Daisy is a lovely almost two year old Maltipoo who was dumped at a Los Angeles city animal shelter by her owner with horribly matted and damaged fur and encrusted eyes, fearful and scared and snapping to defend herself and barking to appear strong. She is also very underweight underneath all that matted fur. We can only imagine what she must have been through. Currently Daisy is being assessed and treated by the vet and will be examined, get a fecal, urinalysis, blood test, be clipped and groomed and cleaned and her eyes medicated until they heal. She will also be handled and rehabilitated so she won't be afraid anymore and try to bite to defend herself. New photos coming soon. SIMON – Help & Sponsorship SIMON is a Maltipoo. A very sad story.... his mom lost her house due to foreclosure and brought him into the city shelter. She was crying and he was crying when she left him there. He was with his human mom since he was a small pup and is very sweet. SIMON is not so good with children or young teenagers. He has a little pink on his nose, loves to be held, and he needs a calm environment. He is very sweet, but very shy and timid. We have discovered that, like so many small pups abandoned at the pounds, Simon has not had any veterinary check-ups—possibly ever—no tooth exams, anal or ear exams, or blood panels or urinalysis done. So he needs lots of veterinary work and diagnostics. He is neutered however and current on his vaccinations. SAMANTHA – Help Needed-Currently Sponsorship SAMANTHA is a Maltipoo, and a little larger than a Maltese. She is good only with cats who are used to dogs as she will want to play. She is fearful of dogs larger than herself or are aggressive even in a playful way, so should never go to a dog park. She is not that good with lively, active children or young teenagers. SAMI is around 8 or 9 years old and we saved her from the pound in pretty run-down condition. Currently, before being adoption-ready, she needs a complete blood count and urinalysis, quite a few tooth extractions with sutures, and a deep cleaning of all her teeth and gums. She also needs surgery for a mass that needs to be removed but is not malignant (biopsy was done). She has had a complete exam which is how the mass was found. SAMANTHA has a cute little underbite and loves to cuddle and play with her toys. SAMI is spayed, and current on her vaccines. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION INTRODUCING DELANEY….a charming 10 lb, cream colored, 2-3 yr old MaltiPoo, who is as spunky and silly as she is cute! She came from the SEAACA shelter, and was extremely nervous there and growled behind the bars of her cage 🙁 She was a bit on the skittish side for about a minute, then she climbed out of her carrier, did her business on the pp pads (now does it outside for the most part — but no guarantees at your house!) and settled down quickly. Plus, she was a mess…but she was great at the groomer and enjoyed her “makeover” and so far has kept the bows in her head and her body in our laps! Delaney gets so excited when you come home or come to play with her! Sit on the couch and in 2 seconds, you have a best friend in your lap…then she is off to explore the next toy or towel or whatever is fluffy for her to relax in! She loves LOVES her walks — even in the rain — and never complains! Delaney might have been an interior designer if she was human — if she thinks the pillows are better suited for the floor that is where she puts them! She is not yappy or barky unless she wants your attention and you are ignoring her. Mostly, she is good with or without another dog as long as she isn’t left all alone. She will whine for a minute and then calms down. She just wants to hang out with you..does that sound like a fluff you can cuddle? She’s waiting!!! Our website is updated daily. Meet Hugo Hugo is an absolute miracle with a heart just as big as his story. This 6-year-old, 14.5-pound Maltese Terrier mix was found abandoned outside a liquor store in the pouring rain and rescued by the amazing team at Hope for Paws. When Hugo first came into care, he was completely blind due to severe cataracts. We immediately took over his care and rushed him to a veterinary ophthalmologist, knowing there was a chance surgery could restore his vision. Sadly, one eye could not be saved due to a fully detached retina—but hope remained for the other. Hugo bravely underwent surgery, and although complications initially made the outcome uncertain, this sweet boy persevered. After three weeks of intensive eye drops and injections, Hugo was able to see again. This was an absolute miracle. Today, Hugo is a loving, happy boy who truly enjoys life. He loves car rides, going on walks, playing with toys, and spending time with his doggie friends. He does best with slow introductions to new dogs, but once he’s comfortable, he’s friendly and playful. Hugo absolutely adores people and wants to be wherever his humans are—he’s a loyal little shadow who thrives on companionship. Hugo will need daily eye drops for the rest of his life and periodic ophthalmology rechecks to monitor his eyes. The good news? He’s a very good boy about getting his drops and handles his care like a champ. Hugo is looking for a calm, loving home that will continue his care and cherish the incredible soul he is.
