Story
Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet. Dune is a 3 year old lab mix that weighs 60 pounds and is fully housebroken. He was surrendered to the shelter as his owner was moving into an apartment that would only allow small dogs. He was acquired as a young puppy and resided alongside of several small dogs. Dune loves food puzzles, will fetch for hours if allowed, loves toys, and has a very joyful spirit. He is 100% housebroken and has never had an accident in his kennel. is inquisitive, quirky, and darling. Here is what our one of our dog walkers has to say about Dune:Dune is a youngish (but very mature) pupper. Dogs, no matter their upbringing/lineage or from Craigslist, a backyard breeder or a shelter, will seem to be fairly confident critters, or not as confident. Dune is of the latter, so he’s my take to the solitude of the woods versus the tourist hot spots kind of dog. The wonderful thing about Dune is, he looks to you for guidance. He doesn’t want to be off leash. He doesn’t want freedom and to make his own choices…..he wants you to guide him and in return, he gives back 120% all to you.Dune is so fun to hike with because he will wait for you to navigate that rocky section of trail. He’ll stand with you and enjoy the rush of a swollen creek and he’ll look to you when something uncertain comes his way. We hit the North Chick a lot, and encounter many a dudes carrying kayaks heading to the put in. We simply scoot off the trail and watch folks go by. He doesn’t want to meet other dogs, nor does he really want to meet other people when he’s out with his person…..which is ok. Not all dogs do, and we shouldn’t force them to greet everyone. As hard as it is for me to say this, I’ve learned that I also don’t need to greet every dog I meet when I’m out and about. Most dogs would rather you not!!In conclusion, Dune is a fantastic pal who’s just a tad introverted. He’s not your dog park, bar/outside dining, walnut st bridge pup so if you are seeking an incredible and special bond with a pet, consider Dune.He loves small dogs but will require a meet and greet with dogs his size as he had no prior exposure to dogs larger than yorkies and chihuahuas. He would not be ideal for a home with cats as he will chase them. The adoption fee is $135 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter. We're open Wednesday - Sunday 12 - 5 p.m but doing adoptions and meet & greets by appointment only.  If you are seriously interested in adopting please fill our our online application here: https://bit.ly/3HN4Tqq Check out our website at https://www.petplacementcenter.com/    February 10, 2025, 8:52 am

Story
🐾 Meet Saucy Pawci! 🐾 This gorgeous girl is a 47-pound, midsize black Retriever mix who’s just a little over a year old — but she’s already shown incredible resilience and heart. Saucy Pawci was abandoned at a worksite along with two other dogs and was thankfully rescued by officers from the Humane Education Society. Despite her rough start, she’s been nothing but sweet and patient while in our care. It appears Saucy Pawci has already been a young mom once in her short life, and now it’s her turn to be cared for and loved. She can be a little standoffish at first, but once she knows you’re kind, she melts into affection and loves being doted on. She’s gentle during bath time, does well with other dogs (she came in with one who may have been her brother — now happily adopted!), and would truly thrive in a home with a secure fenced yard where she can feel safe and stretch her legs. Saucy Pawci will be ready to go home after her spay, and she can’t wait to start her new chapter — one filled with love, care, and a forever family who sees how special she is. 💕

Good with dogs,
Story
Destin is a 4-year-old big boi who enjoys snuggles, going for walks, and PLAYTIME! This over-sized puppy is nearly 90 lbs of muscle and love. He's described by some of his favorite volunteers as a huge dog who is simply excited about life. He loves to run zoomies in the play yards, and will never turn down a game of fetch. He's a great leash walker, as he's been training with our behavior team, especially when using a transitional lead (we can show you how to use it, too!). Staff and volunteers who work with Destin say he is such a good boy, and when he's not begging to go on walks, he really just wants to cuddle. He's young and energetic, and would be perfect for an active person who enjoys hiking or running, and can give Destin lots of mental and physical stimulation. Destin needs an adopter who is experienced with large breed dogs, and can handle his size and strength. It's hard not to love him though, when he shows you his soft side - his squishy face and big ol' paws are simply irresistible! He loves soft blankies and plushie toys, and is a total teddy bear at heart. Come meet this good boy today!
