Story
Meet Charlie, a 9-year-old Lab mix with a heart of gold and just a touch of “stranger danger” at first glance. He might start off a little shy—think “awkward first date energy”—but give him a minute (and maybe a kind word or two), and he’ll be your new best friend before you know it. Charlie is basically the social butterfly of the dog world when it comes to other pups—he gets along great with dogs and even gives cats a respectful nod. He’s fully trained (yes, he’s got manners and brains), thanks to Pawsitive Dog Training School, and his future family will get 12 free private lessons to keep the good vibes going. Charlie may be 9 but he 😬IS NOT AWARE😬 he needs an ⚡️active home⚡️ that’s down to workout w this lil big booty boi. he is good w dogs (he usually prefers they’re smaller than him) and his foster thinks w proper intro he could do well w cats too! for sure though charlie says noooo ty future bestie to a home w any human children🙅‍♂️ char is also great at couch lounging, or just wandering around the house pretending to be productive. His motto? “If you’re there, I’m there.” He’s fantastic off-leash, loves being part of whatever you’re doing, and is truly just happy to be by your side. Charlie is ready to trade in his “temporary digs” for a forever home filled with love, companionship, and maybe a few treats (okay, definitely treats). If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle, slightly goofy companion who will warm your heart daily—Charlie’s been waiting just for you🐾

*** Waylon is NOT in the direct care of Happy Tails Happy Homes. We are assisting his current owners in rehoming him. If you are interested in Waylon, please fill out an application at https://www.happytailshappyhomes.org/adoptionform *** Breed: Mixed (7 breeds) Age: 4 years old (DOB 11/29/20) Health: Neutered, vaccinated, and in excellent health Location: Bellingham, WA ❤️ About Waylon Waylon is a gentle, soulful dog with a heart of gold. Rescued from a Montana reservation at just 12 weeks old, he survived a harsh winter with only two of his littermates. Because of this early hardship, he’s both deeply loyal and understandably sensitive. He’s affectionate and loving once he feels safe, and enjoys quiet companionship and long moments watching the stars beside his favorite humans. When he trusts you, he’s goofy, devoted, and full of heart. 🌿 Ideal Home Waylon thrives with space, peace, and consistency. The perfect home for him would have: Land or acreage where he can roam freely and safely. No neighboring dogs sharing a fence, as he’s protective of his space. A calm environment without the constant noise of the city or frequent visitors. Another friendly, balanced dog he can play and coexist with. No young children under 10, as sudden noise or fast movements can overwhelm him. He’s happiest in a rural or semi-rural home where he can explore, relax, and feel secure. 🐕 Personality and Behavior Waylon is a sweet but cautious dog. He can be: Reactive when startled or encountering unfamiliar dogs. Anxious in chaotic or noisy settings. Playful once he knows and trusts other dogs. Affectionate but independent, appreciating his personal space and quiet time. His reactivity comes from fear, not aggression — with patience and understanding, his loving, loyal side shines through. He bonds deeply with those who give him consistency and calm. 🏡 Why He Needs a New Home With a new baby in the house, the increased activity and noise have made it difficult for Waylon to feel fully comfortable. He deserves a peaceful home where he can relax and thrive again. 🌟 Waylon’s Wishlist Room to roam freely The ability to go outside when he wants No shared-fence neighbor dogs Hikes through woods or near water Fetch a couple of times per day A dog friend to play with A comfortable couch or bed to curl up on 🧡 Summary Waylon is a sensitive, loyal companion with endless love to give. He just needs a peaceful environment, open space, and a patient, understanding person who values quiet moments and steady companionship. If you’re looking for a devoted dog who will walk beside you, watch the stars with you, and love you deeply once you’ve earned his trust, Waylon may be your perfect match.

Story
If Huey was a person he would be the captain of the track team who volunteers on the weekends at the local hospital. He is athletic and personable, a great balance, and it doesn’t hurt that he is handsome. The reality though is he is a dog, with legs made for adventure and love to share. We estimate Huey to be around 2-years-old and we suspect he may be a Labrador mix but of course because he is a rescue both of those details cannot be guaranteed. He is a great mid-size boy weighing in at 70 lbs. You surely noticed in his photos but this boy has a set of ears on him that are so expressive and ensure he doesn’t miss anything. Huey is so fortunate and has been in a loving foster home while he waits for his adoption day. This is wonderful for him and you! He gets to master all the skills needed to be the best boy and you get a dog that is home-life ready. This also gives us a front row seat to who he is at home. When you get a puppy its a cross your fingers and hope you get a good one, you never get to know if their personality is going to be the dreamy fit you hope for. That is the beauty of choosing a rescue though, you practically get a spec sheet and know if the quirks are the ones you’re okay with. With that, Huey has quirks that are common in rescue dogs and will be nothing short of just that -quirks. A confident loving person by his side, some basic structure and consistency is all any dog needs to succeed. Let’s start with all his goodness, Huey is incredibly smart, motivate, and responds well to being led with confidence. Honestly, I was impressed with how he sort of straightened up and came to life when his leash was handed to someone he is familiar with and approaches him with respect and expectation. This is a boy that thrives with boundaries! And thanks to his foster family, he does great in a crate, is house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. My favorite detail his fosters shared about him was how much he enjoys following his people around, a bit ninja like, a quiet shadow. He doesn’t want to disturb you, just to be close to you. Now for the “tour” of Huey’s dream home- actually, it might be easier to tell you what is scratched off the list. Apartment life is not his favorite. If you watched his video, you know his love of running and playing in the backyard is too true and deep for him to ever live without a yard to let loose in. Also, apartment life means all potty breaks are on leash and he is still working on his leash skills in busy areas. Navigating hallways and sidewalks on leash multiple times a day is just not the Huey vibe. No fast-life or busy-cities for Huey. Huey has had several fosters, with different home lives and he has thrived in both despite how different they are. One was a busy family, 3 kids and the neighborhood hub for kids on the block. The other, a wonderful couple and 7 other dogs in the home, who he plays with well, shares toys, and fits right into the pack. Both of these environments would be considered “busy” but he was great! In the home with children, he built a beautiful friendship with the 8 year old, who said they were “best-friends” and all the kids praised him for being the funnest playmate with the best cuddlier. .The thing is, sometimes you can be good at something but not want that forever or always. This is where Huey is with kids, long-term living with kids is not for him. We joke that he is like the fun uncle- he will play all the games, share all the toys, roll in the grass, give 1000% to the fun- but he can do that because at the end of the visit they go home and so does he- the peaceful life. Same Huey! Same! Totally get it! Invite the kids over, Huey will be a hit, then watch him take the most glorious nap in his cozy, peaceful home. Huey currently lives with 7 other dogs, he shares toys like a dream and is a great playmate. The key to him being in a home with other dogs is best seen in how the fosters manage one small element of their schedule- meal time. A very common and understandable behavior he has shown is that he does not like other dogs to attempt to eat his food. Same Huey! Same! This behavior is called resource guarding- food being the resource- guarding being him giving a clear boundary to another dog about what he has. The simple way his foster avoids this ever being an issue in a house full of dogs is by feeding him, and the others, in their crates and not offering treats or table food to any of the dogs. If you have experience with this type of behavior you know, it is easy to manage and can just as easily be a non-issue. On the other side, a one-dog household eliminates the potential for tension over meal time. You know what works for you and if he is your one and only you won’t go without- he has plenty of personality and love to give. The biggest thing to know is we want to set him up for success in a calm, structured home with someone who gets him. If you are feeling like he may be the one for you but want some more info or feedback on whether your home is that place, be in touch, we are more than happy to discuss that, no guessing needed. This boy is smart, active, and has a thing for the great outdoors—whether it’s a mountain trail or a quick ride around town, Huey’s will be ready to tag along. Bonus- he rides well in the car, likes a good breeze, and won’t say no to a nap on the couch after any adventure, big or small. While he can be affectionate, he’s not overly needy. My favorite! Huey is why we rescue, the gratefulness, the loyalty, and the deepest love you could imagine comes with the bond you share with your rescue. Huey has a head start on being the best boy, all the potential and drive, with a lot of love to give. With his very-own forever person, y’all are headed into a really good life together. Story
Meet Shana Grace (Gracie)! Shana Grace is an absolute doll—she has the most beautiful black and brown brindle coat, the softest puppy-dog eyes, and the cutest floppy ears that bounce when she walks! At around 4 years old, she’s ready to bring calm, love, and snuggles into her forever home. Gracie is believed to be a Lab / Plott Hound mix—but since she’s a rescue, we can’t make any promises. What we can promise is that she’s 100% adorable and 110% lovebug. See her sweet smile in her video! https://youtu.be/dlxCw5G0JmQ?feature=shared Gracie is a total couch potato princess. Her perfect day is a slow stroll in the yard, a cozy nap in a sunny spot, and then curling up right beside you for cuddles. She’s house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and enjoys peaceful car rides where she can watch the world go by. She’s affectionate without being demanding, and she will happily give kisses to her foster sister—or to anyone she trusts. Gracie is a gentle, calm soul. She can be a little shy when meeting new dogs, but once she feels comfortable, she’s happy to relax nearby or slowly join in play on her terms. She has been around children and teenagers, and with her mellow temperament, she would likely be amazing with kids. She’s patient, gentle, and sweet, making her a perfect companion for a family who wants a calm, loving pup by their side. When it comes to cats, Gracie’s cat test was a little inconclusive because she was distracted and curious about everything else going on in the room. She did not show any signs of aggression, but until we can do a more thorough test, we just don’t know for sure. If you think Gracie might be the one for your family, reach out to us, and we can explore her cat compatibility further—she may surprise you! Gracie isn’t much into toys yet, but she’s highly treat-motivated, which makes her a wonderful learner. She’s likely to pick up new tricks quickly, especially with a patient and loving family. With her calm, low-energy personality, she’d thrive in either an apartment or a home with a yard where she can sunbathe, relax, and enjoy life at her own pace. Shana Grace truly has an “old soul” charm—she’s sweet, gentle, and endlessly loving. If you’re looking for a loyal, calm, and affectionate companion who will shower you with love, quietly join you in every part of your day, and melt your heart with her floppy-eared sweetness, Gracie is your girl. She’s ready to find her forever home and be the loving best friend you’ve been waiting for. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
This sweet caramel-swirled girl walks around like a warm hug with legs. Her name is Sadey, spelled S-A-D-E-Y, because even her name deserves a little extra sparkle. She's got those soft, floppy ears that look like angels handcrafted them, and a smile so sweet it could power a small town. When Sadey loves you (which takes, oh… about three seconds), she does that full-body lean that slowly melts into a dramatic flop right onto your feet. Belly rubs? Mandatory. Kisses? Unlimited. Personal space? She’s unfamiliar with the concept. We think Sadie is a Lab/ Golden Retriever mix, but with rescue, it's always a best guess! She currently weighs 58 lbs and is about 2 years old, so past the crazy puppy stage and in the perfect place to love exploring and fun just as much as she loves a long nap on the couch! Watch Sadey's video here! https://youtu.be/fpIECUls1RE?si=z2THWbvKNW4R5RIS Sadey greets new people like she’s been waiting her whole life to meet you. She warms up instantly and showers everyone with affection. The term stranger danger does not exist in her vocabulary. Whoever happens to be holding snacks or just existing nearby. She’s got that “I love you already!!!” energy, but delivered in a soft, polite, wiggly package. When it comes to other dogs, Sadey is a total character. She has a whole playlist of play styles: polite sniffing, zoomy circles, goofy pounces, paws in the air, full body bumps, along with some mouthy play as well and excited play-talk that sounds like she’s narrating her own sitcom. She’s not wild or overwhelming, just a creative little social butterfly who loves making doggy friends and has great manners once everyone gets acquainted. She handles the rough-and-rowdy types like a champ, but she’s just as happy hanging with the mellow crowd. She’d thrive with a friendly canine sibling, but also rocks being the adorable only child. Sadey is cat friendly too and has done great with our house cat biggie and has also lived in a home with cats before. She treats them like quirky little roommates LOL curious but respectful, and always ready to give them space if they give her “the look.” With kiddos (especially older ones), she’s sweet, gentle, and very “pick me, pick me!” in the cutest way possible. We haven’t seen her around younger kiddos, but it’s never a big deal to test if Sadey is littles approved! Just let us know! She loves her walks, loves exploring, loves being adored, and loves being included in whatever her people are doing. When out and about on a walk, she will pull every now and then out of excitement and likes to show off her voice when she see's a friendly face or a doggy friend. She does well with correction and with consistency and structured walks, Sadey will continue to learn that's not very lady like of her. And when the adventures wind down? She curls up into the softest, sleepiest little cinnamon roll, sighs dramatically, and powers down for snuggle time. Sadey would thrive with a semi active family in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, play chase with her potential doggy siblings, and enjoy those nice summer days. She thrives with structure and will do best with an adopter that has a little experience under the belt and will provide her the structure that she needs. Also, bonus points if you have a pool or some form of water nearby because she loves the water and has the best time splashing around kicking up water. Not sure what Sadey loves most though...playing in the water or the towel dry afterwards LOL. It's a win win situation regardless for Sadey. If you want a dog who is sunshine wrapped in fur, a sweetheart who greets life (and you) with a waggy tail, warm eyes, and pure-hearted joy, Sadey is waiting to wiggle her way right into your home and your heart. We are willing to test Sadey with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
