nervous on leash walks.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any with a fenced yard.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.MEDICATIONS: Yes, I take daily medication orally to help with my stress. If you think I would make a good match for your home, please click the `Adopt Me` button to apply!

Story
Hello, I’m Hawthorn!I’m a sweet boy, even though life’s been a bit rocky and trust doesn’t come easy for me. I arrived at GHS very scared, nervous, and quick to panic, but my friends here at GHS have helped me learn I don’t need to be afraid of humans anymore—I’m starting to show my social side by asking for pets and even starting to jump up to say hello to people I like! I’m more nervous around men and warm up to females much quicker. I’m looking for a family who is gentle, understanding, and patient so I can continue to build my confidence and feel safe for life.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers may be ok if the home is generally on the calmer side.OTHER DOGS: Yes! I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me. The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet. Fosters will offer the routine, structure and stability needed to help get animals ready for their new family. Learn more & apply at guelphhumane.ca/the-paisley-project

Story
Hi, my name is Faith! ❤️🐾A senior dog with a heart full of love. Every day, I greet everyone with a wagging tail and bright eyes, hoping to share my joy. I adore cuddles, quiet naps and a big window to be able to look out and watch the world. I enjoy leisurely walks. Friends here say I'm a perfect companion because I'm so friendly and sweet. If you're looking for a loyal friend to share your days with, I'm your girl! Let's make wonderful memories together. I want to let you know that I am deaf, and know many hand signals, so a fenced yard would be very beneficial for my safety. Oh, I also need to be the only 4-legged family member as I prefer all the love. Why not come by and meet me? I'm sure we'll be the best of friends! If you are interested in me, please drop by for a visit and a staff member will be happy to have you meet me. You can also send through an email for more information orangeville@ontariospca.ca and include your phone number so we can better contact you! I can't wait to go home with you.-Faith❤️ Primary Color: Black Weight: 32.2 Age: 10yrs 4mths 3wks

Story
Hi everybody..My name is Bruno and I`m a sensitive, shy guy. I am very affectionate and love to be leaned up against my person. I`m a pretty big guy, weighing in at about 70lbs but that doesn`t stop my from being afraid of my own shadow! I would like a nice quiet family, maybe one with a confident dog that can help me feel safe. Once I am comfortable, I love to be outside with my friends. I love to run around and play, I feel so happy out in the sun. If you`re looking for a sweet boy to join your family, then I`m your guy. Please call my shelter friends at 519-685-1330 to learn more about me!

Story
Ranger is vocal and loves to tell you about his day and then tell you again! He loves to be pet and looks at a gate as a challenge, not a barrier. He can be stubborn and defiant, so a strong Alpha owner is needed or he will take control. He is a powerful puller on leash, so a harness is best. He likes car rides and is crate trained. He is looking for a forever home that has some experience with the food motivated lab and stubborn mastiff. Due to his size and strength, older children are best. He has a great smile, and will show all his teeth when he is happy or nervous. He is up to date with his vaccines, flea and tick treated, microchipped, Heartworm negative and is neutered. His adoption fee is $500. You must be 21 years old to adopt and provide vet and personal references. An application to adopt him can be found on our website www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com. Click on Adopt, then Dogs for Adoption and scroll to the bottom of the page. All applications are reviewed, and if we feel you might be a good fit for him, you will be contacted to arrange a home visit as well as for permission to speak with your vet. Repeated phone calls and emails with not advance your application. We are a volunteer, foster based rescue and there is no opportunity to meet him before an application has been approved. We thankyou for respecting these guidelines.
