Story
Poppy was born in a SoCal animal shelter on May 2nd; and we got the puppies when they were 2 days old. Momma is Rosey, and she has been a wonderful mom to all 5 of her babies; we don't know who the dad is but we suspect he is a small dog like Rosey. We're estimating the pups will weigh approximately 15-18 pounds when fully grown. They are healthy and happy little girls, very sweet with calm temperaments, and they love to be held. They are all adorable, and we just can't pick a favorite! Maybe you can. :) If you're thinking about adopting a puppy, please keep in mind that puppies get under-foot and can trip seniors or accidentally get stepped on. And, just like a human baby, they need constant supervision. These little girls are still very fragile, so inexperienced animal handlers or rough unaware kids could hurt them. And please make sure you have the time and the ability to be home with her most of the time and train her. Adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment for the life of the dog, and these small dogs can live 15-20 years. We want to place pups in forever homes. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting a puppy, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.

Story
We rescued Rosey from a SoCal shelter two days after giving birth to 5 female pups. Rosey is white and has straight Maltese type long hair, and we're guessing she's about 3-4 years old. She weighs 15 pounds now, but once all the pups are fully weaned she should fill out to about 18 pounds to be healthy. When she arrived, she was scared, timid and wanting to be held, and she quickly bonded with her foster mom and the other household members. She greets strangers first with a bark, then a sniff, then she calms down. She is thin and her hair is sparse, which may be due to malnourishment prior to coming into rescue. She's been eating lots of good and healthy food in her foster home, but nursing moms have a hard time putting on weight no matter how much you feed them. The pups are eating food now, but they love the closeness that nursing provides, and Rosey still allows it. She's a great mom and took very good care of her pups. Rosey is timid at first and will need some help with confidence building; lots of pets, and being able to be near you a lot at first until she gets used to her new environment will go a long way. A regular routine is key to helping dogs feel safe, and is key to training Rosey. She finds comfort in knowing what to expect and routine creates this. Rosey will make someone a wonderful, sweet and affectionate companion. Like all dogs who go into a new environment, you will need to potty train her so she will learn your expectations, where and when to go. Also, walking on leash is new to her, but with some patience and encouragement she will learn to love her walks. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Rosey, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.

Story
I got Cantinflas from a person on facebook less than a year ago, he’s a five year old Maltese small dog. He’s amazing with children and other pets he doesn’t bark at all very quiet doggy. I’d describe him as loving, gentle, very calm, and just a sweetheart in general. He loves going on walks and yes he leads the way when he’s at the house it’s almost as if he’s not there because again you never hear him bark. I love this dog so much that I want him to find a home where he’ll be loved and I’ll always know he’ll be okay so if you decide you’re interested love him the same way he’ll love you be his safe space like he’ll be for you. Unfortunately life changes happen and I’m not in a place where I can give him his forever home with me so I’m hoping I can find him one through one of you.

Story
Please meet our newest addition to our Umbrella of Hope Rescue: Mooncalf FANTASTIC BEASTS!! We are asking for your help for this sweet 12 yr old senior girl who has already endured more than her fair share of medical challenges.   When she arrived in our care, her diabetes was completely uncontrolled. Her blood glucose levels were so high they were literally off the charts and unable to register. To give her the chance at a comfortable, healthy life, she will require insulin injections under the skin twice a day for the rest of her life.   But diabetes is only one of her many medical concerns. She also suffers from KCS (dry eye) in both eyes, a painful condition that requires specialized eye medication twice daily to keep her comfortable and preserve her vision. Her skin is in horrible condition as you can see in the photos. On top of that, she has a mammary mass and several other age-related medical issues that we are continuing to evaluate and treat.   Despite everything she has been through, she remains sweet, gentle, and trusting. She deserves the chance to spend her golden years surrounded by love, comfort, and proper medical care. The costs of her ongoing treatment, medications, diagnostics, and veterinary care add up quickly, but we are committed to giving her the quality of life she deserves. We simply can't do it without your support.   Please consider making a donation today. Every dollar helps provide insulin, prescription eye drops, veterinary visits, and the specialized care this precious senior girl needs. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet.  Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.   We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.  We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  July 13, 2026, 11:31 am
