Story
Come meet me and hundreds of adoptable pets at Cincinnati's mega adoption event, My Furry Valentine! Saturday, February 21st and Sunday February 22nd at Spooky Nook Sports! Meet Horace For the first five years of his life, Horace didn’t know what it meant to be someone’s beloved dog. Born into a puppy mill, he missed out on comfort, security, and simple kindness. But despite everything, Horace’s heart remains gentle and full of quiet hope. Now 5½ years old and 10 lbs, this Miniature Poodle is learning what it feels like to be safe. He is crate trained and finds comfort in having a cozy space of his own. He’s also good with kids, especially those who are kind and respectful—he seems to understand gentleness because he offers it so freely himself. Horace is shy at first, but his sweetness shines in small, beautiful ways: a soft look, a tentative tail wag, a calm presence by your side. He doesn’t ask for much—just patience, routine, and someone who will let him bloom in his own time. Each day brings a new victory for him, and being part of that journey is incredibly special. A secure, fenced yard is required for Horace, as he is not comfortable relying solely on leash walks and needs a safe space to explore and decompress. This sweet boy would do best in a calm, loving home. Another gentle dog could help guide him, but what Horace truly needs is a human who believes in second chances and understands that trust is earned through love. Horace’s past does not define him—his future does. He is ready to give his heart to someone who will never let it be broken again. If you’re looking for a quiet, deeply meaningful bond and a dog who will love you with his whole soul, Horace is waiting. Horace is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $400.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Come meet me and hundreds of adoptable pets at Cincinnati's mega adoption event, My Furry Valentine! Saturday, February 21st and Sunday February 22nd at Spooky Nook Sports! Meet Emerald — affectionately known as Emmy! Emerald is a 1.5-year-old, 8-pound miniature poodle with the sweetest spirit. Rescued from a puppy mill, she’s leaving her past behind and blossoming beautifully in her foster home. Free from the noise and stress of mill life, Emerald is learning what it truly means to just be a dog—and she’s loving it. This curious little girl is slowly blossoming, showing glimpses of a happy, gentle pup who’s eager to explore her world at her own pace. Emerald is still quite skittish and learning to adjust to the everyday noises and activity of life outside the puppy mill, but each day she grows a little braver. She’s just beginning to discover the comfort of human affection and truly shines with structure, consistency, and kind guidance. Emerald will thrive in a patient, loving home that’s ready to celebrate her small victories and help her continue building confidence. Emerald is comfortable around both men and women (she is slower to warm up to men). She hasn’t yet had the opportunity to interact with children or cats. Crate training and potty training are works in progress. Emerald is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $400.00 To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. Story
Come meet me and hundreds of adoptable pets at Cincinnati's mega adoption event, My Furry Valentine! Saturday, February 21st and Sunday February 22nd at Spooky Nook Sports! Meet Uma! Uma is a 4 year old, 18 lb Mini poodle with beautiful white and brown markings. Uma loves being curious out in the yard and being close to her people. Her superpowers include being a gentle, curious pup. She warms up to people fairly quickly for being a puppy mill mama. Uma gets along great with other dogs. She is still jumpy about walking outside and loud noises, but loves playing and sniffing around in the backyard. In terms of house training, Uma is mostly house trained, she is still learning to tell you that she needs to go outside. Consistency and patience will help her be a fully house trained girl. She loves to please and she loves to be rewarded with a treat for a good job! Some of her favorite things are her peanut butter stuffed kongs, chicken flavored denta bones, and a soft warm place to lay. Uma helps herself to cuddle with you on the couch and armchairs. Uma would prefer to sleep with you or in a dog bed in your bedroom. Uma can be an escape artist in a crate. She gets nervous when her people leave. However, a few smart adjustments to a crate will help her stay put. Uma would do best in a calm home with lots of yard to pursue. Someone who works from home would be great as it will help her separation anxiety. If you're looking for a sweet girl who will be your household companion, she might be your perfect match. Uma is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $400.00. Story
Meet Larrie, Curlie, & Mo 💕 Yorkie/Poodle mixes, estimated DOB 5/5/25, male, 5-6lbs Larrie, Curlie, & Mo came from a shelter as owner surrenders. These poor pups were so terrified in that environment, everyday their behavior became worse. They were fearing biting, and not easily handled. As soon as we left the shelter with them, the defensive behavior stopped, and their true colors started to shine, sweet, lovable, & playful. These pups will need a patient home to give them time to adjust. They have adjusted very well to their foster home, and are thriving. Our best guess on weight as adults is 10-12lbs These pups are current on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. We are accepting applications at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SHPA/Dog (Names are under individual pictures)
