He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped, included in his $350 adoption fee. These sweet pups love people and cuddling, and are already house trained, making them the perfect companions for anyone looking to add some furry love to their life. Effie, a Maltese Shih Tzu, is a beautiful white pup with a heart of gold, while LV, a Havanese Shih Tzu mix, is a charming black and white furball who will steal your heart with her playful antics. These lovely dogs are free to a good home, as their previous owner is unable to care for them due to medical reasons. Story
Say hello to Frieda! She is a 6 year old Maltese/Chihuahua mix (throw in almost 25% Pug and you've got a super cool mutt per her DNA testing!). Frieda is a stout, stocky girl weighing in at 21lbs. This girl is a sweetheart and will make an excellent canine companion for a lucky family. Frieda is housetrained and has wonderful leash manners. She is very food motivated and this has made her training quite fun and rewarding. Frieda does not need a ton of exercise - she is quite content with a daily walk in addition to regular potty breaks. Frieda is not overly needy either - she happily seeks attention, pets, and praise, then is happy to lay on her bed quietly chewing her bone. Just don't be late for breakfast time or dinner time or Frieda will remind you with the song of her people! Frieda would be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home. She does not mind the company of other dogs though and may consider sharing her home with a friendly, calm dog (Frieda is not looking for a playmate, but rather a canine roommate/companion). A quiet, adult home or one with gentle teenagers would be a good match for Frieda as well. To learn more about how to make Frieda your next 4-legged family member, please contact Beth at beth.b@poainc.org AND complete an application ASAP at www.poainc.org

Story
You may remember Sammy, our floofy 6-pound Maltese mix, from last year. Sadly, this little guy’s adopter has fallen ill, and so he has had to return to us. We believe Sammy is around 3 years old. He is unsure about why he’s in the shelter again after having landed in a loving home. He’ll need to build his confidence back up and learn to trust all over again, but we know he can do it. He just needs someone willing to offer him patience and personal space so he can start to feel safe once more. This teensy peanut gets along perfectly with dogs and cats. He loves people he trusts, but it does takes time to earn that. His curiosity is part of his charm; he’ll closely watch everything you do. You’ll want to walk him through what he can expect from you each step of the way. He may even cower in fear when you prepare to leash him up for an outing. He’d most likely benefit from living with a fellow (more confident) canine sibling his size to help him navigate the big, wide world. You’ll enjoy his bouncy sashay on walks. Even strolls in the rain don’t put him off. Having time out and about town gives him a chance to satisfy his inquisitiveness, take in all the fascinating sights and smells, and check out how everyone in his neighborhood is doing. He’ll happily guard your home, but he’d much prefer that you refrain from teasing him with his food or toys. Once he knows you won’t take advantage of his diminutive size, Sammy will show you his belly and sleep in your lap. Note that his nickname is “Yogi” because he’ll lower himself into a wee downward dog pose if he's really enjoying the scritches you are sharing. He loves snoring under the covers in his human's bed. He’s housetrained and neutered. To make Sammy’s acquaintance, he asks that you please fill out an online application. Email stefanie.d@poainc.org to learn more.

She is a smart, energetic little firecracker that needs daily exercise and mental stimulation - no full-time lap dog or couch potato slouch here! Diva is looking for a home that will continue her training and show her structure and routine. She is overweight and needs a home committed to helping her to lose weight. Diva wants to be the only dog in her home please. Homes with respectful children, 10 years of age and older may be considered. Story
Well hello there, my name is Lilly! I'm an 18 month old Morkie (that's a Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier mix!) and I weigh in at 8lbs. Are you looking for a new adventuresome furry sidekick? Well look no further, you just found her, er, me! People are just hands down my favorite thing in the world. Running, playing, and kicking up my heels daily is a must in my book. I'm a very bouncy, very active girl that is always up for outdoor time and walks. I LOVE to play endlessly with canine friends and having my own fur sibling in my new home would be awesome (as long as they can tolerate bouncy, endless play!) Kids? Sure! I'd be happy to have human siblings 6 years of age and older, if they can keep up with me wink wink! If you would like more information about me, please contact my talent agent Michelle at michelle.p@poainc.org AND please complete an adoption application ASAP at www.poainc.org
