We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Dipsy, 1.5 years old, neutered male, black mouth cur and plot hound mix, 64lbs. Dipsy is in a foster home in Houston, Texas and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Dipsy is a tall, dark, handsome introvert with perfect natural eyeliner, soft soulful eyes, and fur so smooth you’ll want to pet him (please do—he loves a good brushing). He’s a mysterious-but-goofy boy who proudly digs through toy boxes like an archaeologist on a mission to select the perfect one and rolls in the grass like he’s checking into a luxury spa. Dipsy takes time to bond, but once he trusts you, he’ll wake you with gentle paw taps and his deep “Barry White” morning voice. He loves to play—sometimes a little too enthusiastically—so he appreciates help remembering to take cooldown breaks. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes, plays politely with cats when he’s bored, and does best with kids 10+ since he’s still working on toning down his excited “love pinches.” Dipsy is housebroken, crate trained, respectful around food and toys, fantastic in the car, but might steal a snack off the counter. He also loves sliding himself under your desk like a big furry foot warmer, “talks” when you come home like he’s giving you a full recap of his day, and once in a while stares dramatically into the distance as if he’s in an indie film. His ideal home has adults or older kids, ideally another dog friend, and people who enjoy walks, playtime, and letting an introvert unfold at his own pace. Say Howdy to Daryl and Jessie! Their owner had to surrender them after an unexpected medical condition left him unable to care for them. This bonded pair are only a year apart, and have been raised together since puppyhood so we really want to keep them together! He’s a little bit country and she’s a little bit rock-n-roll, but they go together like peas and carrots! Daryl is a laid-back, handsome brindle with a sweet, calm demeanor, and gives the best dog hugs ever! The true hound that he is, he loves long walks with his nose to the ground or in the air to make sure those pesky squirrels stay up in the trees. But don’t let him fool you, he has a funny, mischievous side as well. If his nose can reach it, his mouth can eat it, but only when you’re not looking. While Daryl is happy moseying along, Jessie’s ready to put the pedal to the metal. She puts the “sass” in sassafras! When this girl gets excited, clear the floor, ‘cause she likes to dance like no one’s watching! This little fashionista somehow matched her eyes to her coat, she’s a real beauty! But there’s nothing she loves more than snuggling up with you on the couch. That is, once you move her over an inch and squeeze in beside her. She’s not giving up her spot easily! They may be polar opposites, but they agree that they are looking for somebody with a lot of love to give…and treats(bones)…and cuddles…and belly/butt rubs and, oh yeah, a big yard would be great because, well, they’re not the best on leash, but they’re getting better! Xolo is a 5-month-old Plott Hound mix and the cutest little ball of energy! He walked into his foster home like he’d been there forever — exploring every corner and instantly becoming best friends with his foster brother. He loves toys, but playing with another dog is definitely his favorite way to have fun. He seems to be very close to fully potty trained; on his very first night, he was already tapping the bell on the door to go outside! He’s also wonderfully food-motivated, which makes training both fun and easy. At bedtime, he fussed just a bit while settling into his kennel, but once the lights went out, he slept through the night like a champ. Xolo loves the outdoors and would make an amazing adventure buddy — or the perfect new addition to any loving family! He’s so playful and sweet. He kept his attention on me at all times. He really seem to enjoy the attention being given to him. I tried playing with a toy with him but he didn’t really seem to know what to do with it! I’m sure with time he’d be a wonderful playmate! He walked well on the leash (was able to take him out despite his age as staff told me he already had both boosters) He got super excited next to other dogs as if he wanted to play with them. His colors are gorgeous which is what made me go see him. He also has the cutest thing where one ear is up and the other is down! Great puppy!! Foster notes: One of my easiest fosters to date! Loves playing with his foster brother Jax Seems to be potty trained.. he only went potty once inside and it was when I was cooking, he scratched at back door and I didnt open it in time! Loves water/baths, just stood there and even laid on his back for belly scratches. So happy to eat, wags his tail the entire time No resource guarding that i noticed Slept in a kennel ALL night, didnt make a sound. Havent seen with children or cats. knows how to sit He transitioned into a house super easy for being in Barc for I believe a month.
