Hello! Im Dorothy Jo, a pretty little 10-month-old, 10-lb Maltese Yorkie mix with a very soft coat and a happy personality. I was living in Uvalde, Texas, but when my owner could no longer care for me, I was surrendered to a dog rescue. I am now staying in a foster home while getting ready for adoption. I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find a forever family! Besides being extremely adorable, I am still a puppy at heart! Happy and friendly, gobs of energy, playful and active, a bit shy at first with strangers, but otherwise, great with people and other dogs. I love dog toys and Nylabones, and playing with other dogs. I am affectionate, but not clingy, doing great with housebreaking, and I know how to use a potty pad. I don't mind being in a crate, and I will walk on a leash with a bit of encouragement. I adapt easily to new situations, and I love meeting new dog friends. I would enjoy being included in family activities, and having an active lifestyle with another dog at home would make me the happiest girl in town! Meet Pookie, an older adult (approx. 10 years old) male Maltese weighing about 8 lbs! Pookie is too old to neuter and doesn't have many teeth but he is the sweetest boy! Pookie arrived in CT on 6/13. We are accepting applications for him now! He is a very sweet boy and great with everyone and other dogs! His foster said, "Pookie is the perfect gentlemen lap dog!" I might be small, but don’t let that fool you—I’ve got the energy of the Energizer Bunny and the confidence of a Great Dane. 💪 I don’t walk like other dogs—I bounce! It’s like my feet are made of springs, and I’m always ready for my next adventure. She has pretty much reached her adult height and weight with maybe 1 pound to gain. She is mostly Maltese and will need to be groomed every 2-3 months to keep her straight hair from tangling. DARCY is my shadow but she does not get in my way, she just likes to go wherever I go. DARCY does go outside to play with a couple of Shih Tzu's and have fun. DARCY can be a bit of a diva and a bossy little girl to the other dogs. She just tries to keep them in order. But she plays well with the others and she loves to cuddle. She is about 75% potty trained. I do not have a doggy door and let her out to potty with the other dogs and she does just fine. She is completely crate and house trained. I have no problem leaving her alone in my home with my personal dogs while I am gone. She is not destructive or get into personal items. I do not have any cats so I do not know how she would get along with them. It took DARCY about 2 days to get to know me and show her real personality so some patience is required but then she becomes your shadow and best friend.
