Story
My name is Gorda. I was adopted from the Humane Society shelter when I was only 2yrs old. I’m 7yrs old now, and I’m a bit socially anxious with other animals so I never had any fur brothers or sisters but I love people! Kids under the age of 10 make me nervous but I’m super friendly other wise. I have a bit of itchy skin due to some slight skin allergies, but I’ve been going to the vet to get treatment. I don’t chew on furniture, or bark unnecessarily and am well potty trained. I learned to walk without tugging, but I love to play tug a war and fetch even at 7 years old and tend to get the zoomies when I’m excited. I LOVE belly rubs and sleeping next to my special person. I eat dry kibble that helps support my sensitive stomach and skin. I love the outdoors but I can be an inside dog as well and a quick learner. I hope I can find my forever home soon.💜

Story
It is very bittersweet for us to be looking for a new home for our dog Jockamo as our family is moving to Nicaragua for several years to do humanitarian service work. We adopted him as a puppy from the Helen Woodward Animal Center in San Diego, and he has been a loving, sweet member of our family ever since. He is a 10-year-old, medium-sized German Shepherd and Hound mix with a calm, gentle personality. He loves being petted, is always excited for a treat or mealtime, gets along great with children and other dogs, and enjoys simply being near his people. He is house trained and capable of long periods of time if needed. He loves walks and exploring. He's up to date on all of his vaccinations and veterinary care, and recently had a clean bill of health at his latest checkup. His coat sheds, but we think he's worth every stray hair. Our only goal is to find him a safe, loving home where he can enjoy his senior years surrounded by people who will love him as much as we do.

Story
Meet Chelsea, the best pup in town! She was rescued in Rosarito, Mexico. Despite her calm demeanor and comfortable character when indoors, she loves to meet other dogs and becomes friends quickly with both humans and pups!At the time of her rescue, she surprised us with the news that she was expecting puppies. After being a mom, her 5 pups have been adopted, and she is now ready to find her own home! She is sweet, loving, and friendly with humans and pets; she even has an Australian Shepherd as her play buddy. She is a calm dog, currently trying to find quiet time and cuddles when she's not going around saying hi to everyone. Apart from being around people and receiving attention, she truly enjoys the outdoors and loves to play with toys.

Story
05/24/26 I adopted a very sweet boy I named Oliver as a playmate to my dog-loving resident dog, but my resident dog is unwilling to share his mom & his home in the way I hoped.Oliver is 21#, 3yo, potty trained, treat motivated. With proper introduction, loves people. He’s interacted happily & appropriately w a 5 & 7yo- he might bark at 1st,We've been training against that & he made great progress.Oliver loved my dog the second he saw him. I don’t think he’s great w cats. Not crate trained but Can easily be left 6-8hrs, no barking, no destructive behaviors. Oliver is an indoor family dog that will follow you everywhere & capture your heart. Loves walks, dogs he knows, playing tug, cuddles &all snacks/chews.6/20/26 update: Resident dog issue intensified/ Oliver was returned to Humane Society. As of 7/05 he is still there, SD campus. Due to understaffing, still not listed on their website. So I am leaving this here for now. He is animal ID #ID 977510. (His previous name James Bond).

Story
Meet Makayla! I adopted her from the San Diego Animal Shelter in 2019 when she was estimated to be around 3 years old. Rehoming her is an incredibly difficult decision, but with a one-year-old child in the home, I’ve realized she would be happier in a calmer environment. Makayla is a loving, loyal, and protective dog who forms strong bonds with her family. She is house-trained, walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and all of her vaccinations are up to date. She loves treats, playing fetch, and her favorite toy is a ball. Makayla would do best as the only pet in a home without young children, as they make her anxious. She isn’t crate-trained because she’s always done well in the house. She is truly a wonderful dog, and I’m hoping to find her a loving home where she can feel safe, relaxed, and cherished for the rest of her life.

Story
Meet Lady: a beautiful two-year-old soul with a resilient spirit. Lady wound up at her town's local animal shelter not once, not twice, but three times throughout her short little life. With each shelter stay, Lady's fate hung in the balance, her future uncertain. But five minutes before the world went dark for her, fate intervened! Lady's story is one of perseverance, a testament to the indomitable spirit that resides in rescue dogs. With each return to the shelter, Lady clung to the hope that one day, her forever family would come for her. But time stretched on, and as she watched her kennel companions find their homes, Lady's hope began to waver. She wondered if her family would ever come; if the love she longed to give would forever remain unclaimed. From Lady's perspective, the days blurred together, a montage of waiting and wondering. She yearned for the gentle touch of a hand, the warmth of a loving gaze, and the sound of a family's laughter. No matter how much doubt crept into her heart, she clung to the belief that somewhere out there, her family existed. She held onto that glimmer of hope, the flicker of a dream that refused to be extinguished. And then, in June of 2022, Lady's life took a turn for the better. "The Pitty Committee" whisked her away from the shelter, ensuring that she would never face the threat of euthanasia again. From that moment on, Lady found herself in the serene atmosphere of South Lake Tahoe, where she has flourished under the loving care of her wonderful Foster Mama, Hailey! But, although Lady is safe from a dreaded shelter environment, her journey remains incomplete. She still waits for her forever family to find her.

Lady is more than just a dog; she's a lake-loving adventurer, a spirited soul who thrives on the joys of nature. She yearns for an active family, who will embrace her love for swimming, running, and frolicking in the sun and snow. Lady's heart knows no bounds when it comes to people of all ages. She adores children, and her boundless energy makes her the perfect playmate. She's a fetch aficionado, and her dock-jumping skills are nothing short of astounding. But what sets Lady apart is her unwavering loyalty, her eagerness to please, and her ability to melt your heart with a single glance. This beautiful girl has come a long way since leaving the shelter. She's crate trained, muzzle trained, and she listens to commands with a heart full of eagerness to please. She's not just a dog; she's a testament to the power of love and resilience. A promise of boundless joy to the family that opens their heart to her. Don't let Lady's story remain incomplete. She's been waiting and hoping for quite some time; she deserves a forever family to call her own. We ask that you consider Lady as the missing piece in your life, the companion who will make every moment brighter, and the love that will fill your heart. Complete your life with a furry friend who knows the true meaning of hope, love, and the promise of a forever home. Lady is waiting, and her love is worth the journey. Don't let her wait any longer; make her a part of your family, and create a story of love and happiness that will last a lifetime. Adopt Lady, and change both your lives forever! ♥
