Story
Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet. Dune is a 3 year old lab mix that weighs 60 pounds and is fully housebroken. He was surrendered to the shelter as his owner was moving into an apartment that would only allow small dogs. He was acquired as a young puppy and resided alongside of several small dogs. Dune loves food puzzles, will fetch for hours if allowed, loves toys, and has a very joyful spirit. He is 100% housebroken and has never had an accident in his kennel. is inquisitive, quirky, and darling. Here is what our one of our dog walkers has to say about Dune:Dune is a youngish (but very mature) pupper. Dogs, no matter their upbringing/lineage or from Craigslist, a backyard breeder or a shelter, will seem to be fairly confident critters, or not as confident. Dune is of the latter, so he’s my take to the solitude of the woods versus the tourist hot spots kind of dog. The wonderful thing about Dune is, he looks to you for guidance. He doesn’t want to be off leash. He doesn’t want freedom and to make his own choices…..he wants you to guide him and in return, he gives back 120% all to you.Dune is so fun to hike with because he will wait for you to navigate that rocky section of trail. He’ll stand with you and enjoy the rush of a swollen creek and he’ll look to you when something uncertain comes his way. We hit the North Chick a lot, and encounter many a dudes carrying kayaks heading to the put in. We simply scoot off the trail and watch folks go by. He doesn’t want to meet other dogs, nor does he really want to meet other people when he’s out with his person…..which is ok. Not all dogs do, and we shouldn’t force them to greet everyone. As hard as it is for me to say this, I’ve learned that I also don’t need to greet every dog I meet when I’m out and about. Most dogs would rather you not!!In conclusion, Dune is a fantastic pal who’s just a tad introverted. He’s not your dog park, bar/outside dining, walnut st bridge pup so if you are seeking an incredible and special bond with a pet, consider Dune.He loves small dogs but will require a meet and greet with dogs his size as he had no prior exposure to dogs larger than yorkies and chihuahuas. He would not be ideal for a home with cats as he will chase them. The adoption fee is $135 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter. We're open Wednesday - Sunday 12 - 5 p.m but doing adoptions and meet & greets by appointment only.  If you are seriously interested in adopting please fill our our online application here: https://bit.ly/3HN4Tqq Check out our website at https://www.petplacementcenter.com/    February 10, 2025, 8:52 am
