Story
There’s no place like home … let’s find Randy one! If you’re looking for a dog’s dog, a guy’s guy, then Randy is for you. If Randy were a person, he’d be a young Sylvester Stallone. Solid and in great shape, memorable nose, easy on the eyes. Like a rock on the outside, like a teddy bear inside. After being home with a BCAR volunteer for a couple of days, here’s what she discovered Randy is like at home: Randy is a 46-pound, 1-year and 11-month old Mountain Cur. He is calm, easy-going, loves other dogs (and vise versa) and people (also vise versa). He is housetrained and he doesn’t shed a hair, nor beg. Smart, focused, agile, Randy has all the traits of a Mountain Cur. The breed was developed by early settlers in the Appalachian Mountains to help with hunting and tracking game. You can tell he was bred to be a work dog. Although he can be playful too! He would be an awesome game hunting companion. Randy is a great walking/running buddy. He will go for miles. You’ll need to get him out walking/running daily, or with lots of outside time in an enclosed yard or field. When Randy was found wandering, he had what appeared to be severe abrasions on his body and nose caused by an auto-immune disorder. Fortunately, this can be controlled through a low cost maintenance medication. With the help of Dr. Habermann, Randy has healed but the fur on his nose doesn’t seem to want to grow back. Randy settled into my house like he’s always been there, instinctively knowing his place on the dog bed in my room and settling in on the blanket I put on the sofa beside me, sleeping for hours while I worked. Besides daily exercise, Randy is low maintenance. He’s not underfoot, and is quite independent. He loves being outside, and spent a lot of time on my deck and screen porch. OK, now for the cons: None. Pinky promise. He’s good as gold. Randy is a polite, smooth and refined kind of guy. He’s sweet, loving and smart. Please help find Randy a home! Either with your family or another whom you might share this with. He will thrive with a family’s love. Randy will be a blessing for the family who takes him home forever. All BCAR dogs are placed as indoor family pets. No electric fences, please. Visit pets every Saturday 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (706-268-1346) or visit our website for adoption information at www.bigcanoeanimalrescue.org

Story
This brindle beauty is Nova! She arrived at the shelter as a lost girl with ID on 8/6, along with her bestie, Mia. This is not their first rodeo; they've been in the shelter several times, but their family did not come for them this time. Mia has now been adopted. Nova is playful, affectionate, and friendly. She LOVES treats and will work for them! Nova is approximately 1.5 years old, and she weighs 49 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines, and she has been spayed and microchipped. Nova tested negative for heartworms so that is great news. Please come meet Nova in run 874; her ID # is 660889. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
Hazel was a found pup in Lawrenceville GA by a group of people who took her in before heading into traffic. She was found very skinny and possibly abused in her past. But after taking her in she still has the love for humans and adores anyone that she sees. She loves the attention, kisses and treats. She is a senior dog at least 10 years old so she still has many years left to create memories with. She is potty trained well, she will let you know when she needs to go. She sleeps alot and does not bark haha, she loves her belly rubs. Hazel seems to be the kind of dog that prefers to be alone just because of her age. So if anyone is looking for just a single dog Hazel would be the one to look into.

Story
We adopted Lu from the Atlanta Humane Society in Alpharetta ~ 3 years ago. Lu is very expressive and warm with family members. While she likes to play outside, she prefers to spend more time inside. Lu is a food-motivated dog and is always happy to get a treat or sit by you when you have a meal. Lu went away for a couple of weeks of training when she was a puppy and learned basic commands. Lu roams free in our home and is put in a dog cage when we have errands. Lu does not perform well in situations where she encounters unknown dogs or new people and prefers to be in environments with known stimuli. When walking in the neighborhood, Lu will be reactive when viewing other dogs. We are relocating to Europe and believe the transition will be too difficult for Lu. We are hopeful to find a home where Lu can be primarily an inside dog, hopefully, get plenty of exercise in environments where she does not encounter unknown dogs, and can share her love with her new family.
