Story
I got Cantinflas from a person on facebook less than a year ago, he’s a five year old Maltese small dog. He’s amazing with children and other pets he doesn’t bark at all very quiet doggy. I’d describe him as loving, gentle, very calm, and just a sweetheart in general. He loves going on walks and yes he leads the way when he’s at the house it’s almost as if he’s not there because again you never hear him bark. I love this dog so much that I want him to find a home where he’ll be loved and I’ll always know he’ll be okay so if you decide you’re interested love him the same way he’ll love you be his safe space like he’ll be for you. Unfortunately life changes happen and I’m not in a place where I can give him his forever home with me so I’m hoping I can find him one through one of you.

Story
Gilligan is a quirky little man who is also very independent. Don’t let the scruffy fur fool you, this little man is a jewel in the rough. Speaking of rough, he and siblings had a rough start in life but he has come so far. Gilligan has a mellow disposition and is dog friendly. His perfect home would include a friendly resident dog. He loves to play and chase is a favorite game for him. Gilligan is treat motivated, which will really help with his ongoing training. He’s a bit shy and may take some time to decompress but that’s to be expected with any rescue critter. Are you ready for a cutie pie like Gilligan?

Story
Mr. Howell is a really sweet, soft, perfect-sized dog (20 lbs), with grey-brown coloring and an adorable heart shaped patch of white fur on his chest. He’s youthful and playful, but has a chill, low-maintenance personality. He loves toys and is happy to play with his person or entertain himself. He has done very well with female fosters -- coming out of his shell, playing and showing affection. However, men in the household (and our male staff members) still frighten him weeks or even months later. This special boy needs an all female household, preferably with another dog. He needs plenty of time to adjust and lots of help to build his confidence. He will reward your patience with endless love.

Story
Please meet our newest addition to our Umbrella of Hope Rescue: Mooncalf FANTASTIC BEASTS!! We are asking for your help for this sweet 12 yr old senior girl who has already endured more than her fair share of medical challenges.   When she arrived in our care, her diabetes was completely uncontrolled. Her blood glucose levels were so high they were literally off the charts and unable to register. To give her the chance at a comfortable, healthy life, she will require insulin injections under the skin twice a day for the rest of her life.   But diabetes is only one of her many medical concerns. She also suffers from KCS (dry eye) in both eyes, a painful condition that requires specialized eye medication twice daily to keep her comfortable and preserve her vision. Her skin is in horrible condition as you can see in the photos. On top of that, she has a mammary mass and several other age-related medical issues that we are continuing to evaluate and treat.   Despite everything she has been through, she remains sweet, gentle, and trusting. She deserves the chance to spend her golden years surrounded by love, comfort, and proper medical care. The costs of her ongoing treatment, medications, diagnostics, and veterinary care add up quickly, but we are committed to giving her the quality of life she deserves. We simply can't do it without your support.   Please consider making a donation today. Every dollar helps provide insulin, prescription eye drops, veterinary visits, and the specialized care this precious senior girl needs. Story
âœ¨ Meet Boq  — 6 lbs of tiny, determined heart ✨ Available for Adoption through Umbrella of Hope Boq Wicked is a 9-year-old, 6-pound Maltese mix with a soft black and white coat, a gentle spirit, and a lifetime of stories behind his cloudy eyes. He may be small, but this little gentleman has preferences, routines, and a quirky charm that make him unforgettable to those lucky enough to earn his trust. His Personality Boq is happiest when the world is quiet, steady, and predictable. His absolute favorite part of the day? His walks. He walks beautifully on leash and will trot right alongside you like the world’s tiniest hiking buddy. He gets along well with other dogs, he’s sweet, affectionate in his own gentle way, and very food-motivated. (Blueberries, watermelon, and chicken? Yes, please.) Because Boq is deaf and has limited vision, he can be reactive if startled. He’s not recommended for a home with small children. His perfect match is someone experienced with shy or special-needs pups — someone who recognizes that progress may be slow… but absolutely worth it. Daily Life with Boq • Likes to explore, sniff, and take in the world on his walks • Occasionally plays with small toys (when the mood strikes) If you’re patient, compassionate, and looking for a small senior buddy who just needs someone to believe in him, Boq Wicked might be your perfect match. Story
Smiley senior Opal was likely named for her stunning colors and her core belief that she’s a gem of a dog. We dare you to look this marvelous Maltese in the face with out breaking out into a grin yourself – Opal just inspires happiness and joy. Opal is here to make friends and meet new people, with a positive attitude and a grin from ear to ear. Does she love a good treat? Absolutely. Human attention? She’s always down. The only thing this little lady needs to take her life from good to great is a forever home filled with love like she’s filled with positivity. If you’ve been feeling a conspicuous, Opal shaped hole in your life, we have just the thing for that! Here's some notes from her foster: Opal is a gentle, sweet senior with a quiet charm all her own. At 14 years young, she can still surprise you with a burst of speed when the mood strikes! She has been the perfect houseguest, settling into her routine with ease and looking to her people for reassurance as she navigates new surroundings. As Opal becomes more comfortable, she's beginning to enjoy gentle pats and soft scratches behind her ears. While she's not a velcro or lap dog, the moments she chooses to sit nearby or quietly check in on you feel especially rewarding. She has a calm, independent spirit and builds trust at her own pace, making every little sign of affection feel like a gift. Opal also seems to enjoy car rides and is always happy to tag along on an adventure. She's shown a friendly curiosity toward other dogs and appears interested in making new canine friends. If you're looking for a peaceful companion who asks for little but offers quiet, heartfelt companionship in return, Opal may be the perfect match.
