About Chelsea: Hey to all those poodle lovers out there, Chelsea here! I’m a very sweet girl, who has experienced a tough past life but let’s not dwell on my past too much because I’m really looking forward to my future of being in a very loving home.  I’m very proud on how many things I have already accomplished, I’m quite an eager learner.  I have mastered the stairs; I love joining you out for a walk; I even sit to get my harness on and off; I use pee pads but I also go to the washroom in the backyard; and on the last note I love sleeping on dog beds.  I’m always ready to go whenever you are, I take this responsibility to be your companion very seriously; I will accompany you wherever you go in the house, always waiting for your next move.  I’m very interested when you are in the kitchen, whether you are cooking or getting my food ready, I will sit and watch you very patiently hoping you will give me a treat. Because of my past, I’m shy when I meet new people.  Having a well balanced companion dog in my new home will help me to be more comfortable in approaching new people and situations.  I trust they will show me how great people really are.  Maybe my new companion would love to play with me too! My inner soul has been waiting awhile to be able to enjoy a lavish lifestyle  (it will be like winning the lottery for me), could it be with you? Questions? Story
Meet Sophie – Our Sweet, Energetic Poodle/Spaniel Mix! At just three months old and weighing around 7lbs, Sophie was surrendered by her previous owners who weren’t prepared for the energy of a playful puppy. Now, she’s ready to find a forever family that can give her the love and care she deserves. Sophie is being fostered in the Clarington area. Sophie has visited our vet and is a very healthy puppy girl. She has received her second set of vaccinations and microchip. Sophie was very friendly, lively, and loving at the vet – everyone at the vet office fell instantly in love with her. We believe she’s a poodle/spaniel mix, which means she’s not only cute but also smart and affectionate. Sophie is full of puppy energy and loves spending time outdoors. Her foster mom thinks she’d thrive in a home with a secure, fenced-in yard where she can run and play to her heart’s content. She’s also doing well with house training and would be ok with a playful doggy sibling to keep her company. Sophie sleeps well in her crate at night, enjoys her meals (and treats!), her leash walking is a work in progress, but she is trying to get used to one. She behaved like a little princess during her first bath! Like any puppy, Sophie has a playful side and sometimes nips, but she’s learning quickly and is easily distracted with toys. She’s also a Velcro pup who loves to be close to her humans and follow them around the house. While she’s still a bit nervous about being left alone, that’s something she’s working on – after all, she’s still a baby! Sophie’s tiny bark is too cute for words, and she uses it to get your attention when she’s ready for cuddles or playtime. Sophie’s foster family already adores her and thinks she’s the sweetest. She would benefit from puppy training classes to continue her socialization and reinforce positive behaviors. If you’re looking for a loving, fun companion to add to your family, Sophie might be the perfect match for you! Ready to meet Sophie? Apply today and give her the forever home she deserves! ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca. Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country. Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.

Story
A very sweet little Miniature Poodle named Zach recently joined our rescue. He is 5 years old and weighs around 12 lbs. He lived in a puppy mill all his life and has some challenges to overcome, but is making progress. Zach was very frightened when he arrived at his foster home. He shook for 3 days and slept alone in the living room at night. Three days later he moved to a bed on the floor in the bedroom. Now he sleeps on the bed with his foster parents and their dogs. Zach is comfortable climbing stairs and likes to spend time outside in the backyard rolling in the grass. He feels safe in his home and yard. He is, however, frightened to leave his safe space and when he went for his first walk on a leash he froze and had to be carried home. He is quiet travelling in the car and is fine with a seatbelt or crate. Zach has a very good appetite and eats 2 meals a day. Benny Bully are his favourite treats. He eats Royal Canin Adult canned food. We add a little chopped chicken and rice. He also eats Performatrin Ultra Kibble. These can be purchased from Pet Valu. Currently there are 3 small dogs in Zach’s foster home. He will sometimes join in when the other dogs bark, but for the most part is quiet. He has not been destructive when left alone. He is friendly with people and other dogs.   When Zach was released from the puppy mill he was severley matted and clipped down very short. It will take a couple of months for his coat to grow back in. Zack is not yet totally housebroken. He will do his business outside in the yard. If he can’t get outside in time he will poo on a puppy pad, but will lift his leg on furniture for a pee (we use a belly band for him so no urine gets on our furniture). He will need a training. Zach would probably do best in a very quiet environment with no children. Preferably he should go into a home with a retiree or someone who works from home and could be with him most of the time. A house with a yard and another dog would be a bonus. He is making great progress and with a little time and patience he will do very well. October 3, 2024, 5:29 pm

Story
FLASH is an approximately 1.5 year-old male miniature poodle who loves everyone he meets even after being abandoned He is almost house trained and loves to play with dogs and toys. He also wants to play with the cats he is living with but they don't want to be bothered by a puppy so they ignore him.  He is learning to walk on a leash and patiently waits for his harness to be put on him before he goes out the door.   He insists on sleeping cuddled up to his foster mom and likes to be held when she is watching tv.   FLASH would do well in a home with either another dog or on his own. He would be great for a person who wants a dog but doesn't have a lot of time to walk them as short trips around the block are perfect for him because he has one leg that doesn't work very well and he compensates for it easily by holding it off the ground and only placing it on the ground when he's standing still. He loves running zoomies around the garden and was named FLASH by the shelter because of the speed at which he ran around with only three good legs. He climbs stairs easily and is highly intelligent.   More About FLASH:   Up to Date with vetting: Yes and neutered Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Loves his two feline companions in his foster home - but wants to play with them a lot Reaction to New People: Friendly Good with kids: Yes Resource guarding issues: None Housetrained: Yes - 95%  Crate trained: No Good in the car: Yes Bark when left alone: No Destructive: he is a puppy so will grab things left at his level and run around with them or chew on them but is easily redirected Energy Level: high   October 3, 2024, 5:29 pm
