This special boy is believed to be a Pointer/Bull Terrier mix (maybe some Jack Russell as well!) and is the perfect medium-sized companion at about 40 pounds. Apache’s start in life was heartbreaking; he was taken from an abusive owner having suffered a broken leg and possible gunshot wound. Thanks to one of our amazing rescue partners down south, he got the surgery he needed and handled 8 weeks of crate rest like a total champ! Now Apache is healed, healthy, and officially ready for his forever family! Apache is a goofy, happy boy who adores attention and loves to be close to his people. He relaxes in the office while his foster mom works from home and curls up next to her on the couch as soon as she sits down. He’s great with his canine foster brother and will never turn down a game of tug or some friendly wrestling. He’s perfectly house-trained, glad to settle in his crate, not destructive around the house, and rides nicely in the car. This friendly boy even aced his cat test, and we think he would do well living alongside dog-savvy felines! While Apache still has some happy puppy energy, it’s not overwhelming and is easily burned off with a walk or a game of fetch. Apache settled in very quickly to his NJ home and took to his foster parents right away, but after everything this sweet boy has been through, he can be nervous at times and may be apprehensive meeting some strangers. He has been absolutely wonderful with older and respectful kids, but the loud noises and sudden movements of young children can make him uneasy. Because of this, we are recommending a home with little ones ~10 years and up. But he doesn’t let his past define him! Apache may need a little time to feel safe, but he’s all heart, all joy, and more than ready for a home of his own. Apache so deserves a second chance at the life he should have always had. If you’ve been looking for a sweet, resilient, and loving pup to complete your family, Apache may be your perfect match. Apache is fixed and up-to-date on vaccines. His adoption donation is $500. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time, and training prior to adoption.
