Hi, my name is Dexter. I'm a happy-go-lucky guy who got dealt a bad hand in life, but I am not letting that get me down. I live life to my fullest despite my mobility issues! I'm a nine-year-old bundle of energy and joy. I'm a Maltese-poodle mix (who looks an awful lot like a Bichon, in my auntie's opinion!) I was born with a neurological disorder that affects my equilibrium and my ability to walk--but I don't let that get me down! I'm too smart for that...nothing stops me. BROC has equipped me with the latest and greatest doggie wheels, of course, and I'm a champion driver--but even without wheels I can scramble around the yard to chase my foster brother - as well as any other dog. My technique might not win awards, but I don't care! I get to where I want to go, with or without wheels. Speaking of "go"...I am fully housebroken. All I need is someone to take me to the "potty place" a few times a day (same as any other dog), and that is one of the reasons I need a special person. You see, I can't get to the yard on my own, and it isn't safe for me to be alone out there anyway. My special person also would need to ensure my safety in the home. Being that I'm not so graceful, my person needs to make sure the home is safe - without things that could harm me if I were to, let's say, meet them head-on at cruising speed. My current foster mom created a large, enclosed "Dexter Den" for me, complete with a big bed, my favorite toys, water of course, and plenty of space to move around. I stay in my den when my foster mom needs to leave the house. When she's home, I just hang out in my den or roam around. The bottom line is this: Apart from my neurological condition, I am a very normal, healthy dog who is full of joy and very loving. Everyone I meet falls in love with me, because I know how to put on the charm! I don't require a lot of work, but I do need special help and attention...thus it takes a special person. Bella is a 1-year-old, 6-pound Maltese/Shih Tzu mix looking for a special foster or adoptive home. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, cuddly, and loves being close to her people. Bella would thrive in a calm home without very young children and with someone able to manage ongoing veterinary care.Bella was born with a congenital portosystemic liver shunt and underwent corrective liver shunt surgery and spay surgery six weeks ago. She is recovering well, and her surgeon believes early intervention gives her the best chance for a good long-term outcome. She may require ongoing monitoring, and recent imaging also showed kidney and bladder stones that are currently being monitored.We will provide all food, medications, supplies, and medical records.This has been an incredibly difficult decision for our family. Bella is deeply loved, and our only goal is to find her the caring, committed home she deserves.

Ruby is a 5-year-old, 18 lb Maltese mix who came from an unimaginably neglectful situation. She had been living outside in a filthy crate covered by a tarp, with a severely matted coat. She had such advanced dental disease that her jaw fractured as a result. Despite everything she has endured, Ruby has continued to amaze us every step of the way with her strength, sweetness, and determination. Ruby has recovered from her dental and her jaw fracture is healed. You can tell how much happier she is as a result! Ruby's back left leg has a partial amputation, which we don't know the history of. It doesn't seem to bother her and she gets around just fine on 3 legs. We are working to get her fitted for a prosthetic that she can wear long term. Ruby was also diagnosed with a heart murmur, but she is on medication for this and hasn't been symptomatic. This should be monitored with follow up echocardiograms as needed. Since coming into rescue, she has grown stronger and healthier, blossoming into a happy little companion who is ready to begin her next chapter with a loving family of her own. Ruby is friendly, affectionate, and enjoys the company of other dogs and even cats too. She loves car rides, adventures, and being close to her people. Ruby is also extremely well-mannered in the home and has a calm, gentle presence that makes her such a joy to be around. After all she’s been through, Ruby deserves a family who will cherish her, spoil her, and show her the love and safety she’s always deserved.
