Hello! My name is Franny!I am a young gal looking for a family that has the time and patience for a puppy. I am sweet and affectionate. I am learning lots of cool manners in my foster home. My family should be prepared to work with me through all basic puppy things like teething, chewing, mouthing, house-training, and not settling down when I'm excited, to name a few! If you submit an application for me, please begin looking into a positive trainer you would like to take me to for puppy socialization classes. My GHS friends are requiring that I be signed up for puppy training classes before adoption. I am very excited to go to school, make new puppy friends, and learn lots of cool skills with my humans.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: YesOTHER DOGS: YesCATS: Potentially, only for cats who have been around dogs before and are confident with dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Potentially, if you have strong dog knowledge.FENCED-IN YARD: Not required, but having a safe space to run is highly recommended given I am still uncertain in some new environmentsHOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Yes, while I'm young.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-highHOUSE-TRAINED: So far so good. Story
MORE PHOTOS/VIDEOS: https://www.facebook.com/TLCRR https://www.instagram.com/taffyslegacycaninerescue taffyslegacy.com/selma Selma was pulled from a list of dogs who were going to be euthanized. We know she is a tough case based on how fearful she is, however we had the room to give her a chance and so far, she’s exceeded all of our expectations. We hope that with training and time we can help her find balance in her scared little brain and see that people really aren’t so bad. First impressions: Strangers: Extremely timid with people, we pulled this girl knowing full and well that she will take a couple months of training and rehabilitation to become adoptable. At present she is very fearful, shies away and will not approach new people she does not know. Dogs: Loves ALL dogs. Selma is very dog social and will match the play style of her friends. She is currently living in our Kennel, where she gets to go out to Doggie Daycare multiple times a week to spend time with many of her friends. When the play gets too intense, she becomes submissive and rolls on her back, so she makes the perfect playmate for many dogs. Cats: Unsure with cats, we will test her once she settles in. She is however quite prey driven towards the resident chickens, noteworthy, but this does not necessarily mean she couldn't live with cats. Kids: Though we have not tested her with children we feel that based on her timid-ness she'd do best in an adult only home with another canine companion who is confident to show her the ropes, this could change after spending some time in care. Crate: Selma is clean in her kennel and goes in and although the first few days she was apprehensive going out, she has no hesitation going back in, she seems to like her kennel! Leash: Clearly has minimal or no leash experience and acts semi-feral on leash. She panics, tries to get away and gator rolls when leashed. This is currently being worked on. Car Skills: Thus far, she has shown to be quiet in her crate. Energy Level: Medium to high energy, runs like the wind outside, but settles quickly in her kennel. Confidence: Very unsure, will need consistent training and positive reinforcement to build her up. Affection: With the people she trusts she will lean into you and then flop over for belly rubs, but does take time to build this trust. Resources: Has not shown any issues with people or other dogs thus far. Training: very food motivated, takes food a little rough, but is eager to train. Behavioural: Even though Selma was the equivalent of semi-feral when leashed at the shelter, she showed no indication of wanting to bite. Given her level of fear, this was reason enough to give her a chance. Behaviourally, she will need work on building confidence and counterconditioning her aversion to the leash (which admittedly has already improved leaps and bounds). Best traits: absolutely adorable, great with all dogs, clean in her kennel, food motivated and eager to train. Needs improvement: Positive introductions to the leash and building confidence with humans. Selma is in perfect health! She currently has her spay appointment scheduled for the end of Nov 2023, and has one more booster shot left to be completed. Otherwise, she is up to date on her vetting. **She has not yet been heartworm tested** ADOPTION PROCESS: taffyslegacy.com/adoption-process

MORE PHOTOS: https://www.facebook.com/TLCRR https://www.instagram.com/taffyslegacycaninerescue https://www.taffyslegacy.com/darius Darius is one of the Dover Dozen that were picked up by Hillside Kennels Animal Control. He was found abandoned with a number of his siblings, some of which are still available through Hillside! We are still learning more about Darius, this is what we know so far. Darius is currently being fostered in Delhi, ON. First impressions: Strangers: Friendly, outgoing, and likes to jump up. Dogs: Friendly, respectful, submissive, and wiggly. Cats: Curious but respectful. Kids: Not completely tested, but he briefly met a 1.5 year old and was not phased by her. Crate: When he gets worked up, he is not able to self soothe yet. The first two nights were pretty rough, but on night 3, he slept through the night and has been much quieter in his crate. Darius has been clean in his crate. Leash: He is not a big puller thus far. He does wander all over the place, so he will need a bit of direction/guidance. Resources: Limited exposure has shown any issues with people or other dogs thus far. Confidence: He approaches new environments and situations in a bit of a calm, submissive state, but isn't overly fearful. Energy Level: Darius is an older puppy who, for his age, is actually quite low energy. We consider him to be medium energy at this time because he doesn't know how to self soothe and relax. Affection: He is extremely affectionate and would actually much prefer snuggles to food. Car Skills: We have not yet had an opportunity to assess this. Health: Darius is in good health, neutered, up to date on getting and ready to find a home of his own. Behavioural: We do not see any concerning behaviour from him. His temperament is beautiful and we'd consider him that of a doofus lab personality. Training: Training has been slow thus far as he really takes very little interest in food. He sticks close by his people, loves affection as a reward, but we will work on building food drive over the coming weeks. Best traits: affectionate, playful, silly, and adorable. Needs improvement: Discouraging jumping, build engagement for training, settling, and leash skills. ADOPTION PROCESS: http://taffyslegacy.com/adoption-process

FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome Tripp into the Fetch + Releash family April 14th (subject to change). In order for Tripp to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him home on his arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tripp / Male / 8 months / 41 pounds / Lab Mix / Great Family Dog / Fun Loving Pup / Medium-High Puppy Energy / from Tennessee Meet Tripp, your typical fun-loving lab pup, surrendered like so many others, yet finding safety in the care of our partner. This unwanted black pup has blossomed into a friendly, eager-to-please companion, ready for any adventure life throws his way. Already displaying promising traits, Tripp is great in the car and walks well on leash. He's crate trained, although patience is needed with house training as he transitions to indoor life, a new concept for him. But true to his breed, Tripp is both lovable and loyal, brimming with untapped potential. Currently, he shares a kennel with another dog, showcasing his sociable nature. Whether as a solo companion or alongside another furry friend, Tripp is adaptable and ready to bring joy to any household. However, if he becomes a solo dog, continued socialization is key, ensuring he maintains his love for both humans and fellow canines. His new family must be committed to his ongoing training, helping him adjust to his new life in Canada. Play-based training will not only reinforce commands but also strengthen the bond between Tripp and his new family. With his sweet and loveable temperament, he'll thrive in a home with dog-savvy children, although he's still learning boundaries like refraining from jumping up when greeting. While not fully tested with cats, Tripp's exposure to them suggests possible compatibility. He's curious and wants to play with them, so he would require supervision and set boundaries. A dog savvy cat would be best as there would be an adjustment period. As he continues to grow, he'll adapt to any type of home, provided he receives ample opportunities for walks and bathroom breaks throughout the day. You should expect to provide Tripp with at least two 30 minute walks per day as he is a growing pup with energy to burn. Ensuring his physical and mental needs are met will aid in keeping a curious pup out of mischief. Tripp is more than just a dog; he's a delightful companion waiting to steal the hearts of those who open their home to him. With his infectious energy and unwavering loyalty, Tripp promises to be the perfect addition to any loving family, ready to embark on countless adventures together. As a condition of the adoption contract, Tripp’s new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class at their own cost (proof required). If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Tripp's adoption fee is $900. Story
Hammy / Male / 1.5 years old / 53 pounds / Lab Mix / Good with Dogs with Proper Introductions / Good with Cats / Good with Kids Aged 10+ / From Tennessee / Fostered in Toronto Follow Hammy’s adventures on Instagram @twoqueersandafosterdog Meet Hammy! Poor Hammy was surrendered to the pound in Tennessee when his owner could no longer care for him. He has since made the journey to Toronto to find his forever home. Hammy is described by his fosters as sweet, gentle, goofy, and silly. He loves going for walks, sniffing, playing with his stuffies, shredding paper (and toys!), playing fetch, chewing bully sticks, snuggling, and naps. There is not much this happy-go-lucky guy does not like! He currently lives with two cats and enjoys trying to get them to play with him. After all this, he likes to sprawl out in bed with his fosters and sleep quietly through the night. Hammy is very sweet and affectionate with the people he knows. He loves to brush up on you for pets and will follow you around waiting for your attention. He is generally very curious of new people and eager to please. He appreciates a slow approach and does not like when anyone reaches over his head for pets so it is important to advocate for him and protect his space. Hammy has met kids over 10 years old and done well with them. He would do well with older, respectful, dog savvy children who can respect his boundaries. He can get overstimulated and may jump up. He seems interested in kids when out on walks and would likely be gentle and kind to children. Hammy gets three 30 minute walks a day, plus some pee breaks. He also gets indoor enrichment like puzzle toys and bully sticks. Hammy can pull on leash when he gets excited but is working with his foster on loose leash walking. He seems comfortable outside and doesn’t react too much to anything he comes across (except the odd very loud noise). He can sometimes be overeager to meet new people or dogs but his fosters are working on this and practicing “engage/disengage”. Hammy is very good in the house. He is not crated and has been left for up to 2 hours on his own and is slowly increasing that time. He can take a bit to settle but will eventually lay down and rest while his fosters are out. He is has tried to chew things he shouldn’t when he is in a playful mood but is easily redirected. He likes to nap during the day and sleeps through the night in bed with his fosters. Hammy is very dog social and loved playing with other dogs on the farm in Tennessee. Since coming into foster care he has not interacted with any dogs yet. When he sees other dogs on leash he tends to jump up and pull towards them. He clearly wants to engage but needs to learn proper manners and a calmer approach. He would do great in a home with other dogs who are respectful of his boundaries. He would require proper introductions before meeting any new dogs. He currently lives with two cats and is curious and playful with them but mostly leaves them alone. Hammy is working on basic obedience but his current training mostly focuses on loose leash walking and getting his attention while out on walks. He is working on polite greetings and leash walking. Hammy is potty trained. Hammy’s perfect forever family would be one that is patient and has time to focus on his training. He needs a family that can provide lots of walks, adventures, and hikes, as well as enrichment. He would do best in a family that is knowledgeable about canine body language. He would do best in a home with a yard where he can get some zoomies out and would prefer to be in a quieter area rather than right downtown. Hammy is a total sweetie and a joy to be around. He is silly and goofy and has a heart of gold. He is eager to please and just wants love. His future family will be very lucky to get him. Hammy has undergone treatment for heartworm. He does not require much in the way of special care but he will need to stay on a heartworm prevention until he has had two negative heartworm tests at least six months apart. Fetch + Releash will cover the cost of the heartworm prevention for the first six months as well as the follow up heartworm test(s), provided they are done at our partner vet clinic. The adoptive family will then be responsible for covering the cost of the next six months of the heartworm prevention medicine. If you’re interested in adopting Hammy, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Hammy’s adoption fee is $850. Story
Lola / F / 4Y / 60lbs / Lab Mix / Good with Dogs / Untested with Children / Untested with Cats / From Tennessee / Fostered in Toronto Meet Lola! Lola came from Tennessee where she was found as a stray. She was found with another dog who was believed to be from the same home. Lola's foster describes her as a big, cuddly bear. She is a fairly quiet and laid-back girl. She prefers hanging with her person to playing with toys. When relaxing, Lola likes to be close to her person by resting her bum on them. It’s not surprising that Lola has wonderful human social skills. She is easygoing and calm with people she knows, as well as strangers. Lola has not met any children while in our care. Based on her personality, her foster believed that she would likely do well with respectful children old enough to understand and practice dog etiquette. While she could do well in any setting, she is a bit cautious of the sights, sounds, and smells of downtown. Her ideal setting would be in a quieter area. Lola’s ideal family would be one that is lowkey and enjoys a more relaxed lifestyle. She would love for her family to be home often so they can enjoy lots of couch cuddles. Lola is social and friendly with other dogs she meets. With a proper meet and greet, she could go to a home with other dogs. She has shown some timidness towards larger dogs until she gets to know them and warms up to them. She has not been tested with cats. She is on the lower end of medium energy. Lola currently enjoys two to three 40-minute walks. She walks very well and with a loose leash. In addition to walks, all she asks for is lots of attention from her humans. After a nice long walk, Lola is left alone for 5-6 hours. She settles quickly and does not show signs of separation anxiety. She is crated at night or when left alone. She does well on both occasions, sleeping in her crate until her foster's return. Lola has been working with her foster on obedience training and is doing really well. She has learned to sit, down, off and up. Her foster notes her as intelligent and food-motivated, so she will be a quick learner. She is potty trained but may have some accidents with a transition. She seems to be improving daily and would benefit from continued support. Lola is great in the car but could benefit from more walks/a diet as she is a little overweight. Prior to coming into care, Lola tested positive for Ehrlichia which is a tick-borne infection and is not contagious. A CBC was performed to see if there is an active infection. Lola's CBC came back indicating that there is no active infections. It is recommended that Ehrlichia positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor and that pre-op blood work including a CBC test and platelet count be performed before any surgeries or dental extractions. She has some scarring on the muzzle and areas of alopecia around the neck with thickened skin (from a previous injury). A toe on her left hind foot has flexor tendon damage so it sticks upwards. If you’re interested in adopting Lola please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Lola’s adoption fee is $850. To learn more about our adoption fees and process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.
