This sweet lady was brought into the South LA shelter on 7/11/23 and spent each day huddled in the back of her kennel run shaking and well....just miserable. And then one volunteer decided not to give up on her....and she coaxed Uki out of her corner and into the play yard. And it was the day our founder happened to be watching the dogs in the yard and she just knew Uki had to come into the Squad. Uki has come out of her shell and is just a kind, sweet, smart dog. She walks nicely on leash and is quick to learn commands. She loves people and snuggles up quickly - so yea, she's a little needy but it's super endearing. Uki obviously has had a few litters poor thing. But never again! If you are looking for a low key, loving dog....look no further. Hannibal started out life as a guard dog in a warehouse, which definitely doesn't suit his personality, but also explains why he just really enjoys chilling in the sun, or on a little patch of earth. He's comfortable with children and pets. He likes undemanding walks and isn't really the dog park type. Although he looks intimidating he's really a big teddy bear. Hi I'm Buccaneer! So nice to meet you! I'm an INCREDIBLE young *11 months old Mastiff mix (best guess). I weigh around 80 lbs. GREAT with all dogs. Playful, gorgeous leash skills, crate trained. I can be shy meeting new people. A home with young, wild kids might prove to be too much for me but calm kids I would appreciate. I am a prize! Can't wait to meet you! *please note All of our dogs are in private foster homes. Once you fill out an application it will be screened by our volunteer adoption team. From there, if your application looks like a good fit for the particular dog, it will be sent to the foster where you can ask all the questions you would like and schedule a meet and greet. Meet Daphne! We think she’s a new designer breed…a mini mastiff! We honestly don’t know what breeds she is but she’s a big girl (not very tall but muscular). She’s possibly mastiff, sharpei, maybe a little boxer or lab? Shes 64 pounds and about 9 months old. She is sweet as pie and is being fostered with other dogs. She is 100% crate trained and housebroken. She is working on her proper leash manners. She is a great puppy and just follows her foster mom around the house while she is working and find a comfy spot to lay in until they move on to the next task. She is great with her foster moms grandkids too! She loves people especially if they come bearing treats! We are looking for a home for her with previous bully breed experience and we will not place her in a home with another female dog. No exceptions! And if you don’t know why, then this is not the dog for you! We guess she will be in the 75 pound range!Our adoptions are restricted to residents within 30 miles of the South Bay area of Los Angeles.
