Story
Hi! My name is Chelsea! The shelter is my current home, but I'm looking for something a little more permanent. I've grown up here and even though I am comfortable with my shelter family, I may be a little shy with new people. I need a proper introduction with people and new animals. After a few days to get used to my new surroundings, I'll blossom into the fun loving dog I am. I like to run and play with my siblings and I always like to greet you with a smile. If you are interested in opening up your heart and home to a shelter dog in need, I could be the one!

Meet Izzy, a lovable goofball with a heart as big as his energy levels. This friendly, adult dog is always ready for playtime, his tail wagging with excitement at the prospect of a game of fetch or a long walk. Izzy's energy is infectious, and he has a knack for turning even the gloomiest of days into a joyous occasion. But Izzy's not all fun and games. He's also incredibly loyal and would do anything for those he loves. Not even a fence could separate Izzy from his people...and we mean literally. He has escaped his yard a few times making sure his people were nearby. His goofy antics are sure to bring a smile to your face and his unwavering loyalty will make you feel loved and cherished. Adopt Izzy and let his infectious energy and undying loyalty turn your house into a home.

Story
Current Location: Richmond, VA MEET WOODY! Woody is a big-hearted, lovable dog who just wants to be part of the family. His tail seems to wag on autopilot, and his sweet personality shines through the moment he feels comfortable. Woody is loyal, affectionate, and always ready to play or curl up close once he’s had his fun. Energy and Personality Woody has a medium to high energy level. He loves to play and zoom around the yard but settles nicely afterward for naps or quiet time. He’s happiest when included in the action and enjoys being close to his people. He can be a little whiny when left out, but it’s mostly because he loves company. Training and Behavior Woody is 99% house trained and quickly learned to use the outdoors as his restroom. He’s done great in a fenced yard and hasn’t made any escape attempts. He does fine in a large wire crate but can get vocal for a bit before settling. Because he’s not destructive when left alone, his foster family doesn’t always use the crate. Woody responds well to direction, listens when corrected, and can easily be redirected with a toy. Social Life Woody gets along well with some dogs, usually smaller dogs. He gets along with his foster mom's big dog but mostly prefers to be an only dog so he can soak up all his family's attention. He can be a bit overenthusiastic in play because he doesn’t always realize his size, but he means well and adjusts quickly with guidance. He has also done well with the resident cat, respectfully backing off after a warning hiss. Woody has met delivery people and neighborhood visitors and may bark at first, but he quiets down when told. Quirks and Special Traits Woody is a sweet, affectionate dog who thrives on love and inclusion. He’s playful, loyal, and loves a good cuddle session after a day of fun. His expressive nature and big personality make him a joy to have around. Best Home Fit Woody would do well in a home familiar with larger breeds or energetic dogs. He would love a family who enjoys playtime, outdoor activities, and has room for him to stretch his legs. A home where he’s not left alone for long periods would make him happiest. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. The disease was treated while in foster care. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Story
Current Location: West Point, VA Gena’s journey is a testament to quiet strength. Found as a young puppy in Albania, she was injured, terrified, and hiding in the bushes. For a long time, she would only eat once humans walked away. But day by day, her fear turned into curiosity, and then into trust. Now 9 months old, this "fluffy mountain dog" has undergone a total transformation. Gena is: A Social Butterfly: She loves all people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. The Perfect Travel Partner: She is a pro on the leash and enjoys riding in the car. Gentle & Calm: Despite her rough start, she has a naturally affectionate and playful nature. Gena has been spayed, fully vetted, and is physically and emotionally ready for her forever home. She survived the streets; now she just needs a family to show her she never has to hide again.

Story
Xena, the 6-month-old purebred Mountain Cur, is a great choice for anyone searching for an intelligent and athletic furry friend. She enjoys playing and running around, and is gentle and affectionate towards other dogs. Although she may take some time to warm up to new people, once she does, you will receive an abundance of love and kisses. Xena had a bit of a rough start in life, as she was discovered alone under a building in SC when she was only 10 weeks old. However, she has made tremendous progress since then, and is now spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, housebroken, and heartworm negative. This furry beauty is currently on monthly preventative, ensuring her good health and happiness. If you are considering adopting Xena, it is strongly recommended that you have a fenced backyard, as she loves to run and play. Additionally, Xena would appreciate living with another dog, as she adores all of her foster siblings. Overall, Xena is an intelligent, athletic, and sweet pup that would be an excellent addition to any caring household. To find out more about this gorgeous pup and see if she is the right fit for you, get in touch with her foster family today.
