Story
Hello, I`m Bella! I`m a sweet, friendly, and gentle soul, who`s also a bit goofy and playful when the mood strikes. I`m quite independent, but I do love a good cuddle. I`m mellow and easy going, nothing much ruffles my fur. I`m also pretty smart, and I`ve got this housebroken thing down pat. Did I mention I love squeaky toys? They`re my absolute favorite! I promise to make you laugh with my funny antics and warm your heart with my affectionate nature. Why should you adopt me? Well, I think my playful spirit, loving heart, and joyful personality make me the perfect companion. I can`t wait to meet you and start our adventures together!

Story
Having to give away my previous animal which was very hard for me to do I kind of got lonely and wanted best friend animal. So a military family who was getting ready to relocate to Germany posted a ad in the Virginian-Pilot about free dog getting ready to move overseas not able to take dog so free dog best friend lonely met Bella and I instantly fell in love but now with my work schedule being chaotic and my wife just had a new baby we have to keep Bella in a crate so that way we don't have any accidents or hiccups with the baby or my wife. The one thing I will say about Bella is that she's very protective as the alpha female she protects her territory and protects what is hers when she's outside she loves to run she just loved being outside. But like I said with me and my wife working she has to stay in a cage and it's not fair to her to be in xxxx@xxxx.x I'm looking for someone who is willing to spend time with Bella take her own Adventures on walks let her know that she is loved

Story
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Joleeene...If anyone could take a man from national treasure Dolly Parton, it’s this Jolene -- and not because she’s a homewrecker! It’s because she’s 75 pounds of pure joy, wrapped in a shiny black coat and powered by love, zoomies, and an unshakable belief that everyone she meets is her new best friend.Jolene is an 8-to-10-month-old Black Lab mix who was surrendered to an overcrowded rural shelter by a family who simply couldn’t afford to care for her anymore. She didn’t pout. She didn’t despair. She wagged her tail, snuggled up to the nearest human, and waited for something better. That “something better” turned out to be us -- and now we’re hoping the real best part is still ahead: YOU.She’s the kind of dog who’d never steal your man... but she might steal your sandwich, spot on the couch, and absolutely every ounce of your affection. She’s playful, sweet, wonderfully snuggly, and just the right amount of floppy. The kind of dog who fits perfectly into your life -- whether that means long walks and games of fetch, or evenings on the couch binging your favorite series. For the third time. So if your home is missing a little spark -- a little sparkle -- come meet Jolene. She won’t beg, but she’ll definitely win you over. And Dolly would understand.Jolene is waiting for you at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton.Visiting hours are 9 to noon, daily, including weekends and holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
This is Captain! A lab/pit mix. He was recently rescued from living in a crate full time and brought into our home to help him socialize with other dogs and become house trained outside the crate. He is in need of someone who can give him the attention he deserves. We would love to keep him but about 2 weeks after bringing him home we found out we were pregnant. He’s ok around children, but we are not sure how he will do with an infant. He does not know how big he is, but he is kind.

Story
Our wonderful dog Chessie came to us 7 years ago when she was around one and a half years old. We found her online and the previous owner did not know how old she was. They had a more aggressive dog so they chose to give Chessie away. She has been with us as we started a family but as our family has grown we are moving. The house we are moving to does not allow dogs so with a sadden heart we have to give her up. She is great with other dogs, cats, and kids. She is still playful and loves to run around outside.

Story
Allie came to us after her previous owner had passed. When she arrived here, she presented with a torn ACL in her knee. Our medical team has been working with Allie since her arrival, and she did receive a repair surgery early March 2025. She is currently available for Foster-to-Adopt since she will have checkups following her surgery. She adores playing ball and tug of war, being a high energy girl, she needs outlets for her to burn some of that energy off (limited activity right now due to injury and recovery) Allie has displayed some anxious tendencies while staying here in the shelter but she is fully house broken and does not mess in her kennel. She is very loyal, vocal, and cuddly. Allie is not on the adoption floor currently so if you`d like to visit, please ask a staff member for her by name!
