Story

Leilani's story began with a level of cruelty no dog should ever experience. When she was just two weeks old, someone loaded her, her mother, and her siblings into a crate and attempted to set them on fire. Against all odds, Leilani survived. She was rescued, loved, and adopted into what we hoped would be her forever home. Unfortunately, through no fault of her own, Leilani is now looking for a new family. Despite everything she has been through, Leilani remains an incredibly loving and loyal dog. She forms deep bonds with her people and loves fiercely once she trusts you. She is also exceptionally smart and thrives when given opportunities to learn, problem-solve, and stay active. Leilani can be anxious in new environments and may need some time to adjust, but with patience and consistency, her sweet personality shines through. She would do best with a family that can provide both mental and physical stimulation and help her continue building confidence. Leilani does have some special considerations, including resource guarding around food and toys, and would do best in a home with submissive dogs and no young children. After spending her entire life overcoming challenges she never should have faced, Leilani deserves a family that will give her the stability, understanding, and lifelong commitment she has always deserved. Beneath her protective nature is a dog who simply wants to feel safe, secure, and loved. Currently in a foster home in Chattanooga, TN, and available for transport to a number of locations within the continental United States.
