Story
Murdoc is a three-year-old Maltese mix who was found stray in Fresno and is now ready for a fresh start. This little guy is understandably timid at first, but underneath that cautious exterior is a gentle, loving heart that’s slowly learning to trust again. Murdoc is also deaf, and it only makes him more special. Deaf dogs are incredibly intuitive and tend to form deep, attentive bonds with their people. Murdoc communicates beautifully through eye contact and body language, and with consistency and simple hand signals, he will continue to gain confidence. He looks to his humans for reassurance — and when he feels safe, his sweetness truly shines. True to his Maltese roots, Murdoc is sensitive, devoted, and deeply people-oriented. Maltese are known for forming strong bonds with their humans, and we’re already seeing that in him — he just needs a little time to feel secure. Once he warms up, his affectionate nature begins to blossom. Murdoc is friendly and kind, simply taking life at his own pace. He would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can build confidence through positive reinforcement and gentle guidance. Because he’s deaf, a secure environment and attentive adopter will help him feel safe and supported. At three years old, Murdoc is past the puppy stage but still young, with so much love to give. He’s ready to trade uncertainty for cozy beds, soft touches, and a family who will cherish him exactly as he is. If you’re looking for a soft-hearted, loyal little companion who will bond deeply and love you wholeheartedly, Murdoc may be your perfect match. 💛

Story
I adopted Calla Lilly from a rescue about 5 years ago. Her owner had died. She is a senior but has all the energy of a puppy. She is very loving and likes kissing and sitting on your lap. Currently she lives with a very old maltese. She is a great watchdog and will especially protect you from squirrels. She is only 7 lbs, but thinks she is a Great Dane. That’s the problem. I am marrying a man who has a German Shepherd mix, and Calla thinks she needs to protect me from him. We are concerned that Calla could be injured if they find an opportunity to fight or if the German Shepherd accidentally hurts her while trying to play. The maltese will not provoke the German Shepherd and is much bigger. She would probably do well in a family with children who would run and play with her.

Story
&#226&#156&#168 Meet Boq Wicked — 6 lbs of tiny, determined heart &#226&#156&#168 Available for Adoption through Umbrella of Hope Boq Wicked is a 9-year-old, 6-pound Maltese mix with a soft black and white coat, a gentle spirit, and a lifetime of stories behind his cloudy eyes. He may be small, but this little gentleman has preferences, routines, and a quirky charm that make him unforgettable to those lucky enough to earn his trust. His Personality Boq is happiest when the world is quiet, steady, and predictable. His absolute favorite part of the day? His walks. He walks beautifully on leash and will trot right alongside you like the world’s tiniest hiking buddy. He gets along well with other dogs, but people are a different story — Boq needs time, patience, and a calm approach before he feels safe with new humans. Once he trusts you, he’s sweet, affectionate in his own gentle way, and very food-motivated. (Blueberries, watermelon, and chicken? Yes, please.) Because Boq is deaf and has limited vision, he can be reactive if startled. He’s not recommended for a home with small children. His perfect match is someone experienced with shy or special-needs pups — someone who recognizes that progress may be slow… but absolutely worth it. Daily Life with Boq • Not fully housebroken, but does well if taken outside regularly • Doesn’t enjoy crates, carriers, or car rides • Likes to explore, sniff, and take in the world on his walks • Occasionally plays with small toys (when the mood strikes) Boq isn’t a turnkey dog — he’s a relationship dog. He needs someone who sees beyond first impressions and understands the quiet magic of earning the trust of a fearful pup. In return, you’ll get loyalty, routine, companionship, and the joy of being his safe place. If you’re patient, compassionate, and looking for a small senior buddy who just needs someone to believe in him, Boq Wicked might be your perfect match. Story
These castaways washed up on Milo’s doorstep sick and terrified. With proper medical care, good food and daily attention, they are slowly learning they are safe. It’s taking us time to work through the shyness, but it’s very evident that they just want to be with people they love. With patience and TLC, these sweet Shih Tzus are blossoming into loving companions. Skipper is the most outgoing and engaged of this bunch. He is bigger than his sibs, and is always in front of them in case they need protecting. He is super playful and food motivated. Once he trusts you he loves to roll over for some belly rubs.
