Meet Trixie! Trixie unfortunately was surrendered to us by owners who were moving and could not keep her. Trixie is a sweet, family-friendly girl with a just-right medium energy level—happy to join you for daily activities but also content to relax at home. She has a soft mouth and gentle manners, making her a lovely companion for a variety of households. Trixie is housetrained, crate trained, and can be left alone for up to four hours, which makes her an easy addition to your routine. She’s affection-motivated and truly shines when she’s getting love, praise, and attention from her people. Story
These castaways washed up on Milo’s doorstep sick and terrified. With proper medical care, good food and daily attention, they are slowly learning they are safe. It’s taking us time to work through the shyness, but it’s very evident that they just want to be with people they love. With patience and TLC, these sweet Shih Tzus are blossoming into loving companions. Skipper is the most outgoing and engaged of this bunch. He is bigger than his sibs, and is always in front of them in case they need protecting. He is super playful and food motivated. Once he trusts you he loves to roll over for some belly rubs.

Story
Howell/Ace of Hearts is getting over his skittishness and showing his playful, cuddly side. He’s a really sweet, soft, perfect-sized dog (20 lbs), with sweet grey-brown coloring and an adorable heart shaped patch of white fur on his chest. He’s youthful and playful, but has a chill, low-maintenance personality. Right now, he’s bonding with women and slower to come around to men, but that should change with time. With his current foster mom, he is affectionate, obedient and attentive. He cooperates with putting on his harness for walks but lifting each leg in turn, and is very gentle and well behaved on the leash. He seems fine with other dogs, showing interest and appropriate behavior. He likes to play a lot, chasing his new favorite squeaky ball and rag toy, but not manic or zany. He’s very quiet, and has only barked a little when he’s seen a squirrel in a tree and when he gets especially excited to play. He loves to sit outside under a bush chewing on his bone toy for hours. He’s taken to collecting socks and shoes from around the house, but hasn’t chewed on anything except his toys. He’s sleeping well at night in his dog bed. He shows no signs of aggression at all - has a very gentle mouth for taking treats. When he’s uncomfortable, his tail drops and he retreats. He’s going to make a lucky family very happy, and it suited to an active family where a female can take the lead at the beginning and continue to let him relax into his true, sweet, loving nature with everyone.

Story
&#226&#156&#168 Meet Boq Wicked — 6 lbs of tiny, determined heart &#226&#156&#168 Available for Adoption through Umbrella of Hope Boq Wicked is a 9-year-old, 6-pound Maltese mix with a soft black and white coat, a gentle spirit, and a lifetime of stories behind his cloudy eyes. He may be small, but this little gentleman has preferences, routines, and a quirky charm that make him unforgettable to those lucky enough to earn his trust. His Personality Boq is happiest when the world is quiet, steady, and predictable. His absolute favorite part of the day? His walks. He walks beautifully on leash and will trot right alongside you like the world’s tiniest hiking buddy. He gets along well with other dogs, but people are a different story — Boq needs time, patience, and a calm approach before he feels safe with new humans. Once he trusts you, he’s sweet, affectionate in his own gentle way, and very food-motivated. (Blueberries, watermelon, and chicken? Yes, please.) Because Boq is deaf and has limited vision, he can be reactive if startled. He’s not recommended for a home with small children. His perfect match is someone experienced with shy or special-needs pups — someone who recognizes that progress may be slow… but absolutely worth it. Daily Life with Boq • Not fully housebroken, but does well if taken outside regularly • Doesn’t enjoy crates, carriers, or car rides • Likes to explore, sniff, and take in the world on his walks • Occasionally plays with small toys (when the mood strikes) Boq isn’t a turnkey dog — he’s a relationship dog. He needs someone who sees beyond first impressions and understands the quiet magic of earning the trust of a fearful pup. In return, you’ll get loyalty, routine, companionship, and the joy of being his safe place. If you’re patient, compassionate, and looking for a small senior buddy who just needs someone to believe in him, Boq Wicked might be your perfect match. Story
This mellow and sweet 15-pound guy loves walks around the block, chilling with his people on the couch, and meeting new friends. He walks well on leash and is coming along well with house training. He’s good with kids and would love to be a second dog but could do well as an only dog too. Please note, Atherton will need regular grooming to keep him happy. Is Atherton your new family member? Fill out a questionnaire and a volunteer will contact you. (NS)
