I am practically a pro athlete when it comes to fetch. While my "hand-delivery" skills are still in development, my dedication is unmatched. If you’re too busy to throw the ball, no problem—I’ll just drop toys down the stairs and play a solo game! THE PERSONALITY: I’m a bit of a "slow burn" when meeting new people and pups. I need a patient leader who respects my space while I muster up my courage. It might take a few introductions before I’m ready to commit, but once we’re bonded? We are BFFs for life. IDEAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: Quiet & Private: A fenced yard is my happy place. I’m a homebody by nature, and while I’m learning to love "The Walk," I prefer quiet hikes or strolls over busy city streets. The "Mentor" System: Dog parks aren't my scene, but I’d love a confident canine sibling! Having a role model to show me that people are safe and walks are fun makes all the difference. Respectful Roommates: I love kids, but I’d do best with older ones who understand my boundaries. I give great hugs and "couch cuddles," but sometimes a guy just needs a little personal space. SPECIAL SKILLS: Genius Level Intellect: I’m potty trained and can ring bells to go out! I’m also currently studying the mystery of "Door Knobs"—I’m 90% sure they are the key to the outside world. Expert Napper: I’m a crate-training champ at night and a gold-medal sleeper during the day (as long as I’ve had my morning workout). Resource Management: I’m happy to share my toys, but if you give me a high-value treat (like a bully stick), I’ll take it to my "private office" until I’m finished. A Sato is a Puerto Rican street dog, and like many of them, Clara is taking everything in stride as she adjusts to life in a home. Clara is a calm, quiet girl who doesn’t bark and is happiest curled up in her bed or crate. She sleeps soundly through the night and keeps her crate clean, showing just how well mannered she already is. When new people come into the home, she quietly removes herself and settles in her crate, which seems to be her safe space. She may be a bit unsure at first, but she warms up quickly to her people and has already built a sweet bond with her foster family and their kids. Once she feels comfortable, Clara’s playful side starts to shine. She loves toys and will happily engage in little bursts of play between her many naps. She is learning the leash and is doing great, even letting kids help guide her on walks. Every now and then she gets a little burst of excitement and does some happy bouncing while on leash, which is as adorable as it sounds. Potty training is coming along nicely. She has started to show clear cues like pacing and crying when she needs to go out and tends to stick to one area in the yard. Like any puppy, she has had a few accidents, but she is learning quickly. Clara did well walking alongside another dog and would likely enjoy having a canine companion to help build her confidence and give her someone to play with. She would thrive in a patient home that allows her to continue coming out of her shell at her own pace. She is a special little girl with a calm, loving presence and so much potential to blossom into an incredibly devoted companion. Clara is being fostered in Pikesville, MD. PLEASE READ: Any dog that is house or potty trained will still need patience in a new home with new people and a new schedule. Please be ready to train ANY dog you adopt!
