Story
Pongo / Neutered Male / 6 Months / Lab mix? / Dogs: Yes / Cats: Yes / Kids: 13+ / Location: East Garafraxa Meet Pongo (again!) This handsome boy was adopted earlier this year but sadly returned just a month later. Pongo is a truly special pup who needs an equally special home to match. At just 6 months old and 45 lbs, Pongo is full of energy, smarts, and heart. While we were told he might be a Border Collie/Lab mix, we aren’t entirely sure, what we do know is that he won’t get too much bigger and that he’s 100% adorable. Pongo can be nervous in new situations or around unfamiliar people, but he’s been working so hard to overcome this. He even spent several weeks with our friends at stylek9dogtraining, where he learned amazing skills that will set him up for success. His future family will continue his journey with a few follow up classes, already covered in his adoption fee, because consistency is key for this sensitive boy. What makes Pongo amazing: Walks beautifully on leash, calmly and politely (even sitting at stops!) Crate trained & fully housebroken Snuggle king who always wants to be near his people Playful, smart, and food motivated, he learns fast! Loves doggy friends, is good with cats, and would thrive with or without another dog in the home Because of his nervous nature, Pongo would do best with older, dog savvy kids. A yard to run, play, and chase squirrels would be a dream for him. To help him settle in, Pongo will even come with his special “place bed” included in his adoption fee, we want to give him every chance to succeed. Pongo is sweet, loving, and so ready for a family who will understand his past and nurture his bright future. Could that be you? https://forms.gle/gMSrMCVFqQ3fb5gN8

Story
A soft-hearted sweetheart bursting with life, joy, and love, Honey is the kind of dog who will quietly steal your heart and never give it back. This three and half year-old lab cross' happy spirit shines through in everything she does, from her enthusiastic sniff-filled adventures to the way she lights up around her favourite people. In the home, Honey is an absolute dream. She’s calm, affectionate, beautifully behaved, and a total crate superstar. She settles easily, loves being near her people, and has that comforting, gentle presence that makes a house feel more like home. Out in the world, Honey’s happiest place is a quiet park with plenty of room to roam, sniff, and explore at her own pace. Give her open space, a peaceful trail, or a calm suburban stroll, and you’ll see her relaxed, engaged, and happily trotting alongside you with her curious nose to the ground. Watching Honey enjoy the simple things in life like soft grass, fresh air, and a good sniffing route is pure happiness. Honey is a sensitive girl, and busy streets full of noise, traffic, bikes, and close-up dogs can feel overstimulating for her. Because of this, she’s looking for a patient, dog-savvy adopter who lives in a quieter suburban or country setting and can help her manage her leash reactivity. The beautiful thing? Through it all, her love for people never wavers. Her temperament with humans is truly exceptional as she is sweet, trusting, affectionate, and full of heart. Honey doesn’t need a perfect home, but she does need one where close encounters with the canine kind will be minimal. In return, Honey promises unwavering loyalty, joyful adventures, endless cuddles, and the kind of love that feels extra special because it’s been earned. Story
Meet Baxter! (case # 12120) Baxter is a lovable 5-year-old yellow Lab with a big heart, an even bigger personality, and a tail that never seems to stop wagging. After arriving at the shelter as an unclaimed stray, Baxter quickly won over staff with his friendly nature, goofy charm, and eagerness to connect with everyone he meets. This handsome boy thrives on attention and is happiest when he’s by your side, whether heading out for an adventure or soaking up affection from his favorite people. Baxter is incredibly food motivated, gentle when taking treats, and always ready to learn — making him a great candidate for continued training and bonding with his future family. Baxter can get a little overexcited at times and tends to wear his emotions on his sleeve. He’s vocal in the kennel environment and can become anxious or “amped up” when overstimulated, but with patience, structure, and positive reinforcement, he has all the potential to blossom into a confident and well-mannered companion. He’s also a strong boy on leash, so he’ll do best with someone committed to helping him continue his walking skills and channel his enthusiasm in positive ways. Although Baxter can show some barrier reactivity, when it comes to other dogs, he has shown himself to be fairly indifferent, calmly ignoring another dog during a walk. Continued socialization will help him feel more comfortable and confident in new environments and around canine companions. Despite the changes and uncertainty he’s faced, Baxter remains sweet, social, and full of love to give. He’s looking for someone who will see past his anxious moments and recognize the loyal, affectionate companion waiting underneath. With guidance, consistency, and a cozy place to call home, Baxter is ready to become someone’s very best friend. Baxter recently tested positive for Lyme disease and is currently undergoing additional testing to ensure he gets the best possible care. Lyme disease in dogs is transmitted by ticks and, when caught early, is often very manageable with treatment—many dogs continue to live happy, active lives with proper veterinary care. His neuter is scheduled for May 28th and will be ready for his forever home after his recovery. 🖤ADOPT PANDORA🖤 F | 7Y | 23 KG | Mixed breed | Spayed | UTD on shots | Housebroken | Crate Trained | Good with dogs | Cat tested | Not kid tested | Fostered in London A gift from the Gods themselves. The jewel that lights up every room she is in. Our Pandora will open your world up with newfound joy, adventure and tons of cuddles! You know what they say, girls just wanna have fun and Pandora is no exception! So take her on walks or show her some cool tricks, she is here for a good time! She may seem a little reserved when you first meet her, but after some time, she can come out of her shell and make new furry and human friends! Her sweet curiousity leads her to want to make doggie friends, and with the right support and introductions, she can develop great canine companions. With new humans, Pandora would love it if you introduced her to your friends so she can warm up to them and make them her friends too! Noises can be a bit scary for Pandora, so it is something to be mindful of as you guys work together to help her adjust to her new life. She is also a flight risk within the first couple of weeks, meaning even in a fully enclosed yard and in the house - it's important to keep that leash on until she's fully decompressed and settled in. As with any dog, Pandora would greatly benefit from proper structure, boundary setting, and lots of love and patience. She is an absolute gem and is looking for the right family to help her sparkle to the max!

Story
Annie / Female / 1.5 Years / 33 lbs / Lab mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Kids / Good with Cats / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto Follow Annie’s journey on Instagram @rescue.ranger.to Annie has had a bit of a rough start to life. Found as a tiny pup suffering from malnutrition, parasites, and a coatimundi bite (Annie learned the adage of "never pick a fight with a coati" the hard way), she's since been rescued by caring people and given both food and medical care. Now, this sweet, loving, and above all, cuddly girl is searching for a forever home. When you first meet Annie, the first thing you'll notice is that she's a shy dog. She doesn't come bounding up to play, and she doesn't view everyone as a friend she just hasn't met yet. You have to spend time with her, earn her trust, and then you'll find that this girl is the sweetest little love pup you ever did see. Annie's three favorite things are snuggling, napping on someone's lap, and belly rubs, in that order. She'll happily spend all day snuggling on the couch—it's her happy place. Annie is always in the mood for couch cuddles and a long nap in her humans' arms. It'll take some work, but once you're in, she'll stick to you like glue. Just as with people, new dogs need to be introduced slowly and calmly, letting Annie get used to their presence at her own pace. Her best possible canine companion would be an older, confident dog that understands her needs and doesn't rush her to play. Similarly, young children will need to give Annie her space until she's ready to interact. Cats are likely a fine fit for her somewhat skittish personality. Although she'd prefer to spend all day as a couch potato, Annie still needs her exercise just like everyone else. The good news is she's an excellent walker; she doesn't pull on the leash, heels when asked, and doesn't react to passing people or other dogs. She's afraid of loud noises and busy streets, so definitely take her to a quiet park or neighborhood for her to get her steps in. Speaking of steps, Annie often walks with a bit of a limp due to an injury from her puppy days that didn't heal properly. She has trouble going up stairs and keeping her footing on slick floors like tiles or hardwood. She'd do best with carpeted floors and either a single-floor home or an apartment with an elevator. Annie is potty and crate trained, and while she's known to steal the odd sock, she doesn't exhibit any destructive behaviors when she's left alone for a few hours. She doesn't have a lot of obedience training because she's a bit nervous outdoors, but she's definitely food motivated, so a patient teacher will probably have some success teaching her in a quiet area. What Annie mostly needs is a calm, quiet home with a patient guardian to help build up her confidence. Once she's settled in, she'll bloom into the most loving dog anyone could ever ask for. If you’re interested in adopting Annie, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Annie’s adoption fee is $850.
