Darla is a nearly 1 year old female Pointer mix who brings together sweetness and a joyful spirit in one adorable package. Though she was quite shy when she first arrived at the shelter, everything changed after a long weekend in a loving foster home, which was all Darla needed to truly blossom. During her stay, she quickly showed her fosters what a wonderful houseguest she could be - quiet, easygoing, and eager to please. Darla got along beautifully with the resident dog, was good with the cats, and was even seen laying next to her new canine friend with their paws sweetly overlapping. So precious! Darla also impressed her fosters with her initial crate training (quiet through the night) and potty training, showing she is eager to learn and be part of a home. Most of all, Darla has won the hearts of shelter staff and volunteers with her sweet manners and affectionate nature. Within a couple minutes outside of her shelter cage, she settles quickly and walks like a dream on a leash, making outings with her peaceful and pleasant. Breed: Pointer/Jack Russel Mix (our best guess!) Gender: Male Estimated Date of Birth: 4/9/2024 Size: 31 pounds Location: Wedowee, AL RESCUING BINGO... Bingo was part of an oops litter of 9 puppies who belonged to a local family. The mom was a Jack Russel mix and the dad is unknown. Two of the puppies sadly didn't survive. We were contacted to help with the remaining 7 puppies and we took them in on June 20, 2024. We also had the momma dog spayed. When we got these babies they were in rough shape - loaded with worms, fleas and ticks but we knew they needed to be saved and we are so happy we could help! The pups in this litter are Bingo, Peaches, Zeke, Willy, June, Penelope (Adopted!) and Summer (Adopted!). ABOUT BINGO... Bingo is living in our rescue cottage with other dogs. He is a super sweet puppy but he is shy and a follower so would do best with a patient family that has another dog who is confident and could show him the ropes. He is a big snuggler and once he is comfortable and feels safe with his family he will show you non-stop love. He is very playful, loves toys and bones. He does well with his crating routine and is fine in his crate but occasionally will still have an accident once or twice a week. He would do well with kids and would make a great addition to a family. Bingo walks well on a leash and currently has a fenced in yard. He would do best with a yard to run and play in or with an active family that can get him out to burn off some energy. Bingo also loves to play in the kiddie pool and would do great as a boating companion or a family that hikes near creeks or has a pool. ADOPTING BINGO... Bingo is neutered, current on all vaccines, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, microchipped and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $200.00. Dougie found us as a small puppy in rural NC and we took him in. He is 16 months old and we think he just about full grown now at about 69 pounds. He is a sweet boy who loves to run and play. He has never met another dog or person he does not like and want to be friends with. He is up to date on vaccinations, house-trained, crate-trained and has had some basic training instruction. We have two other, older dogs and a third is a little too much for us. We are patiently waiting to find the right home for Dougie where he will be loved and cared for. His energy level might be a little much for toddlers at this point in his development, but would be great with older (school-age) kids.
