Story
Pongo / Neutered Male / 6 Months / Lab mix? / Dogs: Yes / Cats: Yes / Kids: 13+ / Location: East Garafraxa Meet Pongo (again!) This handsome boy was adopted earlier this year but sadly returned just a month later. Pongo is a truly special pup who needs an equally special home to match. At just 6 months old and 45 lbs, Pongo is full of energy, smarts, and heart. While we were told he might be a Border Collie/Lab mix, we aren’t entirely sure, what we do know is that he won’t get too much bigger and that he’s 100% adorable. Pongo can be nervous in new situations or around unfamiliar people, but he’s been working so hard to overcome this. He even spent several weeks with our friends at stylek9dogtraining, where he learned amazing skills that will set him up for success. His future family will continue his journey with a few follow up classes, already covered in his adoption fee, because consistency is key for this sensitive boy. What makes Pongo amazing: Walks beautifully on leash, calmly and politely (even sitting at stops!) Crate trained & fully housebroken Snuggle king who always wants to be near his people Playful, smart, and food motivated, he learns fast! Loves doggy friends, is good with cats, and would thrive with or without another dog in the home Because of his nervous nature, Pongo would do best with older, dog savvy kids. A yard to run, play, and chase squirrels would be a dream for him. To help him settle in, Pongo will even come with his special “place bed” included in his adoption fee, we want to give him every chance to succeed. Pongo is sweet, loving, and so ready for a family who will understand his past and nurture his bright future. Could that be you? https://forms.gle/gMSrMCVFqQ3fb5gN8

Story
Hello! My name is Mikka!I`m a sweet and gentle girl who can be skittish at times. I take a little bit of time to warm up to new people. I enjoy playing with toys and would love a home where I will get lots play time and outdoor adventures! I might chew things in the house if I`m bored and have pent up energy. No need to worry though, if you provide me with good physical and mental stimulation, I`m the best girl! I am very snuggly and want to make sure my humans enjoy doggy snuggles!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers should be fine. No young children given I can be timid.OTHER DOGS: Yes, with a well-matched dog. I enjoy chasing and running but may not enjoy rough and tumble puppy energy.CATS: No, given my prey drive.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Yes, if you have some experience with dogs and recognizing nervous body language.FENCED-IN YARD: Not necessarily.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Given I can be skittish, busy apartment buildings or those where I’d need to take an elevator wouldn’t be ideal.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium. HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the “Adopt Me” button to apply!

Story
Bridgette is a 3-year-old, medium-sized mixed breed (possibly a Lab cross) with a sweet soul and an easygoing nature. She came to the shelter as an unclaimed stray, but it’s clear she’s ready to leave her past behind and start a new chapter with a loving family. This lovely girl is well-mannered in her kennel, truly enjoys human company, and greets everyone she meets with enthusiasm and affection. Bridgette has also enjoyed a playful romp with a male dog and may do well in a home with another friendly canine companion. Overall, she seems to be a fairly even-keeled, well-tempered dog who could fit nicely into many different home environments. Because her history is largely unknown, especially around young children, a home with older kids or adults may be the best match for her. Bridgette appears to have had a litter in the past, and now it’s her turn to be doted on and cared for. Bridgette would benefit from obedience classes to help her build new skills and polish her manners. She’s very food-motivated, making positive reinforcement training a great and fun way for her to learn. She would love daily neighborhood walks or weekend hikes—especially fitting, since she was found near the beautiful Albion Falls! If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate, and adaptable companion, Bridgette might just be your perfect match. She’s patiently waiting to find a forever family to share her happy, balanced spirit with for the rest of her life. Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Bridgette has an appointment to be spayed on January 8th. She will be ready for her forever home after she has recovered from this surgery. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

Story
At just 4 months old, Romeo is a handsome young pup with so much potential waiting to bloom! This sweet boy came to us as an unclaimed stray, and while we don’t know much about his early life, we’re excited to help him find the loving home he deserves. Romeo is currently a fairly neutral, easygoing puppy. He’s quiet in his kennel, enjoys his meals (very much!), and hasn’t shown the typical over-the-top puppy zoomies just yet. We suspect that once he settles into a home environment and has time to decompress, his playful and affectionate personality will truly come to life. Let’s Talk About Food Romeo has a great appetite and is very enthusiastic about food. We’ve seen some early signs of possible food and toy resource insecurity, which is not uncommon for puppies who have experienced uncertainty. The good news? At this young age, these behaviors can absolutely be reshaped with the right guidance and consistency. His new family will need to: Incorporate hand feeding and food-based training games Practice “trade up” exercises (trading low-value items for high-value rewards) Use meals as opportunities for training and patience-building Reinforce that good things happen when people (and other pets) are near his food, toys, and treats These exercises should become part of everyday life—not just feeding time—to help Romeo learn that resources are safe and plentiful. With consistency from day one, we are confident he can grow into a secure and well-mannered companion. Home Life & Training Romeo will need: Potty training Crate training (highly recommended, as he may be tempted to counter or garbage surf) Immediate enrollment in obedience classes to help him build strong manners and confidence He is expected to be a large dog when fully grown, making early training and structure especially important. We believe Romeo may thrive in a home with a confident, well-adjusted dog companion who can help show him the ropes. Due to his strong interest in food, homes with very small children (who may have snacks within reach) may not be the best fit. The Bottom Line Romeo is a young pup with a blank slate and so much promise. With patience, structure, and positive reinforcement, he has all the makings of a loyal, loving, and well-mannered big boy. He just needs a family committed to guiding him as he learns that the world is safe, food is plentiful, and he never has to worry again. If you’re ready to invest in a smart, food-motivated pup who will grow into an incredible companion, Romeo is ready to meet you! Duke is a lovely senior dog well over 10 years old. He only knew his dad who he lived with since he was a puppy and now his dad is too sick to look after him. 🖤ADOPT PANDORA🖤 F | 6Y | 23 KG | Mixed breed | Spayed | UTD on shots | Housebroken | Crate Trained | Good with dogs | Cat tested | Not kid tested | Fostered in London A gift from the Gods themselves. The jewel that lights up every room she is in. Our Pandora will open your world up with newfound joy, adventure and tons of cuddles! You know what they say, girls just wanna have fun and Pandora is no exception! So take her on walks or show her some cool tricks, she is here for a good time! She may seem a little reserved when you first meet her, but after some time, she can come out of her shell and make new furry and human friends! Her sweet curiousity leads her to want to make doggie friends, and with the right support and introductions, she can develop great canine companions. With new humans, Pandora would love it if you introduced her to your friends so she can warm up to them and make them her friends too! Noises can be a bit scary for Pandora, so it is something to be mindful of as you guys work together to help her adjust to her new life. She is also a flight risk within the first couple of weeks, meaning even in a fully enclosed yard and in the house - it's important to keep that leash on until she's fully decompressed and settled in. As with any dog, Pandora would greatly benefit from proper structure, boundary setting, and lots of love and patience. She is an absolute gem and is looking for the right family to help her sparkle to the max!
